McEwens - Oxford
Dinner: Tuesday - Thursday 5:00pm - 9:00pm
Friday & Saturday 5:00pm - 10:00pm
Sunday Brunch: 10:30am-2:00pm
Wonderful as usual!
Food was very good. Server was nice but she was busy. We had to pour our own wine all night and ask for water refills. Also need to upgrade wine glass. A nice bottle of red needs to go in an appropriate glass. We will be back as food was solid and people were nice
Excellent Food and Service, great location with ample parking.
Just unpacked my daughter at college and tried to find a great spot for lunch. Everyone raves about McEwens in Memphis and I hadn’t been there in years. It came up on trip advisor with good reviews and I could reserve for lunch guaranteeing we wouldn’t have to wait long after a tiring day. We arrived around 1:45 only to find out that the kitchen closes at 2. That’s weird...So we were really rushed to put in our order but other than that, food was tasty, service was attentive and I would definitely go again and recommend.
McEwen's is great for lunch or dinner. One of the best restaurants on the Square in Oxford, if not the best.
Outstanding food!! We will be back.
Great dinner place with nice ambiance and service!
Gathered with extended family for dinner, celebrating the beginning of our son's freshman year. Seated promptly, excellent service. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Will definitely return on future visits to campus.
It was a busy time in Oxford! Our reservations were honored at the time we arrived in a busy restaurant. Three entrees - salmon, pork belly and sea bass....each was excellent! A bit salty on the sautéed spinach and we shared the comment with our waitress. Looking forward to our next visit.
This was not a normal night. Food wasn’t the best.
McEwens is my favorite, but sadly not on this visit, 3 of the 4 in group got the farmers plate, and it was not good. The green bean casserole was so thickly covered with cheese it was hard to find a green bean, and the fresh broccoli was so hard, it could barely be cut. The black bean salad was good as was the soup. But very disappointing for my out of town friends. I know this was a fluke, and I will continue to go there, but on this date it was a miss.
Outstanding food and service in a well designed environment! Excellent choices for all needs (beef/seafood/pork/gluten/healthy/decadent). The smoked duck was one of the best duck dishes I have had (I have it everywhere)! I will be back!
Excellent food and reasonable service. Somewhat crowded inside and quite noisy, probably due to tables being so close together. Hostess could learn to smile and put down her cell phone. They brought me two creme brûlée' before I told them to forget it. The first was watery, like soup. The second was also not set and the sugar had not been crystallized on top. Waiter may have been trying to cover too many tables as we had to flag him down a couple of times. All in all, we recommend the restaurant and would return.
THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT. I HAD THE SALMON AND IT WAS COOKED PERFECTLY!
The food was terrible. I don't say this lightly. My friend and I ordered the Mahi special. I also ordered a Cesar Salad. The Cesar Salad was awful. It didn't even seem to have Cesar dressing. It was some kind of what seemed to be a butter salt or something. I had to send it back for a wedge salad which was fair. The Mahi was a joke for me and my friend. I got the small end of the filet. It had a lot of dark meat, it was small and thin. The presentation was the fish only, laying in a small pile of beef gravy. It was terrible. I recommend you do not go to this place until they change management and hire a new chef.
The Sea bass was awesome. We had a great dinner and time.
My wife and I were first time visitors. I had the sea bass and it was extremely good. My wife had the duck which was also very very good. For dessert we had the banana creme pie and the cheesecake, followed by the high point coffee. Then Morgan Freeman walked past our table.... so it was a good experience.
McEwens continues to be our favorite restaurant and was the perfect place to celebrate good news. My husband had the filet, and I had the sea bass, and we highly recommend each.
Great spot. Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere. Quite pricey, but worth it on your anniversary!
Sea Bass with Mushroom Risotto was fabulous. Perfectly cooked fish and great umami in the sauce, with richness from the risotto.
Red Snapper Ceviche was also fresh and delicious.
Our group of 4 enjoyed brunch at McEwens on Sunday. Two of us had the breakfast plate, which was delicious and perfectly cooked. Another had the warm salmon salad (delicious), and another had the steak Benedict (only complaint was poached eggs were not runny).
Always excellent as always! We really enjoy McEwens Oxford.
Some of the seating needs repair for what you charge. Not a place for quite conversation (very loud).
However, the food was delicious and service was timely.
McEwens is a delicious treat in a small Southern town known for its gastronomic delights. You will enjoy an excellent meal.
We have dined here many times, always a great meal, great service and excellent wine list.
One of my favorite spots in Oxford. I eat lunch there a couple of times a week. Never am disappointed. Friendly staff; great food.
Without a doubt the best dining in Oxford!
The service was prompt, friendly and professional. We liked the decor and the creative menu.
I have eaten here several times and have enjoyed a good meal each visit. I especially enjoy there Sunday Brunch
My daughter and I were in town for a softball tournament. We always try to have a really nice meal while visiting other places. This place was superb from the first bite to the last. Highly recommended!
Four of us had Sunday brunch. We had the Bunless Burger, Shrimp and Grits, Veal, and Chicken Piccata. All dishes were well prepared and perfectly seasoned. All-in-all it was a great meal.
Wonderful service, delicious food. Accommodated us at the last minute with a change in the number of our party. Love McEwens!
Went to McEwen's for Sunday brunch to celebrate an Anniversary. Greeted by the hostess and seated quickly, amble time to review the menu, drinks served immediately, reasonable time from order to table service and lots of drink refills in between. My husband dropped his napkin and the server brought another one immediately and said he saw it hit the floor. Great brunch selections. I had the eggs benedict with steak and lump crabmeat. It was delicious. My husband chose the country fried veal and said it was amazing. Portions were nice and overall experience was 5 stars. The only item that needs work are the beignets...dough is too thick and taste not sweet enough.
Bartender is the best in Oxford
We were seated next to the bar which is pretty loud but maybe we should be happy to have found a table in Oxford on a big weekend. The menu was interesting - new dishes, new techniques but I didn't get the raves about the food from my guests this time. A little disappointing but the biscuits and drinks were great so we will be back.
Family get together.
This was our first visit to McEwen’s. Overall the food was good with good ingredients but the seasonings needed a little work. The appetizer of calamari we shared was very good but the pomodoro and mignonette sauces that accompanied it were under seasoned and left a lot to be desired. We each had a cup of the duck confit gumbo and while the quality of ingredients seemed high the roux had been overcooked and had a slightly burned flavor and it was too salty as if the salt used to cure the confit had not been adequately rinsed off before being added to the gumbo. The no cake lump crab cake was exactly as advertised with no breading and lots of crabmeat. However it did need some binder with seasoning to hold it together as it was bland.
McEwens is one of the best - if not the best - restaurants in Oxford, MS. Solid, but interesting menu, excellent and friendly waitstaff. A variety of tables, booths, etc. All in all, a treasure in a town known for excellent restaurants.
