poor service. Food that was paired not brought together. Service was slow.
Always superb service and food. Local produce and protein. Best Pommes Frites this side of Quebec. Oysters plump and fresh.
Our server must have been new or not good. We asked for the soup and catch of the day -he didn’t know. When he told us we asked for the price, he didn’t know, but came back with the info. He never asked for our party for a drink order. A Bloody Mary was ordered but after asking twice it never arrived. After the 3rd reminder, when lunch was finished he really didn’t apologize but he said he wouldn’t charge us for it. It was Birthday but he didn’t acknowledge it. The hostess brought the Open Table complimentary BD desert. He was helpful with peanut allergy especially as they use peanut oil for their fries. Beautiful place, but had to wait 15 minutes for a table even with a reservation. I’ll try it one more time, as I liked their food /soup very much, good price, great garden outside the window seats. Maybe it was just a nervous and poorly prepared waiter.
Went for brunch on Sunday and was very pleased with the entire experience,
Late Valentine’s Day
Great ambiance being at the old rail station next to the tracks watching the trains go by.
A new and delicious find. What a beautiful restaurant. The ambiance is so romantic and warm. The staff helpful and attentive. The food was amazing! We started with the Prince Edward Island Mussels which were outstanding! Loved the broth, it was so flavorful. The Bistro Salad was so fresh and delicious. We had the Whole Grilled Trout which was extremely fresh and savory, I can still taste it today! The Beer-Brined Chicken was extremely tender, juicy and tasty. Didn't get to dessert, which also looked outstanding but to full from the wonderful meal. Looking forward to our next visit!
Server was on point, although a lil stuck up .... this was very subtle, and I normally do not care about such things but this review thing asked... I didn't feel like I belonged according to the feeling I got from him
Probably thought I didn't belong in a restaurant like this...
But his service and professionalism, again was perfect. (just something about his look and mannerisms that just didn't make me feel .... 'welcomed' I guess)
Food was amazing, had the the seafood dish.. (the soup thing) and the foie gras was amazing as always. Their steak was cooked perfectly (rare) and again the service was on point.
The food is so amazing. A great go-to place if you're trying to impress the significant other!
Delicious dinner and wonderful service.
A little pricey for us old folks, but the food at Maynards is always exceptional.
Everything was great, we had a lovely time. The only complaint is that we had to ask for a refill of our tables (there were only 2 of us) water pitcher 5 times before it was refilled even though it wasn’t very busy. All in all would highly recommend!
I took my wife out for date night and this place had a wonderful ambiance. The menu is selective and a little too fancy for our tastes. We opted for drinks and an appetizer. The chef's board was very good and not terribly expensive. The drinks were really good and overall we were pleased. This place is expensive and busy. The food really wasn't our type which is why we didn't opt to order dinner. Our server seemed a little annoyed by that because we had reservations. If you are willing to pay $30+/entree and $10 a cocktail, this place is one for you. We opted to eat dinner at another place in town instead but this is good for people who like fancy food, just not for us.
The staff and kitchen were very nice altering one dish with too much cream than I expected.
The hostess/greeter was wearing a hillbilly plaid workshirt more appropriate to a logging camp. The Bouliabaise contained undecooked vegetables, ovecooked shrimp, no phinal or saffron flavoring. The steak was tough and overdone. The dessert was some breaded concoction which tasted of freezerburn. Otherwise, our anniversary dinner at your so-called restaurant was terrific.
Maynards has adapted what used to be an old train station into a restaurant and market, and the space is really outstanding, with a large outside patio for dining (under heat lamps in winter). Freight trains passed several times, adding to the funky ambience.
The interior is dimly lit in a good way, with a cool bar and lots of banquets and booths. Easy to chat without feeling your neighbors are too close. The food was really good, especially the salads and appetizers and they served outstanding bread. My only disappointment, having ordered steak frites, was that the meat, though flavorful, was quite tough. But that's always a risk with steak. The fries were excellent.
The meal was great until coffee and desert. They got busy, sent cold coffee, didn’t bring coffee to others. Also didn’t bring a drink to one. Disappointing ending to a great occasion
Excellent food & service
Not easy to get to and parking has become more of a challenge, but good food and service make it well worth while.
Every aspect of our dinner was very good, but not the best in Tucson.
Never been disappointed, always great service and great food. Great window seats, you can see the trains go by. We will be back again and again.
This was our third time to dine here and as always, we were very impressed. Everything was delicious and well priced! We will visit every time we come to Tucson from Phoenix!
Unhappy with open table. Initially I tried for 6:30 not available. I took 7pm. When I got to Maynard’s they said it was 8 pm. They were kind enough to find us a table. I now see that u list time as 6:30. I am feeling I don’t trust open table to reserve the right time. I must admit this is the first time I have had this problem . Unfortunately it was a special occasion so it was uncomfortable with guests along!
We dined last Friday evening to celebrate our marriage and were greeted by a very friendly champagne toast--that's awesome customer service and attention to detail!
Service was a little slow, but company was great so that was mostly forgiven. Meals took a very long time to come out (about 45 minutes to an hour), and management apologized with dessert on the house...again, we appreciated the effort there!
My meal (pork chop) was DELICIOUS and I had no complaints at all. My husband and guest's steaks were very tough and not very flavorful, which for the price, was pretty disappointing.
Overall, I rate this experience "middle of the road". My meal was great, but my guests weren't. Timing was super slow, but the restaurant did what they could to make up for it. Prices were a bit high for the quality of food received. Ambiance and history of the restaurant is great. Several cons, but several pros as well.
I do want to add a big "thank you" for the special champagne toast provided...that was very thoughtful and sweet, and made the experience special!! I also really do appreciate the efforts that management made to make up for the lag in timing, and I think I would try the restaurant again for a special occasion (it is a little to pricey for a regular date night for us).
Tasty duck dish often not found on American menus, friend had lovely lamb shanks. Poutine was rich but a nice break from the ordinary. Loved the patio train area, beautiful lighting, nice people.. Food was a bit slow out of the kitchen, but we weren't in a hurry, so fabulous happy time!
I loved this place, it was delicious but also very very expensive.
Always enjoyable eating here, it never disappoints. Quality and service are always top notch. A go to when visiting Tucson.
Best hamburger I've ever had, and the friends I was with all really enjoyed their entrees, too. Love the location with trains going through. Would have liked to have a few more creative options for appetizers. And the service was a slow and a little inattentive. But overall experience very positive.
Great food, great service and excellent wine. My wife and I had steak tartare as an appetizer and then the bouillabaisse and duck. Wonderful dishes that we enjoyed. Paired with a great bottle of wine made for a wonderful dinner.
We wanted a quick bite before going to the opera and chose Maynards for a change of pace. The close-by garage parking (over the bridge) was convenient. The atmosphere is both formal and fun in view of the railroad theme. There service was good. The celery bisque was delicious and so were our meals. I would return to Maynard's next time we find ourselves downtown.
