McCormick's Fish House - Denver - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
We were celebrating a friend's birthday and could not have been more pleased. The food was prepared excellently. The service was great. I had the lobster and Wayne took care of everything so that I didn't need the dreaded lobster bib. My friend had the cashew encrusted tilapia and was very happy with it.
As a member of Landry's Club, I frequent McCormick's. The benefits are quite good, so this time we dined free! It is one of the top places for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and then check out the Cruise Room right next door. The Oxford Hotel has great staff, valet parking, and a great ambience. Give yourself a treat, go early and have a nice breakfast.
I have eaten at McCormick s in the past, but it had been a long while. We went specifically for steak and lobster. After being seated we ordered drinks and an appetizer of deep fried lobster tail, which was delicious. Our order was taken by a lovely waitress. 3 of 4 of our party ordered steak and lobster. After about 20 minutes a manager comes out and tells us they are out of the steak that is normally served with the lobster and would we mind upgrading to a better steak. We were happy to do this. Another 30 minutes goes by and the manager comes out and tells us they are out of lobster. What? we've been waiting an hour and now you're out of lobster? The restaurant was not busy and we arrived at 6:30. They had a serious problem with their kitchen and communication. They finally used live lobsters to fill our order instead of just the tails. The food was good when we finally got it. We were just shocked at them being out of steak and lobster and taking so long to communicate it to us. I will probably think twice before dining there again
My swordfish casino was AMAZING. I thought my husband's parmesan flounder was less amazing. It's not really their fault, but the whole place was stuffy and smelled like pot due to a group of bros there dining, but fortunately, the patio saved the night.
Also, our waitress (tattoos and glasses) was amazing. When she heard it was our anniversary, she walked over to The Oxford with us to take a good picture, warning us that the patio washes people out. Spectacular service!
My husband and I went to McCormick's on Memorial day as they were recognizing our veterans with a free meal. We have been here several times, and have always walked away very happy. The ambiance and food were great as always, but our server, and of course I can't remember her name, seemed to be "out to lunch". Usually when we are seated, we are greeted immediately given water. This time, it was at least 5 to 10 minutes before anyone came to our table. We gave her our drink order, rusty nail for him and water for me. Time went by, my water came, we ordered our lunch, that came, then she ran up to the table, "Oh my gosh, I forgot to put your drink order in, my husbands. The bill came, I would have thought that an establishment like this, the waiter would not have billed for something she forgot. Obviously the management did not know about this. We'll go back, but I will make sure she is not our waitress.
Very disappointing. Had been to this establishment years ago and the only difference is the food, service and prices; unfortunately those are going in the wrong and opposite directions. The server could easily be mischaracterized for the waitstaff at a Willie Gs establishment - wait both Landrys, am I on to something - who tried to speak about the restaurant and hotel history and unfortunately didnt know what she was talking about. Just Disappointing. For $139 We received plain mash with unrecognizable smaller stuffed salmon and a regretable and forgetful sirloin steak with broccolini (code for long green spinach like strips? that were limp and not edible). The Oban 14 and lobster bisque saved you but i noticed the extra croutons in lieu of more lobster pieces (only 2)? I couldnt taste alcohol in my wifes grey goose/ grapefruit concoction- do you even have grey goose? I provided an additional $20 tip only because I felt sorry for the server. But I hear breakfast is good!
Our party of 6 were the only people in the restaurant on a Friday afternoon at 1pm. Very strange. The food was lukewarm. Our waiter was good, but the service was very slow given we were the only table there. This place has gone downhill since the last time we were there a few years ago. Very sad.
Very disappointing. The fried shrimp was overcooked. We waited quite a while for our server to greet us, the restaurant was so cold we asked if they could adjust the thermostat so we could remove our coats. Took a while for the oysters to arrive, then the soup came out before we could finish our appetizer. Have eaten at McCormick's many many times and wont be returning in the future. Very disappointing for an anniversary dinner.
The place is beautiful and the food is good. However, the service is terrible. It took us an hour and one half to get our dinner. I would have given up and just drank, but you couldn't get a drink either.
Needless to say, I won't be back. The prices are high and paying those kinds of prices demands very good service. It is a very poor value.
We have really enjoyed our dinning experience at McCormick's in the past, however this one was not good. I made this reservation for my wife and her friends to celebrate my wife's birthday. They informed me that the hostess was very rude and acting like she was being inconvenienced, kept wanting to switch tables on them just because 1 of their party of 4 could not make it. It took a server about 30 minutes to serve them, a manager got them drinks but then bailed, the server even told them that he did not know what he was doing. The food has always been great in the past, but this time it was just average, items ordered were not given, or the waiter kept arguing that regular potatoes were truffle potatoes when all the orders were the same. Overall the experience was very poor, it's disappointing because McCormick's has been one of our favorites and we probably will not go back.
The waiter was buried, or something, and it took us nearly an hour to get our check and pay for the meal. I've never had that happen before, and it was very surprising, and completely unpleasant as it made us late for the symphony. If it happens again, I'll be changing one of my favorite restaurants.
