Upscale Family Dining serving fresh seafood with a Cajun influence located in the historic post office building in the heart of Downtown New Braunfels.
Shrimp & Oysters
Blackened filet topped with sauteed shrimp, and crab meat in a brown butter wine sauce. Served with dirty rice.
Excellent as always, particularly the appetizers. One day I may just come and order nothing but appetizers, but then I'd miss out on the entrees. Terrible choices to have to make, I know.
Dinner was excellent ,I ordered the chillean Seabass and my wife had the seafood stuffed Flounder. Both meals were prepared perfectly ,We enjoyed bottle of wine with the meal(we were celebrating our 37 year wedding anniversary. ) Our waiter Teddy was very attentive to our needs, and we thouroughly enjoyed our meal. We will definately return to Mcadoos again
Wonderful place for a night out! Relaxed but upscale. Simple menu of culinary delights. Favorite.
Food and service are always outstanding. Great place for date night or family gathering.
Mother’s Day dining with my son. Had crab cakes, salmon and flash fried Brussels sprouts. All were delicious.
We were coming for a Birthday Luncheon, it was mentioned when reservation was made and also mentioned to hostess when we checked in.
The restaurant was overly warm and had flies, mentioned it to the waiter, who was also sweating, nothing was done no excuse or remedy was offered.
After lunch was over there was no inquiry as to desert, just presented a bill then waiter vanished for 10 minutes, returned and then vanished another 10 minutes.
Food was delicious, wonderful ambiance, but service was greatly lacking from hostess to waiter to overly warm dining room.
Had a reservation, and still had to wait 30 minutes.
LOVE dining on the patio and had a great mothers day!
Delicious Bloody Mary's and good selection of raw oysters.
We had a wonderful Mother's Day brunch. The food was wonderful, the service was outstanding, and the atmosphere was perfect.
A great place to visit....however the food this time had a few issues. It was Mothers day so quite busy, but expected a bit more. The grilled oysters weren't cleaned properly and had loose shell under the melted cheese. I ordered the Mahi Mahi grilled and it was really charred on one side and over cooked.....the white wine butter sauce broke as well.
Mom & Dad both ordered dishes with the grits and they were better than Exceptional.
They also mentioned their shrimp was great and cooked perfectly. Our waitress was great too, all around service was great and table was waiting for us when we arrived.
Went here for the first time on Mother's Day for their brunch. LOVED the patio, it's decorated beautifully. We all really enjoyed our meals. Would definitely go back for dinner.
We have visited before but not with a large group. Made reservations for Mother’s Day and was seated right away. Food was spot on as usual and Lexie our server was great. Another wonderful experience!!
The food here was absolutely delicious. We also loved the atmosphere.
The food was, as always, outstanding but the service was awful. We waited almost 20 minutes for water after being seating and then another hour for our entree. It was so disappointing; the server was new (he told us he only worked 4 shifts before serving us) and there was No one overseeing his performance. He was very nice but not trained or capable of serving for a restaurant of this level. It was so disappointing as we typically love macadoos and it was a special occasion. Very disappointing to say the least.
Everything was absolutely excellent. Top notch service. So glad to have this gem close to home!
McAdoos was good food, well prepared, as always. The only downside, and it was a BIG downside, was that the noise level was so very high that none of us in our party could hear any of the others speaking. Our fellowship was lost entirely, and none of us could wait to get out of there! Our server was efficient and attentive. Honestly, we might have stayed for dessert and after dinner drinks had the atmosphere been even tolerable. Without some linens, table pads and/or area rugs to dampen the sound, I can’t see going back soon to pay for an ambience that miserable. I hope the owners will consider ways to make this wonderful building a more pleasurable place to dine.
Food and service was very good. Atmosphere a bit noisy but it was crowded.
Always a pleasure and a great meal at Mcadoo's, we go there often to simply enjoy their menu and the peacefulness of New Braunfels.
Extremely poor service. No refills, ever. Did not bring wine ordered. Food luke warm with skin on sauces.
Seafood fondue was excellent. Frozen margarita was good as well. I always enjoy the fried chicken salad. It is big enough for two. I recommend you make reservations when possible.
Macadoos has become one of my favorite lunch spots. Great food and service.
Sierra did a great job taking care of us although having quite a few tables. Pleasant and friendly!
With reservations I expect a table to be "reserved" for us. It was my husband's birthday and we had a table for 2 reserved. Yet we waited 15 minutes at crowded and busy hostess stand after being told they were working on getting a table ready. The food was extremely salty - the shrimp brochette, brussell sprouts, and the side of red beans - nearly inedible. My husband ate part of his shrimp & a few bites of the brussell sprouts. After the first bite of red beans I did not eat them at all. The crab cakes appetizer was good though. The server was prompt and attentive and friendly. Overall we did not enjoy the experience and will opt for somewhere else next time we go out for a special occasion.
We moved to the Canyon Lake are right before everything shut down last year. We heard nothing but great things about McAdoos. Finally dined for brunch. It was AMAZING!! One of the best meals I’ve had in years! It’s my new favorite restaurant!!
We met some friends at McAdoo's for an early dinner this past Saturday. Food was GREAT and service was too! The Mahi Mahi was excellently prepared and the Key Lime Pie was AWESOME! We had not been there in over a year and we're very glad the atmosphere, the food and the service was just as good, if not better, than the last time we were at McAdoo's! Thanks...
Great food and drinks! Our waitress was super cool and helpful. Will be returning soon
A great meal anytime.
I got the balsamic salmon and it was very good!! I would highly recommend. I would also recommend sitting outside. They have a great patio.
We had dinner at McAdoo’s because it was my wife’s birthday and they did not let us down. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic.
Great food and atmosphere. Will definitely go back
Very popular restaurant. We visited for dinner on a Tuesday and every table was full. Delicious food. Great for celebration, garher with friends or family dinner.
Excellent food as always. Everything here is always outstanding. The only glitch on this trip was that the water container they put on the table was covered with water spots. I hesitated to call it to the waiters attention because I had two people with me who had never been there before and I was hoping they wouldn’t notice. Also after we were finished eating I felt like the waiter seemed to want us to leave. We were deep in conversation and we got the impression that it was time to go.
Kinda loud - on the patio! Service was terrific and food was wonderful.
Very cute patio, very peaceful. Was there with a friend for brunch. They only serve it on Sunday’s so this time we just did lunch. Our server was Sam and she was perfectly attentive and quick to suggest wine and food recommendations. Lovely experience, good food. Will be back.
Overall, the meal was good as expected, except for the seafood salad, which had a pile of tasteless crab meat in the middle. Good crab has a subtle sweet taste, but the crab in this salad was absolutely flavorless.
The Chilean Bass was worth every penny. So glad I made reservations. The fact that the restaurant was an old post office was a plus. Loved the architecture of this building. My husband had the redfish and his words were “This is the bomb”. The entire meal was wonderful.
Enjoyed celebrating my husband’s birthday with a nice, leisurely dinner. The service was outstanding and the food is usual delicious. The only drawback was the excessive loudness of the main dining room. Despite that, we’ll continue returning.
Food was very good, noise level was a bit loud but able to converse
