We got to have our birthday dinner in the wine cellar! Such a wonderful ambience. The staff were all very attentive and helpful. When some of our party did not show and were late with their responses to our inquiries about whether they were coming, the staff was very understanding, and made us feel special despite them not coming. The food was excellent! Highly recommend McEwen’s!

McEwen's never disappoints. I had not been in a couple of years, and I was happy to discover that the restaurant is still the quality establishment it always has been. We were seated in a room next to a table of 14-16 people. When we arrived I was afraid we might never get served because of the large table next to us. To my amazement, our waitress was as attentive to our table as she was to the large table next to us. Our food was served in a timely manner and was perfect. The baked Brie appetizer was excellent and the redfish, catfish and steaks were cooked perfectly. There were two other tables in the same dining room that were 6+ people each, and if I have any even slightly negative comment, it would be that the noise level in the room was louder than I would have liked. Other than that minor annoyance, this was a fabulous experience.

Excellent waiter, great suggestions on wine and food selections. We shared a goat cheese and beet salad, a tenderloin with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus, and banana cream pie and everything was delicious. Service was spot on.

Great ambiance after a long city day! Service was wonderful even though we were one of the last tables of the night. Food was great! Don’t usually like banana desserts, but the server suggested their banana cream pie. It was amazing!

Excellent service at McEwens.. Went for birthday.. Good was delish.. Had grouper and steak... Steak WAS NOT as tender as I would have liked but it was well prepared, had great flavor and tasted great. Dessert (key lime) was also good. Valet parking helped the entire experience..

A pleasant experience. Sausage plate was ample and tasty. Candied pecans and house bbq were the standouts. Dinner orders were the Grilled Ribeye and a Black Cod and a vegetable slaw (orange zest was just present, but not overwhelming) over a bed of rice. The cod was perfect. Service was attentive and seemingly understanding of the proper timing of an appetizer and entree.

The food was excellent. I had a steak. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. It’s a popular place. By the time we left around 7pm it was full. The atmosphere was fun and vibrant.

A few more vegetables would make this place excellent. Tho, the offers are equal to other standard fare downtown. Everything else was grand. Top notch. Quality ingredients, atmosphere, staff . . . . Always on top of their game. We chose McEwens also because of their down home cuisine. And fish options. Now they have definitely got their momentum back since reopening.

In town visiting Memphis for a few days. McEwens was recommended so we tried it. We loved the atmosphere, the location and great wine list but the food was just OK. My husband and I both got the Chilean sea bass and it was very chewy. My spinach was very fishy tasting. My daughter got the catfish and it was just OK. We also did not enjoy the cheesecake we had for dessert.

They are excellent in their preparation of fish on the menu. It is expertly prepared. Just the right amount of crispiness on the exterior and succulent inside. I will get the Chilean Sea Bass again for sure. They have a comprehensive selection of bourbons (at least 50). I enjoyed the Wellers - McEwen Barrel at a reasonable price and excellent taste.

This is an excellent restaurant whether out with friends, date night or businesses dinners. They have a good array of vegetarian selections, the reason I often suggest McEwen’s for business meetings. I broke from my norm of a seafood selection and tried their “trust me vegetarian plate” last night it did not disappoint. Service here is always top notch. I also recommend McEwens bar, they have an excellent bourbon and inventive cocktail selection.
