Loved everything about it. Will return. I hadn't been in a long time and glad I re-visited an old friend!
Food was awesome!! Service was great!
Great food. Service was poor. Waited forever for drinks and the restaurant was half empty. Should not have to wait 25 minutes for a beer.
Wonderful server and the same wonderful food!
Double date made awesome with trivia and half price chicken wings! The bread pudding was fantastic and the service was on point. Will be back!
Typical bar food, loud sports bar. Food presented well, and very tasty. Service was as expected.
Great food and location on the square. Great for a pre-theatre dinner.
Great value for the price. The food was excellent and the service was great. We will be back.
Came with a group and liked the variety on the menu. Asked for well done burger and got a burnt burger on outside and red on the inside. Would not come back. Many other restaurants to take a group to that can do a well done burger without burning it.
When I arrived on time for my reservation for my birthday brunch, the hostess informed us that a table had not been held and there were none available. No wait time could be given, we would just have to wait until someone leaves. So we left and will not return.
They unveiled a brand new brunch menu the morning of our reservation. Not sure if the service was slow due to that. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived, but it did take quite awhile for our server to come to our table. We’re not thrilled with the new brunch menu as most everything comes with potatoes - even the waffle sliders and the French toast. (Also the pancakes are gone.) Sides of meat now cost extra, which is fine but hold the potatoes please! After we finished our meal and mentioned the potatoes issue we were told we could have substituted fruit. Guess we should have asked!
Always delicious, and always friendly service! 🙂🙂
The hostess had our table ready when we arrived. We had asked for a good view of the game and we were not disappointed! The only complaint was the noise level... but Georgia was playing... to be expected!
The food was good and the service was OK. Our server was training someone so that may have been the issue. It was not bad, just not as attentive as we would have liked. We had to ask for things several times.
We spent an enjoyable evening dining on the roof. The food, drinks and service were superb.
I booked on open table about 3 weeks before our special birthday dinner with 9 guests, 4 from out of town. I stopped by 1 week before the dinner to ask about bringing a cake and flowers the day of the dinner and to request a certain table in the 2nd room which is a bit quieter. I stopped by ON the day of the dinner to drop off the cake and bud vase. I again requested the other room and asked that the cake be refrigerated and if the flowers could be on the table when we arrived. Upon entering the restaurant with my family, and especially my mom, who is turning 75, I was asked if we wanted to get the cake out right away. The cake was a surprise. Who starts with cake at any dinner party??? And then, she handed me the bud-vase, in front of my mom. Again, really?? As she started to lead us to our table, it was in the main room, where I said I didn’t want to be. She said they thought the other tables would be empty by now. So they told us to wait, the 3 week reservation for 9. Now they tried to right the table situation and set up 2 four top tables....6 would fit, but 9? Nope. We went to Dominic’s across the street and had an amazing dinner with impeccable service.
Great place to hangout, relax, enjoy some great food/drinks and watch the games.
Despite having reservations for dinner, my wife and I were sat in a booth in the bar area. The food was good (I had fish and chips) and I enjoyed and excellent beer (Erlinger Dunkel). They have a large beer selection of beers on tap. The waiter was slow and seemed new, so maybe just getting used to his job. Seems like a place better for having a beer with a buddy than a date with a wife.
We met our daughter and son-in- law, who live in Vinings, to celebrate my dear husband and soulmate's fiftieth anniversary of his twenty-nineth birthday...79! We had a great experience with service. Our food was very delicious and was served in a timely manner. There were a couple concerns, which I will share and attempt to keep it brief. We had a 7:00 reservation and was promptly guided to a booth as requested. I requested to sit in the last booth (we had enjoyed Mother's Day Brunch in the booth). I was standing quietly while waiting for the booth to be cleared and was approached by the dark hair hostess with glasses who stated there is a booth ready right there. I said OK and thank you. My other concern was the temperature. We are experiencing record temperatures, but the area was not comfortable while drinking and eating hot entrees. On the wsy to the restroom the bar area felt several degrees cooler. We love the spot and will hopefully return in the near future. I recently retired from teaching with 19+ years in Gwinnett and 18 years in Indiana.
I decided to try McCray's for a first date. My date and I had a very good experience and a wonderful evening. On our second date, we actually returned to McCray's and we had yet a very good experience. It has been decided that this is "our place" from now on! The staff is very friendly and attentive. Best I've ever known!
Food was awesome and the service was spectacular! A great downtown location!
Alex, our rooftop server, was outstanding 👍👍 I would definitely recommend the salads with homemade dressings 😋
Good food, good beer selection, good service as usual. One of our favorite spots for family date nights.
Wonderful food, great service. Nice beer and cocktail list too. I got the “Grizzly”, very large cheeseburger with bacon and delicious feta pasta salad on the side. Had two old-fashioneds. Very good. Calamari was fantastic. The tavern chips were great though they could use a little less bleu cheese dressing but otherwise very good. Everyone else loved their food. Desserts also amazing, bread pudding is what I got both times and it’s phenomenal. Wife got the blueberry cheesecake. This is second time we’ve come here to visit my parents and they recommended it. So we’ll be back.
Great service and good food. I had the chicken salad awesome!!
Everything made for a perfect Father's Day. The Bloody Mary Bar was outstanding!
We had a 4 generation party of 7 for a celebration. They were very accommodating even to the point of having a door to the room with a ramp from the outside. Our meals were very uneven in quality. My salmon topped salad was good though the kitchen had forgotten the dressing. My husband's beef sandwich, the special for the day, was tiny and with very little meat. The bread/bun was gummy and unappetizing. Other dishes were average. Our waiter was friendly and said he wanted to be helpful but disappeared for long stretches of time.
I absolutely love Mccray’ Tavern. Nice spot to hang with some friends. You can sit upstairs and get a nice view of Lawrenceville square. We sat inside this time though. Food was great! I highly recommend the Thai Chili wings and Southwest Wrap. The appetizer was phenomenal as well! Ordered the cheese dip. Drinks were delicious. I recommend going for the Southern Afternoon Tea. Service was fantastic. Our waitress really checked on us a lot but was not annoying at all. It was timed perfectly. Overall I love mccrays tavern and I will be back again soon!
We had reservations for 6pm. It was not crowded and were seated right away. My wife had the dos tacos, one grouper and one shrimp. She enjoyed it very much and said she would get it again.
Three of us placed our order. I ordered a burger med well and received rare! The waiter did not return to the table and I had to ask another waiter to track him down. He did not apologize or say he was sorry, but he appeared to be aggravated at my complaint. He took my rare burger after I had taken a bite out of it and cooked the same patty some more. I was stunned as I’m sure this is a violation of health regulations. We had a free birthday entree and two other entrees. The first bill had charges for all 3 entrees and the waiter said that the free entree had been taken off ( which it had not). After about 5 minutes of trying to convince him the bill was incorrect, he took the cost of the cheapest entree off. The restaurant was NOT busy but the waiter showed no interest in providing just the basic service. This occurred on Tues June 4 at 7 pm. I would have asked for a 100 percent refund of oll 3 entrees but my daughter (birthday girl) had picked this restaurant and I did not want to embarrass her. If you have any questions and are really interested in your restaurant providing good food in a quality atmosphere, you can call Jim at 859 492 4439. If I don’t get any response I will assume that this level of service is acceptable to managers/owners and you don’t want my business just like the waiter didn’t want our business.
We arrived shortly after they opened for the day. Seated and served promptly for Sunday Brunch. The food was very good; server (Hunter) friendly and professional.
We decided to have dinner at McCray's before catching a play at the Aurora Theater. It was a good decision. We were initially worried because they were also hosting trivia night but the service was great and the food came out in a decent time. The fried mac and cheese balls were really good but could be cheesier. We didn't care too much for the honey mustard sauce it was served with. Overall, good experience and looking forward to going back.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was good, especially considering the price. The kitchen was slow on the Friday night I came--about 40 minutes for 6 entrees. I come for the atmosphere and the view of downtown Lawrenceville from the top deck! It's good for families, too.
Great experience. The hostess was very nice. My reservation, through Open Table, was at 1 pm. I arrived early and got seated immediately and was able to order a beverage prior to the other person arriving.
Our server was Graham and he was very good. He was attentive but did not constantly interrupt.
We started with two appetizers, the pimento cheese hot dip with pita bread and the fried okra which came with a delicious dipping sauce. This was a great combination.
We then shared the Shrimp 'N Grits. They were awesome. The grits were cooked to perfection. The shrimp were not tough and overcooked. The sausage added a nice bite.
I will definitely go back!
Our food came out super late. The server kept messing up too but I at least understand that because he was busy. We requested out burgers to be cooked medium rare and I was very specific about that! The server said that it would take a while to cook another burger again so he just took it off the bill. Overall, not too happy about the experience.
No appetizer selections that were healthier- maybe veges or something would be a nice alternative to the rest. I usually get hummus but did not want it this time. We were seated upstairs at the top entrance to that level so it was constant traffic and lots of talking. Great service and assistance with beer selection. Food was just average.
21st birthday celebration
Great service. Loved the buffet.
It was a pretty lackluster brunch for us for the price. The best part for me was the shrimp cocktail. It's pretty hard to mess that one up. The prime rib was cooked well, but lacked flavor. Our party of 6 was very disappointed in the desserts. When you are paying $30 per person you would expect some nice desserts. Offering hard, stale store bought sugar and chocolate chip cookies, and frozen petit fours from Costco's freezer section is crazy. It's Easter brunch. At least offer some coconut cake, banana pudding, etc. All of the bread was not fresh...the croissants for the chicken salad, mini bagels, and danishes all tasted old. I bit into a mini quiche (also from the frozen section of a store) and it was still frozen in the middle and they didn't have them over any heating element, so they were all served cold. Cold quiche = YUCK! I just expected more. Service was a bit slow. We had empty drinks most of the meal. Will not return or recommend for Easter Brunch.
