Each of our gruop of 9 (they squeezed one more into our reservation for 8 - no problem) LOVED the food, the place, the waitress. A wonderful day our for our monthly lunch group.
The night (Monday) started with a long wait for our appetizer...apparently, the kitchen was not prepared for the first night of "Spring Break" diners. The waitperson was flustered by the situation, but recovered...manager comp-ed the appetizer. Entrees were very good...crawfish platter was a nice size of fried tails, etoufee and dirty rice. The setting is very attractive, a restored post office.
Great ambience and quicker service than I expected. Will absolutely plan on coming back as soon as possible.
Luv this restaurant. Could spend every Sat afternoon with you.
Brought my best friend here to share its charm- meals were exceptional and our waitress Heather was even more so. Wonderful experience-as usual
We live in NB and frequent McAdoos, it was hit or miss for a while, but the last two times we have gone the food was outstanding! I had oysters on the half shell, VERY GOOD, and also had their boiled crawfish, hands down BEST crawfish I had ever had and they are made to order so alive shortly after they arrive at your table. My only complaint is certain menu items are priced way too high such as their king crab legs 1 pound for close to $50 I think that’s a bit ridiculous but the crawfish was $10 a pound and the oysters are reasonable my recommendation is to go during their lunch hour. Otherwise service was great and the food was fantastic !
Enjoyable evening. Have been here many times and the food and service is very good. Menu has something for everyone and it is difficult to determine what to get. Looking forward to our next visit.
We spent lunch with friends at MaAdoos and had a very enjoyable experience. The food was good and the service was excellent.
Ordered crawfish & paid a high price for them, but they were all large sized & well seasoned & cooked. I like how they plate the crawfish with a stainless steal cover to keep them hot. House margaritas were well made too.
Whenever we're near New Braunfels it's hard not to try and eat at Mc Adoos. The food and service are always great. The atmosphere is very relaxing and nicely done.
Academy Award girl’s brunch
Excellent food and service in the quant downtown New Braunfels hot spot, the historic building has a museum feel with various piece of federal and old New Braunfels.
Food was good, except the spinach. It was too salty. The bread was fresh, still warm. The service was outstanding.
We have always enjoyed the food at McAdoo's. The service is usually just as good. That's why we were extremely disappointed with our last visit. We were in New Braunsfels celebrating our son-in-law's birthday. We wanted to give him a special birthday dinner and we thought of McAdoo's. We had plans for after dinner, which we made the waiter aware of right away. It took over 20 minutes to receive our raw oysters order and then another 30 minutes to get our meal. I was very embarrassed when everyone at the table received their food except for him. The service was so bad that the manager agreed to comp our entire check. That was certainly nice however, my son-in-law, who the dinner was in honor of, never got to eat. I really hope this was an isolated incident!
As always our food was excellent and the service was outstanding. Every time we make it to San Antonio we have at least one dinner at McAdoo’s. You’ll certainly enjoy!
Great options on the menu. I definitely recommend the Parmesan crusted trout, coconut shrimp and bread pudding. The margaritas were good too! I will visit McAdoo’s again when I’m in town.
Seated promptly. Good waiter. Nice variety of food choices. My salmon was fabulous. Easy to choose wine list. High quality reasonable pricing. Beautiful historic interior . Parking bit of challenge.
We loved the food, service and atmosphere. The buffalo oysters and mahi were amazing!
Just the kind of great first impression that will have me returning over & over - thank you!
We went here for Valentine’s Day. It was overpriced for the food, which was just ok. The waitress wasn’t sure what the special was and couldn’t recommend wine. The atmosphere is nice, but not nice enough that I care to return.
Great service and freshest seafood! Happy hour drinks were also Super!
We had an 8:15 reservation. Got there early and checked in at 7:45. Were told that they would put us at the top of the list. We met another couple in the bar who said they had 7:30 reservations and hadn’t been seated yet. At 8:30, the other couple was seated and invited us to join them at their table because they had room. We were on a date and wanted to be alone but agreed to sit with them as to not be rude and also because we had no idea when we would be seated based on them being seated an hour later than their reservation. We know it was Fat Tuesday but still expected a restaurant who takes reservations to be able to stay on schedule and seat parties who had the forethought to make a reservation versus allowing every walk-in party to get on the list. We go to McAdoo’s quite a bit and this was the first time being disappointed. The food was amazing as always.
Everything was great. We decided to go out the day before Valentine’s Day to miss the crowds and completely forgot it was fat Tuesday! We had to wait next for 20 or so minutes past our reservation time to be seated, but it was understandable. There was quite a crowd. The bar staff seemed a bit overwhelmed and took a long time to get a drink while waiting, probably 15 or so minutes. This is certainly not the typical night I’m sure. When we did get seated our server was amazing food came out quickly and as ordered. All the seafood dishes were on point. If you’re stickler for authenticCajun food, this might not be your place, ( Red beans and rice and gumbo werent bad but they were nothing to write home about either.) but if you want great seafood, and delicious comfort food you will love it.
Great place in New Braunfels to celebrate Mardi Gras!!! We were also celebrating my husband’s 66 birthday.
Good seafood selection, oysters are fresh and tasty.
To dark cant hardly see your food or menu. Need tsome brighter ligjt bulbs or lighting on each table. Sevice is great. The food is normally excellent. I tried something new and it wasn’t what I expected
Food was awesome. Service a little slow. Sat outside and enjoyed the Texas Sun! Bloody Mary Bar was awesome!
I madecreservation. I dont like getting placed in the corner stuck next to someone i dont know. But itcwaa a get-together With Friends so didn't want to complain of that points.... but then I ordered blackened salmon got my plate and it was grilled salmon send it back got the same exact grilled salmon back. My best experience at Macado's
We loved Leslie! She was great!
I had been to McAdoo’s one time before and loved the food and the uniqueness of the decor. For that reason I picked it for our first anniversary celebration. The food was still good but the service really suffered. My hisband’s food was not hot and nothing was even mentioned about it being our anniversary even though I put it on the reservation and we heard someone mention it to a table beside us. The topper was when the waiter spilled a half full drink on my daughter and didn’t even get her another one or in any way apologize. When you’re paying a premium for a specialty drink, something should have been compensated for it.
I will go back probably because I do like the food and the ambiance but I hope the service is better next time.
Great seafood in downtown New Braunfels. Amazing place to celebrate family birthdays
McAdoo’s continues to serve reliable, well prepared seafood mostly for the locals in New Braunfels weary of the recent invasion of chain fare on I-35. Clever atmosphere inside original New Braunfels post office. Recent visit was fine except for incinerated garlic bread that accompanied the seafood fondue. Once pointed out and quickly replaced, all was well!
30-Sec Review: While McAdoo's is classy on all levels, the long wait for food can turn a into a 2 hour dinner. Food is great, drinks are great, oysters are great. Service is better than most, the wait is the only reason I'd consider elsewhere.
Oysters - All were delicious. Literally, we had 4 varieties. No complaints.
Seabass - Tender, moist, superb. Rice was slightly sweet but no issue at all. Overall, yum.
Halibut - No complaints from my tablemates. Flash fried spinach is bomb!
Parmesan Trout - Well cooked, crispy and not dry. Good flavor, lemon dijon sauce was not overly caper-flavored, which I appreciated. Flash fried spinach!!
Mahi-mahi New Orleans - Deliciously grilled, this embodied a yum creole flavor.
As I said, the food was great. But we did wait nearly 1 hour for entrees for our table of 8. It was a big table but certainly 1 hour on a Sunday night was much.
We enjoyed our dinner with friends! Food was delicious and our waitress was helpful and attentive. We will be back!
Dinner was great, a little disappointed they didn’t recognize our anniversary since it was identified on the reservation...
Very disappointed with the quality of the food. Got order wrong and wait time was excessive. They comp’d my wife’s dinner but could not deliver in time.
Family dinner! Mixed bed of appetites and there was something for everyone. Jordan our server did a great job highly recommend for a top notch food night in a relaxed atmosphere
Excellent brunch with an extraordinary make your own Bloody Mary bar. Top notch food and service.
