Wish I could give a 4.90 instead of just a 4...shawarma was a touch dry, but OMG everything else was amazing. Make a reservation!
Excellent tasty meals in a comfortable relaxing atmosphere. The service is always friendly and attentive.
Mazza is always a dinner destination when we visit Salt Lake City.
Love Mazza!!!
Fantastic Lebanese food, wonderful service with a formal but not uncomfortable vibe...formal enough that I felt I was doing something special for my birthday. No hidden ingredients or cross contamination, so it’s easy to avoid gluten or dairy or any other dietary restrictions. 5 1/2 Stars out of five!
Always a pleasure to dine at Mazza. Good variety on the menu, good service, attractive restaurant.
The food was good, nothing special, but pretty tasty. But the waitress was terrific! She got to know my likes and dislikes before making recommendations on both the cocktail and dinner menus, and was spot on with her suggestions. She was friendly and attentive to the table without being pushy. I would go back for the service!
We loved every second and every bite of our experience. We went for lunch and, guided by the outstanding Eric, had a delicious, perfect meal. The balance of dishes, quantity of food, pacing of service, warm and friendly manner, to say nothing of the perfect flavors and Eric’s overall expertise, contributed to a meal we’ll look forward to repeating! Thank you!!
The only issue we had was their lack of hummus.
On a Friday night, this would normally be a staple for appetizers, and they declared at 5:30pm they were out of hummus.
Very strange.
Great GF options, beautiful ambiance, attentive service from Bianca, Lebanese favorites with Ali's silky hummus, extensive menu that will please a group, interesting cocktails-what's not to love?
Nice restaurant decor. Food was good! Meat was a bit dry, I’ll order the beef kabob medium next time.
Food was delicious-tried some new dishes. Waitress was new and a little slow, but another waitress stepped in to be sure we received good service. Lots of lamb on the menu, which I don’t care for, but my friend loves. She had lamb kabob-she liked it a lot. I had the red lentil soup, pretty good. Hummus and pita delicious. Kibbeh was good. Next time I will try a shawarma.
very very nice!
Mazza is great - one of our go-to places for all occasions.
I made a reservation for 7 people on a Tuesday at 12:15. As we were on our way I called the restaurant to let them know we would be a few minutes late due to traffic. It took three tries before they answered, and then they said they could only hold our table for 15 minutes. I told them I understood and that we would be there in 5 minutes.
5 minutes later when we arrived at 12:25 they had already given our table away to another group and we had to wait ten minutes for them to very slowly put together a table for us. (And I do mean slowly. Many people were just standing around chatting as we waited for a table.) If the food was not delicious we would not have waited as we were on a schedule. If I had not called and confirmed they were holding the table until 12:30 I would not have been upset. The food and wait service was top notch as always but I am hesitant to ever try and make reservations there again. I will probably stick to their other location if they are going to give away a guaranteed 7 top so frivolously.
Food was average, not a lot of flavor compared to other Lebanese restaurants. Service was terrible.
There were great choices for everyone, including meat eaters and vegans! All the food was delicious. Great sharing options to start.
I was a bit disappointed on my initial visit to Mazza. This time we were accompanied by my Syrian friend who knows Middle Eastern cooking. She guided our menu choices, and the food was very good. The fried Kibbeh was tasty. However, I have eaten in great Middle Eastern restaurants around the world, and thus all I can say is that Mazza is very good for Salt Lake City.
'Always one of my favorite places! I was meeting with an international group, and everyone found something they raved about. You really can't go wrong!
I love this place because the food and cocktails are so delicious. I was surprised that they would not automatically do separate checks when asked, saying that they couldn't do that for groups of 6 or more. After we each listed what we had so we could use different debit cards, they did separate checks after all. It would have saved us 10 minutes (while on the way to a play) for them to do that in the first place, as it is pretty much given service at restaurants of this level these days.
I've been many times to Mazza and it never disappoints. Wonderful menu; delicious food.
We always enjoy our experience at this restaurant and eat there often.
We were there for lunch and felt the food was at most average. Service was a little slow but have to consider it was lunch on Valentine's Day. I will probably give it another chance and return for dinner. They do not serve their specialties at lunch and some of the choices looked interesting.
Excellent food and service
Delicious food, great service, beautiful building. It was a bit dark and loud, and we were disappointed they only have a cream kunafeh.
Enjoyed the setting, and the food was great. Fast and friendly service.
The small plate sampler was fun and delicious for the two of us. The lamb shank and lamb with spinach were tasty. The pita was warm and fresh. We had a wonderful evening date.
Great food, excellent service! I crave this restaurant.
We had a rather bizarre experience. The hostess would not seat us with 4 of 6 present, even though we knew traffic was delaying those missing. We certainly would have ordered drinks while waiting had we been seated. When we were finally seated our server brought a single drink menu, making it cumbersome for 6 people to read and order drinks. Our server was also the bartender, so drink preparation was also delayed. The meal was fine, and we were not rushed. The server then brought a single desert menu for the 6 of us to view, so when she came back to check if we wanted anything, none of us had seen the menu nor were inclined to order. Just seems that a little more thought would facilitate a welcome feeling to customers and could encourage ordering of drinks and deserts.
Very good not great. Would go there again. Very good cocktails.
Absolutely delicious and authentic Lebanese cuisine. We had the shawarma (with lamb) and the beef kebab as well as a triple appetizer with hummus, baba ghanoush, and kibbeh, followed up with the apricot pastry dessert garnished with orange blossom sauce. Everything was outstanding; possibly the best hummus and baba ghanoush I've ever had. The shawarma was a sensory delight and the kebab was cooked to perfection; a real treat for the palate. Our waiter was attentive and the food arrived quickly. I can't praise the cooks, staff and owners of Mazza enough. My wife and I have been enthusiastically recommending it to our friends and family. My only criticism is that there isn't one closer to us. We live an hour away.
The restaurant has very good Mediterranean food and an upscale atmosphere, but you do not have to be formally dressed. Although it has the same ownership as their 15th and 15th restaurant, the atmosphere is very different. 9th and 9th is a nice dinner place rather than a casual lunch place. You can get nice wines and such there and even though it is usually fairly crowded, you can still have a conversation at dinner. It has enough space to also accommodate larger groups.
One my favorite restaurants in Salt Lake. The food is always 5 Star. Great wine list. Staff is exceptional.
My wife and I are big fans of Mazza but were less than impressed this last visit when we were sat next to the hostess station and heard the hostess and her coworker discussing and ridiculing patrons. While the cuisine and setting are great, I don't know that we will be back or recommending Mazza anymore.
Pet peeve when the server rushes out the courses. Let the patron finish the appetizer before the soup is brought out and let the diner finish the soup before the entree is presented. I don't know in what universe that's acceptable to rush out the courses.
We went to Mazza for a business lunch and everyone in our group really enjoyed the food. For most it was their first time there and they were really impressed.
It was lovely food. The patio is really loud along 9th and 9th. Next time we'll eat inside :)
Great part of the SLC food scene. Love the variety and the fact you don't just find mid-east cuisine everywhere. Definitely should try.
Very authentic and flavorful!!!
My husband and I had a lovely Friday evening meal at Mazza. We choose four of the small plates to share and each one was very tasty - we did not leave a crumb on our plates! We chose two of the rose water cookies for dessert and they were very unique and good. Our server (Lizzy?) was so great. Extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful at every step of our meal - she made the whole experience extra special. We will definitely be back. We would also highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic meal in extra special, cozy surroundings.
The appetizers were great but the main courses were a little light on flavor. We were a little annoyed when we asked to be seated at a table outside of the kitchen traffic (the place was almost empty) and were told that they seated in "rotation". We prevailed but couldn't see why the restaurant couldn't deal with rotation on their own. It was also annoying that we could only get a 5PM reservation on the internet. When I phoned they said if we got there at 6 there wouldn't be a problem. If that were the case, why not give me a reservation? I find it insulting that restaurants think that their time is more important than my time.
