30mins late to seat us based on reservations.
missed a place setting and chair for one of my guests.
brought out wrong entree for my wife.
NOT TOO PLEASED
I had a really unfortunate experience for a New Year's Eve dinner. Although we made reservations at 8 pm, McCormick's wasn't able to seat us until 8:30. Not explanation or apology was offered. I ordered the house special salmon as my entree. It arrived devoid of most of the ingredients described on the menu. For example, the menu said the dish contained asparagus and onions... my dish arrived with a single, small stalk of asparagus that was hidden under the salmon and no onions. The fish itself was bland, dry and terribly overcooked. When I informed the waitress, she told the kitchen and then brought a new plate out in less than three minutes, which made me assume that the kitchen just gave me someone else's order. The second dish had the same problems. The fish was overcooked and the ingredients listed on the menu were nowhere to be seen. The dish was comped on the menu, but my New Year's Eve dinner was basically ruined. :(
So extremely disappointed! We come to this restaurant often and have watched the decline in service and in food time and time again. This will be the last time we come to McCormick's downtown Denver. Couldn't get drinks, wine 20 minutes into our meal. Food was not hot and the special "stuffed salmon was bland, no flavor and under cooked. Salmon was the second choice as there were no crab legs on the menu... AGAIN! A seafood house with no crab legs... this would be the third time we have experienced this...
I will say that our server had a great attitude despite the fact that she had way too many tables to manage great service to all. Would have complained but she could have done nothing about it.
This would be the second $200 - $250 dinner I've had at this restaurant in 2 months. Tough to justify coming back.
Sorry McCormick's... you've lost it....
Sincerely hope your parent company Landry's gets if figured out before this great location is gone!
We went to McCormick's for New Year's Eve. Our table wasn't quite ready yet when we got there, so we went to the Cruise room (prohibition bar in the hotel) and ordered drinks. Our server was great, but the drinks and check took almost 15 minutes - which wouldn't have been a big deal, but of course our table was ready after only 10 minutes so it was a bit awkward. I will say they had the BEST drinks I've ever had!! So the wait was worth it.
As for dinner - the wine of the day was delicious as was the mushroom flatbread appetizer that we ordered. Our server was very sweet, and didn't bother us very much which was nice because we didn't feel rushed or pressured to leave on a Holiday night. Unfortunately, both of our steak dinners were cold by the time they got to us (again, New Year's Eve probably made them busier than usual). They did take my husband's back and re-cook it, and our server said the manager would be over to talk to us but he never came, nor did we receive any kind of discount for the cold meals.
It was pretty expensive - the drinks at the Cruise room were close to $18 each including tip and the steak dinners were delicious but not necessarily worth the $40 price tags. Also, we got put behind the bar in the walk through from the bar to the restaurant, not actually in the restaurant itself, which was a little disappointing.
Overall, we had a nice time and it was a nice restaurant, but we will probably look somewhere else for next New Year's Eve.
We had a new years eve meal. The food was quite good. The service was awful. The waitress was slow and did not seem that attentive and failed to provide things that she promised to provide. Food was very slow in arriving. When we arrived, we place a drink order and waited 40 minutes to get them. When they were delivered, two of the 4 drinks were not correct.
I would go back to this place again but not on a holiday or new years.
There did not seem enough waiters for the crowd in attendance.
Always a great place to go. Seafood is outstanding and service is absolutely the best!
Our server, Nazreen, was outstanding. Always smiling, attentive without being intrusive.
Atmosphere was amazing! Can't really recommend the food. Food was underwhelming. Pappadauex has better food for the price. Love the location, service and the ambiance and loved the bartender's at the cruise room. My wife and I had a great time even though food was a bit of a disappointment.
Food was good but was not warm enough. It must have not been served soon enough after preparation.
Returned for Wednesday Peel & Shuck, which we Had Done Before!!! $1 Shrimp/Oysters!!! SHrimp were Marvelous as Always, Oysters were AWful!!! Didn't Even Eat Half!!! to the Bartenders Credit, SHe Removed them from our Bill immediately!!! Everything Else was Delightful as it ALways is. To say it Left a Bad Taste in our mouth is an understatement!!!! But we've Had Too Many Great Experiences not to Go Back & Try Again!!!
Great service! The steak and lobster was perfectly done!
EDIT: Landry Select Club points have been added retroactively.
Upon arrival we were seated, late, in a bar under a big screen football game. On Christmas. Not at all what I wanted. Eventually the manager moved us but the mood was already deflated by that point. There are so many other options to dine prior to a DCPA event...go elsewhere.
Insult to injury? We weren't credited our Landry's Select Club points. Lovely. $125--not a small bill.
We were seated in the dining room annex and virtually ignored for 20 min....no water, no offer of drinks, etc. We snagged a manager who got us a good waitress and also comped our appetizers, for which we are thankful. But the food was pretty ordinary and the early lack of service (which has happened to us twice before) was hard to overcome. We will probably not recommend the restaurant for any occasion. Sorry.
We had a good experience just all our food was on the cold side, the wine we order they were out and suggestion was okay.
We made a reservation for Christmas Eve at 7 PM. We were not seated until 7:30 PM. Yes it was a busy holiday evening, but it seems to me a restaurant can plan their reservations accordingly.
Then we were not seated in the main dining room, just an auxiliary room off to the side. If we return I will be sure to specify main dining room, which is really charming. Service was prompt. Food (we both had fish) was good and served hot off the grill.
We had an excellent Christmas Eve dinner. Although we were seated 30 min after our reservation time, the service and food made up for it. Highly recommend.
There is nothing we'd like better than to give this a higher rating, but this time we simply can't. The Oxford Hotel is a beautiful place so the ambiance was just right for a nice Christmas Eve dinner. We have had a sentimental attachment to it for years.
As for our dining experience, it was a mixed bag. We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation and were seated right away, so we were off to a great start. The hostess did a nice job seating us and there were a number of staff members standing near our table throughout the evening so it appeared they were well prepared for the holiday crowd. It's too bad no one wished us a Happy Holiday (as I mentioned, it was Christmas Eve as well as the first night of Chanukah).
Once seated, we found a screw from the table and an extra fork on the table that were left there the entire meal. Water was not served right away-we had to ask for it. It took a long time for our cocktails to arrive-the first round as well as the second, though the spiced pear martini was deelish! The shrimp and calamari appetizers were tasty. My husband ordered mashed potatoes to go with his meal and had to ask about them after dinner had been served. He finished his steak and still no mashed potatoes, so he canceled the order. There was nothing wrong with my flounder but it was nothing special-I would describe it as tasting like a fish stick, which is probably not the kind of review the chef would hope for.
The music playing in the background sounded like it was more appropriate for The Cruise Room, not for a fine dining experience.
Our waitress was lovely.
I took myself out for my birthday (Christmas Eve), and enjoyed every minute here! The service was excellent, the cocktails divine, and the food was everything I'd hoped for. Presentation was a little sloppy, but taste and temperature were great.
We had anew Server but she was so nice and helpful, we really appreciated her patience and attentiveness.
A most disconcerting negative Christmas Eve experience
