We love the location and decor. We went for brunch and there is a good variety to choose from the menu. Service was excellent, food was hot and tasty.
All good. An enjoyable night with family.
Excellent food and experience! Previous reviews stated that there was a wait and inattentive staff, but we did not have this issue at all on a Saturday night with a 7 pm reservation. We sat upstairs, were waited on quickly and received all our orders at a reasonable time after ordering. Our main waiter answered questions and all other support staff was spot on. I would definitely recommend this to others from out of town.
Very nice upstairs .. much quieter than downstairs. Helpful server. No one rushed us.
Food nicely prepared. Duck was delicious. Only glitch was being out of salmon and they substituted a monk fish dish without even asking us!
It was awesome way to celebrate! Will go there again in the near future
Our waiter was excellent. The cocktails were great and the food was outstanding.
The veal chop and the fish specials were excellent. Service was prompt and attentive. The tables are a bit close and the noise level is high. All in all a great dining choice.
This is always our first place to choose to go when we want a great dinner!
Nice dining room with large windows and vista. Delicious bouillabaisse and excellent sauce on the duck.
This was a wonderful dinner experience with good friends. We all loved the food. The only weak point was the dessert, which was just OK. The salad, main courses and drinks were perfection.
The food, the decor was awesome. The service, not good. Don't know why, but our waitress disappeared numerous times and left us sitting and waiting.
I had a bit of difficulty finding something gluten free. They use msg on the prep of the food, gave me a migraine. Just get a chef that can cook clean flavorful food.
We had planned to visit this restaurant prior to our stay in Tucson, and we were not disappointed. It is by the train tracks - that adds to the atmosphere! - and the food was just superb. Highly recommended for anyone stopping by Tucson for a day or two.
This was one of the places mentioned in the concert booklet. It is a shot drive from the Tucson Music Hall. You can walk from the Realito or Foxx Theaters. It has a market, where you can order sandwiches and a drink. You can sit at the small bar or take a table outside. The kitchen, or dinning room has a totally different menu. There is something on the menu for vegetarians, I couldn't tell you how many things. The food was very good. We will be going back again.
Another excellent evening, with good wine and an eclectic menu very well done. Our party had a number of very tasteful dishes including the mushroom toast, which was succulent and full of great textures, seared scallops and PEI mussels, done in a very fragrant broth/sauce and cooked to perfection. Other dishes experienced included the fresh trout and an interesting melange of tagliatelle, sausage and vegetables in a light creamy preparation. We did indulge in two deserts and would recommend one try all of Maynard's offerings on that menu. All in all, another wonderful evening at a unique eatery.
Great menu and sides. More items to try. Will have to go back a number of times.
May not be for people on a budget, but definitely worthwhile for special occasions!
Great meal and service. We sat outside so we had occasional train noise but we loved that.
Very inattentive service. Before even ordering, took nearly 15 minutes to get a glass of wine. Same thing happened during dinner. Many at table ordered the BOUILLABAISSE. It was OK. Fairly bland due to lack of seasoning, and the "scallops" were perfect disks. Obviously not scallops . Others had the tagliatelle and again, bland and under seasoned. But the real problem was the service. Tough to go back because of that.
Great food, great wine selection and great ambience.
We cannot recommend this popular spot to anyone who expects good service.
We arrived on time for our Open Table reservation. Checked in with the lady hostess and was advised to wait for an available table (even though we can see quite a few empty ones). 10 minutes go by and people who seemingly had no reservations were seated before us by a young hostess. We went up to inquire and she offered that she was new and didn't realize we were already waiting? Yes, they have a computerized screen in-front of their station.
After being seated for another 10 minutes...one of us had to flag down the waiter for the menu. Mind you, all this took place while they were not full. Water finally came and orders taken. When coffee was brought to the table, they were in cups but without saucer? Spoons were also dropped on the table.
Finally when our 3 orders arrived, my side order of bacon was missing and the waiter's helper had dropped one of the two sauces for my Beignets on the floor. When he came back with the replacement sauce, I inquired about my side order. He went to check and came back to tell me that it was included with the Baked Eggs my partner ordered? Twice we had to ask for refills of coffee. Once, on his way back with the coffee pot, he was stopped by another table, whereupon he promptly forgot about our coffee and went back to the kitchen for the other tables needs.
Service is not focused and rather choppy although the food from the kitchen was quite good.
We had brunch this time...we are used to it being noisy, but were unprepared for the noise level at 9am. Please think about adding a bathroom on the first floor.
Great service and atmosphere. My wife loved her meal, the Risotto was excellent. I didn’t like the steak tartare, too funky. Had the lamb it was very good. The people are great.
The service was good and we enjoyed our food.
Intimate space, creative chef, excellent service, cool vibe.
This was a very pleasant surprise. The only real negative is that the restrooms are upstairs but it is just a minor annoyance. The braised lamb shank was as good as I have ever had. Service was attentive without being intrusive. A great experience that will be repeated!
We love having brunch at Maynard's. A window seat looking out on their bountiful garden full of veggies and herbs is the best! The baked eggs dish is rich and decadent although I felt it needed seasoning. The steak frite is fabulous and a great value at $17.00. As a bonus, the coffee is top notch. It was much busier here on this visit and the service suffered because of it. Looking forward to warmer weather so we can enjoy their patio.
Great atmosphere for a romantic evening. Friendly staff and excellent food. We enjoyed ourselves and will return again.
Maynard's was recommended to us by someone who claimed to know the better restaurants in the downtown area. Valet parking was available and necessary as we would never have known where to attempt to park, given that the public garage nearby was full. We were greeted and seated promptly at our reservation time. The setting is interesting as we were walked to our table by the hostess through an unheated lobby, up a staircase into what appeared to be a separate building. As we were walking, a train went by on some tracks that were close enough to make the noise uncomfortable. The founder of this restaurant apparently had something to do with the railroad. The service was excellent. The menu was not large but quite adequate. The wine list seemed small but also adequate. The food was quite good and we would certainly go back. The valet service was the best I have experienced, and our car was delivered promptly.
poor service. Food that was paired not brought together. Service was slow.
Always superb service and food. Local produce and protein. Best Pommes Frites this side of Quebec. Oysters plump and fresh.
Our server must have been new or not good. We asked for the soup and catch of the day -he didn’t know. When he told us we asked for the price, he didn’t know, but came back with the info. He never asked for our party for a drink order. A Bloody Mary was ordered but after asking twice it never arrived. After the 3rd reminder, when lunch was finished he really didn’t apologize but he said he wouldn’t charge us for it. It was Birthday but he didn’t acknowledge it. The hostess brought the Open Table complimentary BD desert. He was helpful with peanut allergy especially as they use peanut oil for their fries. Beautiful place, but had to wait 15 minutes for a table even with a reservation. I’ll try it one more time, as I liked their food /soup very much, good price, great garden outside the window seats. Maybe it was just a nervous and poorly prepared waiter.
Went for brunch on Sunday and was very pleased with the entire experience,
Late Valentine’s Day
Great ambiance being at the old rail station next to the tracks watching the trains go by.
A new and delicious find. What a beautiful restaurant. The ambiance is so romantic and warm. The staff helpful and attentive. The food was amazing! We started with the Prince Edward Island Mussels which were outstanding! Loved the broth, it was so flavorful. The Bistro Salad was so fresh and delicious. We had the Whole Grilled Trout which was extremely fresh and savory, I can still taste it today! The Beer-Brined Chicken was extremely tender, juicy and tasty. Didn't get to dessert, which also looked outstanding but to full from the wonderful meal. Looking forward to our next visit!
Server was on point, although a lil stuck up .... this was very subtle, and I normally do not care about such things but this review thing asked... I didn't feel like I belonged according to the feeling I got from him
Probably thought I didn't belong in a restaurant like this...
But his service and professionalism, again was perfect. (just something about his look and mannerisms that just didn't make me feel .... 'welcomed' I guess)
Food was amazing, had the the seafood dish.. (the soup thing) and the foie gras was amazing as always. Their steak was cooked perfectly (rare) and again the service was on point.
The food is so amazing. A great go-to place if you're trying to impress the significant other!
Delicious dinner and wonderful service.
A little pricey for us old folks, but the food at Maynards is always exceptional.
