Delicious food and awesome waiter (Nicholas). He took great care of our group.
One of my regular places to meet with friends for a dinner or celebrating. The location right on the square is great. A fun casual atmosphere, with great service and good food. A decent amount of vegetarian options.
Great service and great atmosphere. One of my favorite restaraunts on the square!
We made reservations to avoid the wait, and our table was ready within minutes. Our service was prompt, the staff was accommodating and our meal enjoyable.
The food was excellent. I think they were a little short staffed because our waiter was in a hurry
This is a really nice place for a date or grabbing food and drinks with friends. The decor is simple, and the food is really well done. We plan to go back again when the weather cools off to utilize the roof seating.
McRay's is a good place for groups. We typically have 6-10. They take reservations which is unusual for this type of restaurant. They have a good selection of beers.
The service is usually good. Enough attention without being annoying. I enjoy the paninis but have had burgers, nachos and wings-all good. Pasta salad is my favorite side.
Great food! My husband enjoyed the beer selection.
We went for brunch today (7.8.18) when the restaurant opened and were greeted by a friendly hostess. Our party of 4 enjoyed our meals. The kitchen manager greeted our table and offered his assistance if needed. There was a snafu with an omelet but it was immediately rectified and the server was very attentive. As we headed out the door, the hostess wished us well and continued to be very pleasant. We'd definitely go back!
Food was great .. everyone got something different and everyone loved what they had.
We have eaten at McCrayy’s several times and food was always good but his time Tavern dip was very fatty and the au jus was spilled all over my fries. Waitress did get me more au jus but never bothered to get me new fries. My husbands hamburger was good but asparagus was awful. Will be w while before we go back.
The fish and chips didn’t do it for me this time...too much batter. But my wife and son thoroughly enjoyed their ribs and buffalo chicken panini. And the skillet brownie with vanilla ice cream was a delicious shareable dessert for all of us! We’ll be back to try more.
They were out of just about everything but didn’t bother to tell until we tried to order. They were out of cod, grouper and salmon. Waitress would disappear for 15-20 minutes at a time....had to keep asking for drink refills. We ended up ordering food we did not want and that tasted like cardboard.
If you are thinking about this establishment....do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
First, the brunch comes with a mandatory 20% gratuity. This was not told to us up front. I was disappointed in the quality of the food and the service. There was not a lot of variety and the hot dishes we like warm at best. The dessert selection was disappointing as well. Our server allowed finished plates to pile up on the table. Needless to say, I will not go back for brunch again.
We had a great time. Waitress was wonderful.
I went here with my Son and his family. The food was great, had a wonderful craft beer and all of us really enjoyed ourselves. Special shout out to our waitress who was wonderful!
Great Place for a Birthday Dinner- everything was perfect...making a reservation ahead of time, was great, because we just walked in and sat down. ....just perfect meal, service and beer!
Our waiter, Alex, was horrible. The rooftop was fun, but the service was terrible.
I'd made a reservation requesting the roof for a Sunday evening at 5 pm. The hostess walked us to the stairs to the roof then passed the menus off to me and walked back to her stand - not even seeing if a table was available much less actually seating us. There was one table available which was yet to be cleaned which we took. Then we began our wait process. It took us over an hour that early on a Sunday to finish our dinner - and that was foregoing dessert due to time constraints. It appeared as though only one server was responsible for the entire rooftop area and was pretty much run ragged. There were empty tables inside downstairs and I couldn't help but wonder if there wouldn't have been some servers that could have been reassigned to help out upstairs, In spite of the poor service, the rooftop is a draw and we all enjoyed our meals.
very good service for a party of 7 and the brunch menu items were very good.
Great environment with really good food, our server wasn’t the best but not bad enough to ruin dinner! When in Lawrenceville definitely worth checking out!
The food was great, as was the service. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in the neighborhood.
The chicken tasted like wet cardboard but other than that it was nice
Love the upper outside deck for dining. Coleslaw was just horrible. Has no taste at all. Burgers good.
We always have a great time here. We meet our friends here because it's a good half way point for us. We have not been disappointed.
We were about 15 minutes earlier than our reservation since traffic is always hard to gauge and the staff seated us promptly upon our arrival. We ate there on a Friday night around 6 pm and were in the second room (where the stage area is) and the seating space is great-- you aren't crammed together like in other restaurants so there is a bit of privacy when talking. Our server was responsive, friendly, and knew the menu well. A bonus is their prices for a dinner are very reasonable (although individual sides are a bit too $)--- overall their prices are more reasonable and quality of food is better than most large 'chain' restaurants. I opted for the wedge salad which was very large and enough for me but I didn't know at first so I ordered a side of pasta salad for $4.00. I would not order the pasta salad again as it was rather bland and for $4.00 wasn't much worth it for the blandness and size. To be up front, the server did tell me the size before I ordered as I had asked--- I just thought it would have had more flavor and uniqueness than it did so live and learn- I won't order again. My husband had a burger and he liked it very much. Was cooked perfectly and tasty. He did order onion rings which was an add'l cost and said he wouldn't again as there weren't that many and it's an extra $1.50. We will be back as our experience was overall very good- staff were attentive and the food was good with decent prices. I am glad we had reservations... when we left the restaurant a bit after 7 pm the area by the front door was packed with people waiting.
Not a lot of options on the menu. The grits were under cooked. The stuffed French toast was just “OK”. It wasn’t the worst brunch that I’ve ever had nor was it the best.
Will I go back? Probably not.
We love McCray's and went for the special Burgers + Brews event in Gwinnett County. The $7 burger was Crazy good! We loved this event and hope it continues in the future. Now to my one criticism. The burger doesn't come with a side (that's fine). We normally order sandwiches that include a side and order the sauteed spinach. So this day we each ordered the sauteed spinach knowing we would have to pay for the sides. We got a tiny amount compared to what they normally serve and the cost was $4 each! We both agreed it was way overpriced for the few bites of spinach we each got. Other than that, great as always!
We knew it would be loud, so the noise score was affirmation. No problem with noise. Fun place. Our server was fantastic
Chose McCray's when a relative came into town. Unfortunately, we didn't realize it was trivia night and it was very noisy. Otherwise, the food is good but the Cali Cosmo is what we went there for specifically.
Great atmosphere, great food, great service and great management.
They did a great job making Valentines Day special.
It was lovely! Great food, great staff! Will come back soon!
We arrived at 4.20 and waited at least 5 min before someone came up and tried seating us ,but i explained i had made reservations with open table for valentines, I was told some one else would help me and they walked away. I waited another 10 min before another person came up and explained they were not finished setting up,,,I am glad that i did not take the 4;00 RESERVATION or i would of had waited 45 min to be seated. Finally we were seated and the ambiance was very festive and my date was very impressed. The real roses were a nice touch. The lobster rolls were a little over done, not golden brown but dark brown, but they were still very good, should be on the main menu all the time. The Chicken Marseilles and the Sea Bass were done to perfection very tender. The Red Velvet desert was to die for. Are waitress Sarah was very attentive and helped in ordering.
The food and service were both fantastic!! I highly recommend. It's quite noisy so not the best if you're looking for a quiet romantic spot.
My husband and I and another couple had dined at McCray's in Dec. and each couple was given a sealed envelope that had a coupon inside. Each couple was told to bring it back unsealed to receive the offer inside. We specifically came back to McCray's to use our coupons. However, the waiter told us that only one coupon could be used per table. We felt this was unfair since we were given the coupons when we dined together before and each couple paid separately. The food was good. The Cosmo was not good. The waiter wasn't the best.
Consistent food quality and excellent service. Menu items are solid, but would appreciate more dinner specials. Always enjoy !
McCray's never disappoints. Our group of theatre season ticket holders goes to lunch before each performance. We used to try a different restaurant every time. Because we have had such good experiences at McCray's, we've decided to go there exclusively.
The restaurant/bar was a bit noisier than usual as the college bowl games were on, but it didn't bother us. The food and service were wonderful, as usual. They were getting ready for their New Year's Eve Masquerade party later that night so they servers were dressed up!
