The reason I have not checked anything off is: we made a reservation via Open Table; it was confirmed. We went to McCabes's and it was CLOSED. NOT HAPPY. We always enjoy McCabe's and most likely would have done so this time had it been open. An unhappy use of Open Table.

McCabe's is reliable, and in our neighborhood. The food was good, as it has been every time we gone for brunch. It's a small menu, but everything we've tried is done well. It used to have more of a cafe feel, but they've transitioned back into more of a pub atmosphere, which is what this spot originally was. It's definitely more casual, but the food is still good. They said they have stopped using open table, but for some reason the system is still operating. They honored the reservation anyway. The staff is nice, and we've always had positive experiences here.

I was really pleased with the service! There was water already waiting for us at the table when we arrived. The food would've been rated a 5, but the eggs on my eggs benedict were terribly overpoached (what's an eggs benedict without a runny yolk!?).

Loving the addition of the Tacos to the regular menu. Very tasty flavor combinations, and hearty portions. Cheddar with fish? I was dubious, but it's a great Taco.

Meh, First off, the coffee was awful. It was so weak you could almost taste the cut itself.

I made a reservation and arrived a couple of minutes early. The place was empty. He attempted to sit in the WORST spot in the place. right behind the front service station smack in front of the front door. I begged for a different spot. He finally seated us in the way back right next to the back junk table where they keep all the supplies. They then proceeded to seat a big table of people right next to us. They were very loud and we could not really talk. The rest of the place was pretty empty.

I first ordered a decaf Iced coffee. It came with mike already added. Really it was a glass of ,milk with a tiny bit of coffee. I can't handle that much milk, and the AC had switched on, so I was freezing. I asked for a hot cup of decaf. It was lukewarm and I had a hard time getting the 1/2&1/2 to add myself. sigh.

I ordered the Duck hash, which my friend said was really good. It was OK, the duck was stringy, the potatoes were ok, I don't think there was much or any rosemary on them. Both of us wanted eggs over "medium" fully cooked whites with tender yolks. The waiter seemed to convey that they did not do that level of specificity, so we both agreed to over hard. My companions eggs were reasonably "over hard" Mine were done to the point of crossing over into an actual plastic polymer. I literally needed a knife to saw through them.

Our waiter disappeared for a long time after delivering our food. We had to get up to ask for salt and pepper from the bar tender.

The toast was really good!

Menu is brief, but there wasn't a thing on it that didn't sound amazing. Ordered the brisket sandwich and it melted in my mouth. Beer choices are abundant and everything was great. It's not a huge place but perfect and not too loud to take a date or group. I will definitely be visiting again!

Awesome restaurant! The owner was so nice and chatted with us! I got the fish and chip which was so fresh and delicious and lightly fried, I try to avoid fried food but really wanted fish and was glad I got it! Also the have Newburyport plum island on tap which is my favorite summer time beer! Lots of other beers on tap! My boyfriend got the brisket sandwich and it was a great portion and delicious! Overall an awesome experience! Looking forward to going for brunch sometime soon!

We brunch here a lot. All dishes are tasty, plenteous and good value for money. Breakfast sandwich, brisket and cheesy scramble are always available and are really good. 'Benedict of the day' is always a good choice. Great coffee served in big cups.

We had a large party (16) at mccabes for a birthday brunch, and they were incredible. They had the tables set up early for any guests that arrived, and were incredibly accommodating taking drink orders as people arrived and helping with special requests.

Everyone loved their cocktails and brunch foods, and the atmosphere could not have been better for our group. Thanks so much for making this birthday a great one!

McCabe's was decent, but I would say not on par with similar establishments (i.e. mainly a bar with food) on Mass Ave in Porter Square area. We went early on a Saturday night before a comedy show in Davis Square. The bar was not very crowded. The food was decent, but not particularly memorable. The flour tortillas were too dried out and crunchy on the tacos and I would have prefered tacos with more fresh vegetables of some kind. Our server was excellent, but the busboy seemed a little less polished. I would rank McCabe's a notch below The Abbey, Temple Bar, and West Side Lounge.

I had the brisket sandwich and my wife had the bbq chicken flatbread. The brisket sandwich lacked meat and the meat I did get was extremely fatty. My wife's flatbread was just okay. Expected a whole lot more. For the money it was not worth it.

One of the best places in Cambridge or Somerville for Brunch. Food is varied, tasty and plentiful. Benedict of the day is always inventive. Good selection of beers with some turning over quite quickly - always something new to try. The food is a great value for the money.

Went for brunch. Place was almost empty at 11AM on a Saturday. Had the breakfast sandwich and the duck confit hash. The potatoes in the hash were a little under salted/seasoned but the duck was plenty salty (and maybe a little bland?). Sandwich was very good with a nice aioli. Service was attentive and friendly. Not a bad place for brunch and easy to get a table!

Honestly, we loved McCabe's the first few times we went there, but were disappointed on this visit. We had been raving about the fries - "best we've ever had" - but the last two times they've gotten progressively worse. They seemed overcooked and just not as good. My husband's burger was overcooked, and we could have sent it back, but we were hungry! Also, there were three of us, and the dishes all came out at different times, which is annoying if you aren't doing small plates. I won't stop going to McCabe's all together, but it certainly won't be on the top of my list anymore.

We came here for a quick dinner on a Friday night. The sharing plates were great, and large plate brisket was good. There was a Christmas party in the dining room which made for a very loud restaurant. We enjoyed the food, but not the noise. The service was top notch. I'd dine there again.

Read the menu while walking by and read the reviews before booking. The staff are sweet, the room is nice (although more high tops than I like since I'm short and don't like to perch). The hamburger with fries was below average, the fries burnt and undersalted. The chicken wings in sri racha were good but the pickled carrots that came with them had an odd flavor. I pickle my own carrots so I know what I'm talking about. We also tried the sugared bacon but it was terrible. I also make my own candied bacon so that, again, is something I know. Slices were too thin, limp, and oily. I wouldn't bother trying the more exotic dishes (the smoked duck or the risotto) because if they can't make a good hamburger what are the odds?

Loved the food ... Loved the server ... Loved the location ... This was our first meal using opentable in Boston since our move from NYC ...we cannot recommend this place highly enough ... The vibe of low key gastropub with a lot of class was exactly what I was looking for ... I would say 25 and up would love this place. Come hungry and order from the specials!

McCabe's is a great place to dine and hang out. The only problem is that several of the dining room chairs are too high and not comfortable. I would get rid of the high chairs and create more sectional seating to accommodate people with disabilities. Most of the low tables fill up quickly. The food is delightful -- get anything with duck -- for brunch, they make their own jelly and we just ate it with our fingers -- that's how good it is. Because it a small and popular place, make your reservation, come and enjoy.

We had a very nice meal with our 6 and 9 year old boys. The place was empty at the kiddie eating time - 5:45 to 6 - and we got a very nice window table where we did not disturb anyone. We had a couple of flatbreads, the daily special of duck breast with spatzle, scallops, bacon, and drinks. They have a fantastic list of beers on draft as well as ciders. It was all good and we left very happy.

First time here; lovely for brunch...enjoyed the breakfast sandwich on brioche - decadently buttery, eggy and bacon -y...really good. The roast potatoes alongside were equally delicious, with plenty of seasoning, including fresh rosemary (I think)...the breakfast sandwich truly elevated! Modern wood decor with bright green accents - hip but not hipster. (That's a good thing.) Friendly staff. Interested now in trying the dinner menu! Good neighborhood spot...

Overall this is a great place to grab a bite and a drink. I wouldn't bring your kids here as they do not have a kids menu, and not a whole lot of kid friendly options (although they have high chairs?!?). Although they did whip up grilled cheese sandwiches for them which was great. The big issue we had with the place is how they handle food orders. Food comes out when it is ready and in the order it was put in (by table). We ordered strawberry shortcake for dessert, and at the time we ordered the place had gotten busy (there was a larger party doing a fantasy football draft). Strawberry shortcake should literally take a minute to toss together. We waited close to 30 minutes for it, because of their food prep system. So if it's busy and you are thinking of ordering dessert, just skip it. By the time you get it, you will have wanted to cancel the order anyway.

We enjoy the ambiance, generally friendly and efficient service, and reliably good food. However, after four visits or so in the past year, we have begun to find the menu limited. We'd like to see some new choices of entrees and small plates. Desserts are also limited. But the food available is very good.

I'll just start by saying we had dinner at the bar. It's sorta our thing now, and man, did we find a great bar with excellent staff or what!?! We started with a charcuterie, which was delicious. Move on to a small plate (scallops) with great flavored aioli. Then for dinner-- get this-- we had a chocolate chocolate chip cookie with Christina's ice cream...hehe We ended up mostly full from the two starter dishes that we didn't want to order a full dinner.
The bartenders were fantastic. Made me a mocktail (because I don't drink), even though they don't have them on the menu.
The atmosphere is a bit loud with the overall music being a little too loud and the acoustics being a bit rough.
All and all- this place was a great find and we look forward to visiting again.
