Have always been a huge fan of this restaurant but the changes they have made to the whole experience of eating there were disappointing. It no longer feels very special. So sad. It's like it's been dumbed down.

Visited for brunch last Sunday with friends visiting from Germany. Wait staff excellent and knowledgeable - as usual. Very interesting menu and sources but my visitors felt the menu was a bit limited - not enough seafood offerings. Additionally they complained about the lack of conventional table salt as the restaurant offers only a small bowl of sea salt ( I guess) for those requesting salt. All too foodie for me. As usual we had to ask the staff to turn down the music so we could comfortably talk which they promptly did. Quibbles really as it was a great meal in a great restaurant.

This was our first trip to McCrady's since they went to the tavern format and we certainly enjoyed it. The atmosphere is more casual but still upscale, with the food and prices still in the fine dining category.

Cocktails were terrible. The waiter acted like a condescending snob. We had escargot in bone marrow which tasted like cold mushroom soup. Entrees were good but by the time they came we realized we made. Mistake going to this over rated place that was more concerned with sitting on its laurels than servicing current guests.

Not many options for someone like me with food sensitivities. Disappointed that the highly recommended filet mignon was undercooked twice and I ended up leaving only having some veggies. Our server, Jacqueline was the best part of the experience.

We came here for my boyfriend’s birthday and had a spectacular meal! The roast chicken was really delicious, and they decorated the Yule log cake for us too for his birthday. Our server was funny and very kind. Excellent experience all around!

The food was amazing. However, we had a 10:30 PM reservation and we found out the kitchen closes at 11 PM - so we were rushed. The server was very aggressive in taking our orders and rushing us thru the experience. We were the last customers seated in the restaurant and I think if they are going to take late reservations that they should not rush you thru the experience. The drinks were very expensive.

Used to eat at McCrady’s former restaurant - first time we had eaten since it became the Tavern. Food was over the top! Prices were reasonable and service was excellent. Sean Bro k did not disappoint. Highly recommend. We will be back!

Difficult getting me an alternative to my onion allergy. They tried, but didn’t get there. I have gone to the best restaurants all over the world and everyone else gets the dish I order modified to my liking. It was my 70th birthday so tried to choose a special place. Really too bad. Did try to make up by giving three free deserts. Nice, but a lazy way out. Disappointed with so many other grand restaurants in Charleston

Sadly McGrady’s Tavern looks to be on its way out. Used to be one of our favorite joints in town, but the meal quality and service has been trending downward and our most recent visit will be the last. Even their bearnaise infused burger - which used to be great - has changed for the worse. Too bad.

Walked in and loved the feel of the place. Really wanted to like this place. But.....was not to be. Charleston has a lot of great restaurants but this is not one of them. Service was slow right off the bat. Waiter kept disappearing on us. Had to flag down another waiter twice to get some attention. We order a bottle of wine, then were told they don’t have it anymore, then the manager helped us on another. Came back with a different year. I can overlook this sort of thing but not after what happened next. When we ordered wine, the waiter told us there was only one more of the fish special left. I asked if he could hold it but not cook it until we get our whole order in. When it later came, my friend’s dinner was hot and mine was at best luke warm. Again, Ihad to ask a busboy to get my waiter. It was very clear it had been sitting there a LONG time. Now a good restaurant would have either cooked me another one, offered me something different, or given it was the last one, offer to warm it up, then comp us the meal, dessert or something! Nope. Only option offered was to warm it up, which meant putting it in the oven for a few minutes. So he took it back and of course it back dried out. He later came by and asked how it was, and I told him what I thought. Again, no response. The manager also came over later to pour us some more of our wine and he had no idea what had happened, so I told him. The only response was we are sorry. So...would not repeat. This place used to be a gem. Not any more. Only gave it a three because my friends dinner was fine. Otherwise would have been a one.

The service was excellent. There were not many red wince choices between $50 and $75. We would like to see some less expensive red wines.

Overall the food was good. We shared the marrow stuffed with diced escargot. Although there were a few in the bone, most was outside. The pasta of the day was very good. The pork was not medium rare as requested.

All in all, it was good dining experience.

We would recommend this restaurant to everyone! A must try if you are visiting Charleston!

My husband and I had dinner at McCrady's this past weekend. The atmosphere is cozy and historical with an uptown feel. I can't compliment the service and food enough! Our entrees were superb! I chose wreck fish with autumn squash, kale, peanut and vadouvan. My husband ordered messinessi pasta with local shrimp, burrata, tomato and calabrian chilies. We also had the appetizer Beet "au Poivre", watercress, and blue cheese. The entrees and appetizer were perfect in presentation and in flavor. I can't compliment the chef enough. Our servers, Patrick and Duncan, were both personable and professional. We highly recommend McCrady's Tavern!

We were very disappointed with our visit. We went for brunch with reservations. It was about 45 min before brunch was over so there was only a few tables. We sat for about 10 min before we were even acknowledged even though we were passed and looked at numerous times. As I was about to go up to the hostess to advise, I saw who was eventually our server motion her head our way to two other severs and her facial expressions showed she was not happy. Finally she said acknowledged us, and about 15 min after we were there we gave our drink order. We ordered sweet tea. Now, if they did not have sweet tea, the server should have stated, we do not have it, but I can bring sweetner/ simple syrup to sweeten the tea. Instead she just brought out the symple syrup to us so we can mix it ourselves. Now, why didn't the bar tenor or she do this or advised? It seemed a little strange for a higher end establishment. My husband burger was very under done, and his potato crisps were good, but extremely greasy. My friend and I had the quiche. The menu did not describe it had an uncooked egg yolk on top, again something I would have asked for without. The quiches were very greasy also. The pastry of the day was good, but would have been more worth it if it were warmed. This was such a poor experience I doubt we would return.

We were greeted with a warm smile by the hostess.
Our server -Max- was outstanding. He took time with us to explain all of our questions and to offer suggestions. Our food arrived at a nice slow pace, as requested.
My martini (cathead vodka) was the best I have had in years.
Our food had great taste profiles. The turtle pie was to die for delicious, tiramisu was very good but the squash cake was not as wonderful.
Would go back in a heart beat. Thanks to the kitchen for preparing a delicious experience.
