I have always considered The inside Decour of this location to be one of the best in Charleston. I love this new concept. Did food for all four people with us was excellent. We took advantage of the restaurant week special and it was a great value. Can’t wait to return.
Nice decor. We had reservations and were seated immediately with no waiting. Our server Page was outstanding and made sure we were satisfied with our food. She was also very knowledgeable about the food and drink selections. The only issue was that the restaurant was very chilly. The ambience would have been greatly enhanced if the fireplaces had been working. All things considered it was a good dining experience.
Hubby had the pasta dish. Noodles were huge and he said tasted like dough. He was unimpressed. I had the roast chicken and escalloped potatoes. Chicken was a 'C' at best. Potatoes tasted like the came out of a box. Beautiful restaurant, fireplace, bar. Food was not good. Way over priced for the quality of the food. We won't return.
We decided to eat at the bar as the restaurant was pretty empty. The bartender was a bit annoyed I asked him to wipe down the bar. So a bad start. Ordered a cocktail and received the menu. Bartender never came back not to refresh our cocktail nor to take our food order. Another waiter had to take our money. I was sad and disappointed.
Had a reservation for 7:45, showed up at 7 and got a couple drinks at the bar. The bartender was amazing and had great suggestions for new drinks. However, after getting drinks at the bar we waited by the hostess for 35 mins before finally getting seated at 8:20. The food was awesome and same goes for our waitress. My only complaint it having a reservation and still having to wait over a half hour to be seated.
Visited for brunch last Sunday with friends visiting from Germany. Wait staff excellent and knowledgeable - as usual. Very interesting menu and sources but my visitors felt the menu was a bit limited - not enough seafood offerings. Additionally they complained about the lack of conventional table salt as the restaurant offers only a small bowl of sea salt ( I guess) for those requesting salt. All too foodie for me. As usual we had to ask the staff to turn down the music so we could comfortably talk which they promptly did. Quibbles really as it was a great meal in a great restaurant.
Cocktails were terrible. The waiter acted like a condescending snob. We had escargot in bone marrow which tasted like cold mushroom soup. Entrees were good but by the time they came we realized we made. Mistake going to this over rated place that was more concerned with sitting on its laurels than servicing current guests.
Not many options for someone like me with food sensitivities. Disappointed that the highly recommended filet mignon was undercooked twice and I ended up leaving only having some veggies. Our server, Jacqueline was the best part of the experience.
The food was amazing. However, we had a 10:30 PM reservation and we found out the kitchen closes at 11 PM - so we were rushed. The server was very aggressive in taking our orders and rushing us thru the experience. We were the last customers seated in the restaurant and I think if they are going to take late reservations that they should not rush you thru the experience. The drinks were very expensive.
