McCray's Tavern - West Village Ratings and Reviews
Aubrie was rude af. She was so testy to leave she pressured us to pay numerous times before we were even ready. The few times she came to check up on us she was asking if were staying for another round. Very unprofessional. Food was mediocre which was such a surprise. The food is normally amazing but my buffalo rolls were burnt and the loaded chips were stale.
We used open table to find something. My local ATL friend said, um that area isn't all that cool. So I said, but they have local draft beer on tap, let's give it a try. So we did, and it was great! Good beer selection, good food, and great service! Who knew how close it was and is a great choice!
Great brunch with family. Lemon Ricotta pancakes were very good. The sauce was excellent with the pancakes. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Atmosphere was very casual. Waitstaff extremely friendly and continually checked to see if we needed anything. We will definitely return.
Sad to say this place has slowly gone down over time. We've been going here off an on since they opened and keep going back to give them another try but this last time was it. First, the food started going down and/or being inconsistent. Appetizers would come out not fully heated (spinach dip, nachos, etc.). Then food was just plain slow to be delivered. But service was still good so have continued to visit. But last few visits, service has been slow or non-existent. This visit, only a few tables were occupied and 3-4 servers were always hanging out at the kitchen pass but could never find our server or get help. This will be our last visit until we hear things have gotten better.
Had a great dinner at McCray's Tavern. We went to get a good hamburger and that's what we got! The food was delicious. We sat in the bar - which was a fun atmosphere. The staff was friendly and the service was good. It was too hot to sit outside, hopefully next time we can sit in the patio (which is dog friendly). I would have liked a cold mug to go with my beer - that's about my only negative comment.
Even though the reservation was booked a week in advance, it took over an hour for our food to arrive (11 people in our party.) 10 of us (finally) received our food while 1 had to wait another 10 minutes on his entree. Almost no server attention for drink refills during our hour wait on the food. They appeared to be short-staffed on server staff.
We have enjoyed the bar staff so much that we have never gotten a table. Every bartender who has served us has made outstanding drinks. We typically only order appetizers and intend to go back for a real meal within the next few weeks. The staff is polite and the drinks are good. I hope to offer more robust details on the food the next time we stop in.
This was a family lunch after my daughter's high school graduation. The salmon salad, which is typically my fav dish, was marginal. Two people in our party ordered it and both felt like it was greasy. Also, the homemade potato chips had way too much blue cheese on top. However, the biggest issue was service and delay in receiving our food. Not my typical experience, so very disappointed since family was here.
We have gone here for 4 years for mother's day brunch. Last year we were given seats in the bar area. Worst seats in the house. They gave us the same seats again. Horrible. They didn't want to move us until the manager got involved. My wife loves the grits. They were so so. Something had changed. They might of had $20 total in the desert table. Bread pudding with no flavor, Kroger yogurt and fruit, and cookies from a box. No chocolate at all. Plenty of potatoes, pasta and macaroni. Chicken fingers from the freezer. It just seemed cheap and 2nd rate. We will change next year
Our first visit was brief since we had a scheduled event. We found this gem through Open Table as we were driving and we pleasantly surprised at the location and the experience. My husband and I sat at the bar and were warmly greeted by the staff. Our drinks were made quickly and the appetizer we ordered was very good. They have an awesome selection of beer, many on tap. We will go back in the near future for a real dinner and maybe sit outside to see more of this lovely location. I will be able to offer a more detailed review of the food at that time. This would be a great spot to visit more than once.
Good service. Goid food. Good fun. We went with a large party and the menu choices met everyon's needs. Sat at the bar while waiting for everyone in iur party to arrive. The bartender was awesome; asked our names, intoduced herself and made us feel like regulars.
This place was average at best.
Steak was over cooked. Ordered the ribeye. Flavor was ok. Asparagus was good. Baked potato was a joke. It was an oversized potato with minimal toppings. Looks like something someone does at home when they just cut it open and hand to their kids...hardly any effort in the prep.
Wife got the ribs. For a bar, these ribs are unacceptable. Please do better. The macaroni and cheese soup would have been better but it wasn't supposed to be soupy. Never had macaroni and cheese so watery before.
Came because of our dining out book. Should've done the seafood restaurant in the same complex.
Service was adequate but nothing to write home about. She said that everything on the menu was great. I have to learn to stop trusting people I don't know.
We didn't complain about food cause...what's the point, we aren't coming back.
Seems like the type of place you go to grab a beer and appetizer on game day. The food is not the draw, it's the beer and the tvs...obviously.
I booked a table for a large party of 15 people. McCrays was perfect! They had everything ready for us when we arrived. The weather was nice, so they had the place opened up for
lots of fresh air. The wait staff was very hospitable and even took pictures of our group for us.
I have stated that the noise level was loud, but that was due to my own party. We were the loud ones. Sorry to the surrounding parties.
