Mayo wine is amazing! We went to the tasting room for wine tasting, and because we loved that so much we later went to the reserve room for food pairing. The chef is excellent, very creative in his menu items, and explained his thought process in the pairing with wines. We absolutely loved it!

There are many upscale food and wine pairings in Sonoma County. We've tried most of them. The 7-course experience in Mayo Reserve Room is the best value. The wines are excellent and both complement and are complemented by the creative team led by chef John. My tip? Schedule your tasting mid-day and let it serve as a very fine luncheon in addition to an opportunity to taste 7 excellent wines.

Great creative place for lunch! Serve plenty of great Mayo wines along with a 7course tasting menu. Dined here for lunch for the last 11 years. These guys were doing food to pair with their wines long before the other winery establishments. (Notice I say food to pair with the wine - not the opposite). We will return !!!

I liked the pairing, they did a good job for the value, 7 wine tastings each with a little something and gluten friendly for one of our party. I didn’t necessarily care for the executive chef’s sense of humor which I think dampened the experience overall.

This place is awesome. For $50, you are served seven different course tastings plus a wine that brings the dish to its height of deliciousness. I cannot rave enough about our experience. You need two hours to enjoy all of it. Chef John was gracious, knowledgeable about food and wine, and just overall delightful. We will come back every time we’re in Sonoma/Kenwood.

Seven mini-courses of food were paired with seven different wines while we sat at a set comfortable table. The friendly chef served and described each wine and food dish. We have been wine club members for years and have never had a bad wine at this family winery. We love tasing wines paired with foods that show them off. A wonderful experience!

This is a wine pairing event and they were under staffed. The chef tried to prepare and serve food as well as explain the paired wines, we sat and waited way too long. The food was cold and marginal at best. The lam was way over cooked and could not even be cut

After several weeks eating my way through France, I wondered how Californian wine-country cuisine would measure up. Mayo’s wine pairing lunch reminded me that the variety of flavors here can compete with anywhere in the world. I will definitely return.

At the Mayo Family Reserve we opted for the food and wine pairing to kick off our wine country trip. Everything about the food to the wine and of course Chef John was exceptional! The atmosphere was welcoming and fun for our family of 7, including our newborn, and we were able to enjoy our tasting to the fullest. Our experience here set the bar very high for Sonoma and definitely will be returning when we come back in the future! We would all highly recommend this delightful experience!

Very personal food and wine pairing. The chef comes to talk you through the wines and flavor profiles as well as what foods would pair nicely with it. Also discussion about thinking outside of the box for pairings. Food and wine were both outstanding and a lovely experience overall. I also felt it was a great value for what you got!

This is one of the best ways in Wine Country to learn about pairing wine with food AND it's a tremendous value. 7 wines, seven small plates of food for a price not much more than many wineries charge for a four glass tasting. John the chef was friendly and informative as the food was served with the wine. And the food is incredible! (So is the wine). This isn't just cheese and crackers, this is Asian ribs, Shrimp and Grits, Sobu noodles and more. Every time I bring new people here it blows them away.

This was our last event on our trip to Sonoma. What a way to end our trip! John, the executive chef was very friendly and involved in explaining all the pairings. We loved the food and the wine and it is amazing how each of the wines enhanced each of the food pairings. Our compliments and appreciation for the wonderful experience!

Wow! We were totally blown away by everything. Chef John was so great and his food was fabulous. Many of us are foodies, and this is among the top meals we have ever eaten. The octopus was amazing - so soft and not at all chewy. In addition, he was able to accomodate one person dairy-free, one person vegetarian, and one person gluten free (out of 6). Everyone loved the meal and the service was second to none - it felt like John and his assistant were there just for us.
The portions are small (there are 7 ‘courses’), so I didn’t feel gross afterwards, just satisfied. Often with these delicious meals there is a tendency to over-eat (we have all done it).
The wines were also delicious, with some varietals that we had not tasted before. They are a very small producer and don’t sell their wines retail, so you can only get their wines through the Reserve Room or their Tasting Room.
Thank you John for a fantastic experience. We will be back.

We had an amazing time at Mayo Reserve Room. John was so friendly and attentive. We learned a lot about the wines and why they were paired up with each bite. John provided just the right amount of information, not overwhelming in any way. All in all, the service, food and wine were TOP NOTCH.
We will definitely be back on our next trip out to CA!

4 of us went for a tasting. Overall it was good but a couple of things that were disturbing. The main thing the dessert which was a soufflé was served after it had fallen and was lukewarm😩 If it is not served right out of the oven it is ruined. Also a small but annoying thing was the pits were still in the cherries in the salad. The pairings are spot on although I was not in love with the wines for the price point

Food portions great for a light lunch and pretty tasty but mostly overpowered the wine, which is unusual for a pairing. That said, 7 for 7, wine wasn’t notable. We used the spit pot more than usual. (For us). Service a bit over the top for an intimate space. Sell-sell-sell feels like the mission here.
