Food was excellent as usual.
Three friends and I had dinner at McEwen's on a busy Saturday night. We sat in the long dining area on the right side in a booth. The restaurant was nearly full, but we were about to chat without shouting. The food was excellent. I recommend the wedge salad and the duck gumbo. Our waiter, Luke, was lovely, and our cocktails were exceptional.
We were visiting our son in Oxford and chose McEwens based on reviews from friends as well as the location being on the Square. The appetizers were the best part of the meal. There were 6 of us dining. We had the lobster mac n cheese, buttermilk fried oysters and charcuterie platter. It was all delicious! We each had a wedge salad and an entree. The people who ordered the filet, the ribeye special and the wild salmon had nothing but wonderful things to say. My husband and I had the no crab cakes over grits and the trout. The crab cake was a little fishy tasting and the grits were a bit too spicy for me. My husband said that there wasn't much flavor to the trout. We ended the meal with a couple of desserts for the table. The banana cream pie with Ganache and Avocado Lime creme brulee. Both of them were excellent. Overall the experience was top notch, just wish our entrees would have been a bit better.
The food and service was wonderful. It is one of the few restaurants on the Square in Oxford that will take a reservation. I have always had great meals there and the value of a reservation on a weekend cannot be over stated.
Two friends and I had dinner, and all agreed the food was delicious. The server was solicitous. The ambiance was comfortable. The drink with rye whiskey that one of my friends had was “perfect.” All in all a good evening.
Big thanks to the manager who had setup the table to recognize our wedding anniversary. Turned out to be one of three wedding anniversaries there and we all had the same friendly waitress. Felt special and not over the top. Steak was tasty and the Mac and cheese as an app was great as we ate a little more than usual.
McEwan's is an absolute favorite of ours and has been one for years. The menu changes often enough that it stays interesting yet keeps favorites around long enough to have something you love a few times. The service is impeccable and it's pricing is more than fair. The cocktails are great and the wine list is great too. WE LOVE MCEWANS!
I took my girlfriend here because she was visiting Oxford for the first time and I was told that McEwen’s was the place to go. It met every expectation and surpassed them. The food was amazing. I got the New York Strip with Shrimp and my girlfriend got the Lamb shanks. Both meals were delicious. The amazing food and service made our night very memorable. Thank you so much.
Love this place. Never had a bad meal. Service is exceptional.
The waiter forgot to submit our order. We were there 2 hours for a simple brunch. We were given 2 drinks & a dessert for the wait.
Always have a great meal and a great time at McEwens!
I spend about two nights a year in Oxford for business reasons and my nephew is in law school there. My wife & I met our nephew for cocktails and dinner at McEwen's (recommended to me by my Sales Director, who does a lot of business dinners). First off, the bartender (I don't recall his name) was outstanding! He was knowledgeable, very personable and professional (plus he tells a great joke). Dinner was outstanding. We ordered the Masa Dusted Catfish, Beef Tenderloin with crabmeat and smoked salmon salad, plus lobster mac. For dessert we had chocolate pie, cheesecake and banana nut bread pudding. The catfish wasn't as crispy as my wife liked, the beef tenderloins were perfect and the salmon caesar salad may be the best salad I've ever eaten. We shared our deserts and agreed the banana nut bread pudding was the best. I highly recommend this restaurant!
One of my favorite Oxford restaurants. The food is always good and the staff is kind and patient.
The sea bass was absolutely phenomenal, as were the biscuits. Eddy, our server, knew the menu well and made great recommendations!! The only part we did. It like was the cream pie, which was a little tough. However, we went for a birthday and they did an awesome little treat by putting trick candles in the pie! Overall a wonderful wonderful meal!!
McEwen's is consistently good! I've always enjoyed good service, food and drinks.
We had a competent and attentive wait staff .
My salmon with fried capers was perfectly cooked -very moist and flaky . Lovely meal .
Definitely a great place to dine !
This is one of our favorite places to dine out, especially for Sunday brunch. the menu features a large selection of entrees, from breakfast dishes to seafood dishes as well as salads. They offer
fresh powdered sugar beignets with hot chocolate sauce that are delicious.
I’ve eaten here several times and had a nice dining experience. Today was awful. We sat for 10 minutes before we received water and another 5 before we ever saw our server. We received our mimosas only after our appetizer had been served and eaten despite they were ordered at the same time.
We split a burger and the waiter told us he would bring us a second plate when we ordered. Our burger came, no extra plate and it took almost 7 minutes for our waiter to get us the second plate. The burger was amazing BUT the service was terribly slow and ruined the meal for us. It shouldn’t take an over hour and a half to serve beignets and a medium rare hamburger.
Excellent dining experience
After dining there many times, McEwan’s doesn’t disappoint. The sea bass entree is always swoon worthy and others in my party loved the filet mignon. These petite ladies ate every bite! Also love the ahi tuna salad for lunch!
Wow! Great food, great service. Will be back soon. They were very accommodating about my special seating request and also recognized our birthday guest. Our server was totally knowledgeable about the entire menu and offered excellent information about ingredients.
delicious food and atmosphere; outstanding service. Music is awfully loud, but that's what all restaurants are these days, which is a shame. It's plenty pricey! - but I can't make this quality of food at home - I'll never forget eating here, it was amazing.
Always love eating at McEwens when we visit Oxford! Food is fabulous, and great service!
Everything was delicious. My husband loved the Sea Bass. I called ahead about some dietary restrictions and they were very accommodating!
We originally had a reservation for 6 people at 9 pm. We stopped in the restaurant and asked if there were any cancellations-please let us know. I received a phone call about an hour later with a 7:00 pm opening.
Staff was great, and food was very good. Great appetizers and drinks. I’ve been to the majority of the high priced restaurants on the square. I feel McEwens is my favorite.
$50 steaks at the other places-,just don’t seem justified.
See ya next time I’m in Oxford.
One of our favorite places on the square in Oxford! Food is always delicious and love the atmosphere!
Awesome food, service, and ambience.
Excellent food and service!
Food delicious and service excellent!
Pretty boring brunch all things considered. Maybe it was my choice but the breakfast plate was OK. If I want a Sunday breakfast/brunch I’d rather go to Billups.
We’ve dined here several times. The food is always good & the service is always great.
Great food, service, and drinks as always. My personal favorite spot in oxford.
The food was excellent. Everyone was polite and well mannered. The only negative would be how tight the table spacing was.
V-day experience. Place is always great in a town with GREAT OPTIONS.
Food always appears and tastes fresh. Dishes are creative and blend seasonal fare with traditional meal anchors including fish, steak, and chicken to make for a consistently satisfying dining experience. This restaurant compares favorably to the most highly rated in New York, DC, New Orleans and other notable centers of dining choice and excellence.
McEwens never disappoints. Elegant but friendly atmosphere.
We dine here a lot. I flew in from California to take my two children to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Everything was fabulous but the server. We have had her before but this evening she was sour, unfriendly and distant. She should not have come into work with such a poor attitude- it affected our dining experience.
Great!! Perfect noise and ambience
Excellent, as always. Our favorite place to eat!
Great time for Valentines Dinner!
