McGill's on 21st Ratings and Reviews
Food was great but the service was bad, first our server took forever to take our order initially then after we received our food she never came back and checked on us, the manager passes by and asked how the food was and then said he could bring us more bread and of course that never happened so we left there with a bad experience and will not return
The food is far from worth the cost. I would much rather spend an extra $10 and go to Fleming’s. The steak and the roasted red potatoes were dry and flavorless, and my drink was left empty more than once. My date thought the asparagus was not properly seasoned, and was sad to see me spend so much money when I could have gotten a better (and much cheaper) meal at Charleston’s.
Surf and turf special was excellent. 1/2 pound of crab legs and a filet, pure perfection. Wife had the Alfredo with chicken also excellent. We went for our anniversary and we will be going back. Get what you pay for and it's definitely worth it. Service was excellent, our waitress, Grace, excellent.
Ordered the filet mignon medium rare. It was delivered over cooked. I was hesitant to return it, but I did. I have probably sent my food back twice in a decade.
A new meal was delivered with the filet still overdone and this time, the grilled veggies were crispy. I lost the energy to eat too many tough foods so I didn't eat. As a frequent diner, I expected more of this upscale restaurant.
This location can be a little difficult to find if your not paying attention, once inside it is very inviting and a great setting for a special occasion such as our anniversary. The food was very good, my wife enjoyed the surf and turf, and I had the pork chop. The only retraction from the evening was the applesauce glaze on the pork chop, if you like cinnamon I am sure it is amazing, unfortunatly, I can’t stand it. Although it was entirely my taste buds fault, the kitchen quickly remade the entire plate without the sauce and it was amazing! Grace was our server, and she took great care of us. She alone is worth a return visit!
It was our 31st anniversary. It was fairly quiet for a late weekend reservation (we drove in from OKC). The food was great, and the waitress was attentive. The avocado crab cocktail and my soup were excellent as was the steak. The prime rib was good, but not quite as tender as the steak. The drinks and wine we ordered were very good, too. An older couple was sitting close to us, and they were "breaking up", and we could hear their conversation. Not complaining, because it was amusing. When they left, another couple seemed relieved that they had left. We started talking, and found they were having their first wedding anniversary. The customers at McGill's are friendly (if they are not breaking up).
I did return a week or so later and enjoyed the bar atmosphere. You just feel at home at McGill's. I will return for a third time when I am back in Tulsa.
One of our favorite places to dine out. The food, ambiance, service are always wonderful. This was my wife's birthday celebration. We were fortunate to have one of our favorite out of town friends with us that have never been there. They thoroughly enjoyed the evening also.
Great menu, our steaks were served just as we requested. The ambiance was subdued, very intimate feeling, the service was remarkable, our hostess was knowledgeable, personable and professional. My wife and I had a very pleasant meal and delightful experience.
The Appetizers & salads were tasty. We enjoyed our main meals & appreciated the included vegetables & starches. The fish dishes might have cooked less & it would have been a nice addition to have EVOO as a bread condiment instead of just butter, plus some whole grain bread.
The service was perfect. Our waiter was attentive, asked for additional drink orders, etc. Another plus of this restaurant is that it is easy to hear & talk at the tables--very quiet atmosphere with comfortable chairs.
We visited McGills on our last evening of a business trip. Food was very good, prime rib & steak special. Wine list was average. Waitress was very meek & needed to be more attentive. Great atmosphere. Table next to us was watching a video streaming of a car race - which killed the ambiance, but wasn't the fault of the restaurant. I would return & visit the bar and/or dining area again.
The food was wonderful - better flavored steak than at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. I have eaten at McGill's many times and my only disappointment is the service is so uneven. Our waiter was very nice but it took forever to be served and the restaurant wasn't busy. We ate early (6 p.m. on a Saturday). She forgot my iced tea and the mushrooms I ordered. The steak had amazing seasoning but my steak was overcooked and my significant other's steak was undercooked. We didn't mind as much because the flavor was still so wonderful. The manager was quick to offer a new steak but I said no because of how long it took to get served the first time. And he offered to take my steak off the bill but it was so good, I said no and ate it. He was very gracious and gave us a card for a free appetizer the next time we're there. Maybe it was a new waiter but the same thing has happened before. However, it won't stop me from eating there!
Overall good, my steak was good although the sides were just ok. Nice decor and clean restaurant, although the salt sellers were pretty tacky in the containers them come in from the grocery store. Bread pudding was the best I have had for a while so I would recommend.
My wife and I celebrated our 22d Wedding Anniversary with Dinner at McGill's on 21st. This was our second time to dine at McGill's. Our appetizer was the Escargot, her first time and she loved them. Dinner was the prime rib and dessert was the bread pudding. Dinner plus tip was in the $70/person range. Yes McGill's is a five star value. Why? Not only is the food superb, I rate the prime rib as the best in Oklahoma, the staff is superb. I believe every person at McGill's understands the they are not selling food; they are selling a dining experience. It is a dining experience worth the price. The front-of-house manager and all of the staff were well groomed, friendly, courteous and attentive. The ambiance is intimate. It is easy to converse without shouting. We will return.
Our waitress never once smiled. She did not move or open here mouth to talk, therefore our entire party could not hear her and would all ask, "what did she say" when she walked away. 3 of 4 steaks were not cooked to order. My order was not correct. I ordered the special, steak & scallops and it came steak & shrimp. By the time they brought me my scallops my steak was finished. Overall not a good experience.
I usually go to McGill's on the 61st. We picked the 21st street as we wanted to showcase the Utica Square and surrounds to our clients from Japan. I was disappointed with the booth that we had and the service. Granted the restaurant was full and we had a last minute addition that we squeezed in with us in the booth. I will stick with the 61st street location in the future.
