I had a really unfortunate experience for a New Year's Eve dinner. Although we made reservations at 8 pm, McCormick's wasn't able to seat us until 8:30. Not explanation or apology was offered. I ordered the house special salmon as my entree. It arrived devoid of most of the ingredients described on the menu. For example, the menu said the dish contained asparagus and onions... my dish arrived with a single, small stalk of asparagus that was hidden under the salmon and no onions. The fish itself was bland, dry and terribly overcooked. When I informed the waitress, she told the kitchen and then brought a new plate out in less than three minutes, which made me assume that the kitchen just gave me someone else's order. The second dish had the same problems. The fish was overcooked and the ingredients listed on the menu were nowhere to be seen. The dish was comped on the menu, but my New Year's Eve dinner was basically ruined. :(

So extremely disappointed! We come to this restaurant often and have watched the decline in service and in food time and time again. This will be the last time we come to McCormick's downtown Denver. Couldn't get drinks, wine 20 minutes into our meal. Food was not hot and the special "stuffed salmon was bland, no flavor and under cooked. Salmon was the second choice as there were no crab legs on the menu... AGAIN! A seafood house with no crab legs... this would be the third time we have experienced this...

I will say that our server had a great attitude despite the fact that she had way too many tables to manage great service to all. Would have complained but she could have done nothing about it.

This would be the second $200 - $250 dinner I've had at this restaurant in 2 months. Tough to justify coming back.

Sorry McCormick's... you've lost it....
Sincerely hope your parent company Landry's gets if figured out before this great location is gone!

We went to McCormick's for New Year's Eve. Our table wasn't quite ready yet when we got there, so we went to the Cruise room (prohibition bar in the hotel) and ordered drinks. Our server was great, but the drinks and check took almost 15 minutes - which wouldn't have been a big deal, but of course our table was ready after only 10 minutes so it was a bit awkward. I will say they had the BEST drinks I've ever had!! So the wait was worth it.

As for dinner - the wine of the day was delicious as was the mushroom flatbread appetizer that we ordered. Our server was very sweet, and didn't bother us very much which was nice because we didn't feel rushed or pressured to leave on a Holiday night. Unfortunately, both of our steak dinners were cold by the time they got to us (again, New Year's Eve probably made them busier than usual). They did take my husband's back and re-cook it, and our server said the manager would be over to talk to us but he never came, nor did we receive any kind of discount for the cold meals.

It was pretty expensive - the drinks at the Cruise room were close to $18 each including tip and the steak dinners were delicious but not necessarily worth the $40 price tags. Also, we got put behind the bar in the walk through from the bar to the restaurant, not actually in the restaurant itself, which was a little disappointing.

Overall, we had a nice time and it was a nice restaurant, but we will probably look somewhere else for next New Year's Eve.

We had a new years eve meal. The food was quite good. The service was awful. The waitress was slow and did not seem that attentive and failed to provide things that she promised to provide. Food was very slow in arriving. When we arrived, we place a drink order and waited 40 minutes to get them. When they were delivered, two of the 4 drinks were not correct.

I would go back to this place again but not on a holiday or new years.

There did not seem enough waiters for the crowd in attendance.

Atmosphere was amazing! Can't really recommend the food. Food was underwhelming. Pappadauex has better food for the price. Love the location, service and the ambiance and loved the bartender's at the cruise room. My wife and I had a great time even though food was a bit of a disappointment.

EDIT: Landry Select Club points have been added retroactively.

Upon arrival we were seated, late, in a bar under a big screen football game. On Christmas. Not at all what I wanted. Eventually the manager moved us but the mood was already deflated by that point. There are so many other options to dine prior to a DCPA event...go elsewhere.

Insult to injury? We weren't credited our Landry's Select Club points. Lovely. $125--not a small bill.

We were seated in the dining room annex and virtually ignored for 20 min....no water, no offer of drinks, etc. We snagged a manager who got us a good waitress and also comped our appetizers, for which we are thankful. But the food was pretty ordinary and the early lack of service (which has happened to us twice before) was hard to overcome. We will probably not recommend the restaurant for any occasion. Sorry.

We made a reservation for Christmas Eve at 7 PM. We were not seated until 7:30 PM. Yes it was a busy holiday evening, but it seems to me a restaurant can plan their reservations accordingly.

Then we were not seated in the main dining room, just an auxiliary room off to the side. If we return I will be sure to specify main dining room, which is really charming. Service was prompt. Food (we both had fish) was good and served hot off the grill.

There is nothing we'd like better than to give this a higher rating, but this time we simply can't. The Oxford Hotel is a beautiful place so the ambiance was just right for a nice Christmas Eve dinner. We have had a sentimental attachment to it for years.
As for our dining experience, it was a mixed bag. We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation and were seated right away, so we were off to a great start. The hostess did a nice job seating us and there were a number of staff members standing near our table throughout the evening so it appeared they were well prepared for the holiday crowd. It's too bad no one wished us a Happy Holiday (as I mentioned, it was Christmas Eve as well as the first night of Chanukah).
Once seated, we found a screw from the table and an extra fork on the table that were left there the entire meal. Water was not served right away-we had to ask for it. It took a long time for our cocktails to arrive-the first round as well as the second, though the spiced pear martini was deelish! The shrimp and calamari appetizers were tasty. My husband ordered mashed potatoes to go with his meal and had to ask about them after dinner had been served. He finished his steak and still no mashed potatoes, so he canceled the order. There was nothing wrong with my flounder but it was nothing special-I would describe it as tasting like a fish stick, which is probably not the kind of review the chef would hope for.
The music playing in the background sounded like it was more appropriate for The Cruise Room, not for a fine dining experience.
Our waitress was lovely.

We went to McCormick for lunch. We arrived at noon. We ordered our cocktails at 12:05. We ordered our meal at 12:10. Our salad arrived at 12:20. Our cocktails arrived at 12:30, after we had finished our salad. We were actually looking forward to having a cocktail PRIOR to the food. The waiter's explanation? "The bar was slammed". The restaurant was half empty. The food arrived 20 minutes after our cocktails. I ordered a glass of wine prior to the meal arriving. The glass of wine arrived as I was taking my last bite. We paid the bill in cash, expecting change. When I received my Landry's card back I must have looked confused because the waiter said "Oh, you wanted change?" Had I not wanted change, the tip would have been over 25% of the bill. Quite outlandish for the poor service we received. Needless to say, we will not be dining there again, or recommending it to others, unless we are convinced that these poor conditions have been corrected.

I have eaten at McCormick's all over USA and was extremely disappointed that the Denver location did not measure up. Service was lackadaisical and server kept trying to engage us in insipid conversation. Food was awful and did not match descriptions of what was ordered. A cucumber salad was missing from the organic salmon dish, and my swordfish with crab had spinach underneath that tasted like it had been soak in cleaning solution, and swordfish was not completely cooked.

I have not been here for some years and had Xmas Eve here about ten years ago. The level of professionalism and appearance of the staff has gone down a notch - perhaps the dumbing down on par with most restaurants. Staff should be positioned and erect at various wall areas during dining and should only approach when bit APPEARS that something is needed. I don't want to be your friend or REPSPOND to your asking of a review. I don't like sloppy appearance either. In other words - this is how it was and not now. The lights were a little too bright too. The food was good -- the funniest thing was that no one seemed to know what a 'Highball' cocktail is. This being a staple of restaurants for most of the mid-20th century. Maybe next time I will really throw then off and ask for a 'Mary Pickford'!

I absolutely love this place!! My daughter and I went here last year for Christmas, and this year for Thanksgiving, and as always, we had a great holiday dinner here. Great food and great atmosphere - the Christmas decorations were up in the bar/restaurant, and also in the adjoining Oxford Hotel, so it was very festive. Hanging out in the bar before dinner was also great, as always. Highly recommend McCormick's in LoDo.

Service has deteriorated noticeably at this restaurant since being bought out by Landry's. I waited twenty minutes for a glass of wine (was told there was a miscommunication); the waiter did not offer ground pepper with the salads; my fish came with a broth which needed a spoon...I asked for one but by the time it arrived I had finished the meal and the broth was cold. This will no longer be our 'go-to' fish restaurant in Denver.
