My wife and I have dined at this restaurant a number of times, but this time was different. It was for the restaurants Veteran's Day free meal for Vets. They offer a very nice menu an they even treated my wife. The service was a little off. I believe that’s because we had dinner early. This is not when the “A” team is on. It wasn’t really a problem. This place has always been one of our favorites and will remain so.
Great meal with good service despite a huge number of veterans there for dinner. Always appreciative of the way M&S honors vets with a lovely complimentary meal. Thanks to them.
It was Veterans Day and I am a vet so I had a delicious free dinner. It was just very very busy and our server was running hard making his own drinks and trying very hard to keep up with the flow. But they were out of the salmon and they were out of the mix for the martini that I had ordered. So I guess it could’ve been a little bit better but they really worked hard.
Great food and great service! We ordered Shrimp scampi and salmon on a plank. Both were delicious. Hostess and waiter were outstanding, courteous and efficient. They were attentive and refilled our sodas without being asked. Great experience
Pre-event dinner, which we planned for a leisurely time. Arrived early, to a mostly empty restaurant. Sat for a significant wait before the waiter came over. Ordered drinks and dinner. Another group of 5 was seated immediate to our booth, and the party was positioned so that we could not exit the booth without climbing around them. The food was great though. After the main course, a manager came over to take our plates and got us a dessert menu. We ordered a shared apple item and then sat again for a considerable time before it came over (10-15 minutes). Overall- the food was great, but there needs to be work on the service. Not what I have come to expect from M&S.
No attempt to serve a cold martini -dumped into a small glass and not full. Terribly long wait for food. It was good but not memorable.
Food was very good, ambience was great. Bartender was able to make a skinny Margarita even though not on the menu. All in all, very good experience. Only issue was that the waiter took forever to bring our check!
All in all it was OK. We had a table on the second floor in the corner at the window overlooking Faneuil Hall which was outstanding. I would definitely recommend asking for a table in that area. Prices were reasonable for a steak house and service was good. I ordered a filet mignon medium and it came very well done. After bringing it to waitresses attention she took the price of the steak and more off the bill. They definitely did the right thing. And, even though the steak was over cooked it still had nice flavor.
im a landrys member... made the reservation with the intention of a special menu for landrys member's 3 course meal for 2 for 69 bucks......after waiting 25 minutes after our reservation and sitting down and getting our first drink. i asked the server for the special menu.. he told me the got bought out like a year ago...and there was no menu...but i could still get my points...i said what??? how is that possible...any way the hostess was a little rude...i think she was just overwhelmed... our server was awesome was on point with drinks and stuff...very loud ...lights where all messed up.. never again...wish i could have walked out..the prices where outrageous.. and the amount of food was not worth my 200.00... add this to my first time the last time.. and never recommended...
The restaurant was part of the Landry group, and still is according to their website, but apparently were bought by another entity recently. We had a gift card from Landry and initially were told it could be used but at time of payment the manager declined it. Not impressed by that customer service. Overall good was just ok. Nothing special with food or atmosphere.
Quality at a great location. Service was excellent!
Simply delicious. Thank you Michael for the great service. The upside down apple pie is one of the best desserts I've ever had. Fantastic experience.
Terrible lighting, spotlights shining in your eyes, dirty floors and rug, cold drafty bar area. Bad service... 30 min to get a drink, bread never came. Bad drinks .. made wrong and poorly, not the right glass. Server nowhere to be found, not attentive or knowledgeable about menu items. Poorly trained waitstaff and bartender. Food, when it came, wasnt too bad, was hot and orders were right. Not a good experience.... really struggling here.
Our dining experience by far was the worst we’ve ever experienced. We visited the Faneuil Hall location and were disappointed from the first moment we entered the restaurant. We were seated right away which was nice but that’s only because the establishment wasn’t busy. We were seated at a table in the middle of the restaurant that had spot lights directly in your eye. I had to change my seat with my husband because I was so extremely uncomfortable. Not only were the lights bright but the air conditioning wasn’t on either making it warm.
The waiter came fairly quickly to take our order. This was our Anniversary dinner and had brought our two well behaved children with us ( 9 and 12). They were starving and were excited for the bread to come. 45 minutes from when we first sat down, did I mention it. The waiter said they were cooking the bread. We never got the bread! Our dinner eventually came out. Usually plate presentation is one of the nicest parts at a fine dining experience - not here. The $50 steak meal was nothing to write about. The steak was cooked to my specs and okay. The mashed potatoes were dry and not tasty. The hamburger my son ordered was dry. My daughter said the filet was tasty.
The manager eventually came over to apologize but by then our experience was already ruined. She offered free deserts but none of us wanted it. We left after spending $245.00 on the meal.
We will never revisit a McCormick & Schmick’s again. There are so many other steak houses that do a much better job.
Cold food. Had to be changed but still no better. Exceptionally poor service.
Possibly the worst service I've ever received. Brought my wife for her birthday and sincerely regret it. The food was good but we had to hound the staff for service and they ignored us the whole time. Will never go back
I have dined at other McCormick & Schmick’s restaurants and have had a pleasant experience with good food. However, I don’t know if this location was experiencing a server shortage, but after checking in 10 minutes prior to my reservation with the hostess, was seated outside and reviewed the menu. Of the large outdoor seating area, only 4 tables were occupied and our server had yet to contact us for our drink or water order. I noticed some of the servers look our way, but made no effort to contact us to get our drink order or to inform us that someone would be with us shortly. We were hungry and In trying to give the servers the benefit of doubt, waited a few more minutes. I then noticed another couple walk into the patio without the hostess and sat themselves in a table next to ours. I had finally had enough when shortly after the couple sat down next to us, a female server came out of the restaurant, only to walk towards the couple that just sat down next to us, to take their order. My wife and I left and informed another server inside the restaurant to cancel our reservation. The server apologized but I informed him that it was unacceptable to have us sit for over 20 minutes with no server contact, only to take the order of the table next to us that had just walked in only minutes after sitting down. Very poor service..
Food was good as always but the facility’s condition is showing signs of neglect. Booth seats are ripped and ragged and tilting forward so had to fight sliding forward. Probably skip next time.
Food was excellent but the restaurant was extremely warm, to the point of making me ill, I don’t expect this of a restaurant of this caliber
Wonderful!!! We had a variety of dishes among the 5 of us. One steak, perfectly cooked, flavorful and tender, a seafood pasta dish, bouillabaisse and salmon stuffed with crab. Service and was excellent. What a wonderful surprise in the tourist section of town. We will be back!!
Great meal, great service. The restaurant made sure they could achieve our low sodium diet needs and the food was terrific! Will gladly return!
First time eating at a McCormick & Schmick’s. Initially, our order was incorrectly delivered, but the staff took quick action to make everything right. I was very impressed at the chef bringing out the corrected plate with sincere apologies, showing they didn’t meet their standards. It was a busy night and the food was great! We will continue to eat here when in town.
Not too many people and we waited a long time for our food. Also we wanted the fish tacos blackened not fried and the waitress commented that the fish might be already cooked and they might not be able to do honor our request, Which was interesting.
Also, 20 minutes before our reservation, I went to the hostess to inform her that we wanted an outside table. Had a Starbucks in hand, almost gone and she made a comment upon return not to bring the cup.
I used to eat at this place quite often 12 years ago and the love for this place is definitely non existent.
Such a shame since it was incredible back in the day.
Will not be returning.
Food was just OK, not as good as other M&S restaurants I've been to. Service was slow and unprofessional, server didn't seem to know what was on the menu. Interior of restaurant is run down and dingy, the seats in our booth had large holes in them, bathrooms were dirty, overall disappointing, no where near the usual M&S standards.
McCormick and Schmick's is not the same restaurant it was years ago. It was dingy, the bathrooms in disrepair, the service slow, and the overall experience disappointing. The food wasn't as bad as I was expecting based on the outward appearance of the space, but overpriced considering how sad the restaurant has become.
Save your money unless all you are interested in is location. It is located in a wonderfully lively and historic area, and outside table can at least benefit from it. To say the service was poor is laughably inadequate. I got the impression that he had never been trained in serving at a good restaurant. And there was clearly no supervision at all to care how he did or whether customers were happy. The two hostess spent much of their time chatting at the table of a lone dinner friend, taking and eating large forkfuls of food from their plate while standing at their table while guests entering stood looking around for someone to attend them. My scallops were overcooked, I literally could not eat the special mushroom dish I ordered as a side. They were rubbery and had an odd truly unpleasant flavor. My partners steak was flavorful, but at least a third of it was gristle and his sides utterly forgettable. This is a restaurant clearly looking backward to its better days and assumes its location and reputation will make up for shockingly poor service. Save your money and try the street food in the area. Both food and service will be better.
Booking for 1830. Arrived 1825. Table not set but hostess quickly produced cutlery menus and water. Server arrived but saw we had water and said she would be back for our order. After 20 mins we attracted another server who said she would put our drinks order in. After a total of 30 mins our original server brought our drinks and took our food order.
Chowder was ok. Fish main - shrimp and salmon was all over cooked and dry.
So for a quiet Saturday night (at least when we arrived) in a chain that aims for higher end clientele - very poor and we will pass on their other establishments. And to crown it all we later overheard they had run out of several fish !!
My suggestion is to go around the corner to the Bostonia Pub where the Cod and Lobster were excellent and cheaper with good beer!
Through the years I have thoroughly enjoyed McCormick & Schmick’s ambiance, quality of service, and quality of food. This location does not meet the McCormick & Schmick’s quality standard as a fine dinning restaurant that I have become accustomed to at their other locations.
I have been dining at this venue for the past 15 years. Based on other McCormick & Schmicks venues, this one has gone downhill badly. It no longer represents the level of ambiance, service or expectation that we have come to know and enjoy.
the food was good and the waitress was nice; however, the food was a little slow in arriving, especially, give the small crowd on a Saturday evening.
Service was terrible took very long time to get drinks. Salmon was dry and not even the dish that I ordered.
Mojito was terrible the mint wasn’t mulled just set in the glass and when our food came we didn’t have silverware and had to wait for that! Terrible experience
Lobster roll was disappointing. Roll was not fresh and the lobster meat wasn’t remarkable
Had friends visiting from Hawaii who couldn’t decide between seafood or steaks. The food was great and had plenty of choices. Great fun, the service was friendly ad fast.
For the price, the food was not the best. Our server was super friendly, however, the service was slow & it was not busy.
Service was extremely slow. Not sure if they were understaffed. Calamari over cooked and tasteless. Entrees were good so that saved the dining experience from being a complete waste. We’ve dined at this restaurant chain in different cities for decades. Sorry to see it declining in service and consistency. We tried it again a couple of nights later as one in our party wanted to dine in the Quincy Market area for his birthday. We hoped our first experience was just an off night. Sadly the service again was unreasonably slow and one entree wasn’t the one we ordered. My bourbon glazed salmon tasted off and was unappetizing. Disappointing.
Disappointing. I remember this chain as being higher caliber than what we experienced overall. Atmosphere felt tired, food was just ok and service was slow. Our waitress was very nice.
we have eaten here on and of at least 25 yrs and as a higher end chain it has had good service and well made food last nights experience pretty much Ed ended our return. First my first two choices of wine where unavailable and the waitress left us waiting 25 minutes to return to tell us . Next we placed our order of dinner and appetizers dinner came out and of the appetizers my wife’s salad was slathered with dressing which was ordered for on the side and my oysters had not been placed finely the waitress just ignored us until bill time
Warm day in Boston and the air conditioning could not keep up. Hostess was very disengaged and turning people away.
Food was ok. Got the clam & mussels linguine. Found out that the clams are not in the shell but chopped up (maybe quohog?). Somewhat disappointing. Also got the lobster Cobb stacked salad. Nice presentation but lobster portion was skimpy. Didn't even include claw meat. Both meals were flavorful.
Service was adequate. Had to ask for bread.
Major reason for dining here was that it was part of the Landry group even after seeing it listed on the Landry website. Found out that this M&S is no longer affiliated with the Landry group. The server did not offer any more information than that. After speaking with the manager we were offered a discount because of the change.
