We had a horrible experience last Sunday. We were a party of 4 with a brunch reservation. We all ordered pretty simple egg dishes: 1 basic breakfast (some eggs, meat, potatoes and toast) and 3 sausage scrambles. Over an hour later, we still did not have our food, nor did our server ever come to check in or offer us refills on coffee. When we finally got up and asked a manager, our food magically arrived, but unfortunately it was cold, and there was no sausage in the sausage scrambles! While I appreciate that the manager came by to apologize, it was a very bad experience, made even worse because we were hosting a business client. We will no longer return!
Unfortunately near the end of our dining experience, a private event was being held at the adjoining patio where very vivid disco like lights and loud music was being played. We couldn’t help but have it drowned out our conversation as we were seated directly next to the doorway toward that patio. Apparently the manager of Maynard’s was upset by this as witnessed by one of our party but no one apologized to us diners for the disturbance to our dining experience. Food was delicious but water was poured onto the bench where I was seated so I also experienced a wet rear end.
Thank you for joining us for diner and the feedback. The DJ's for the event had been previously directed not to start off loudly but instead to ease into the volume slowly due to some diners still enjoying diner. They obviously did not heed our request and it was too loud too early. While we did convey our apologies to a couple of tables on the patio I am sorry that the affect to our inside tables was not addressed. We do appreciate your patronage and hope to see you again. Sincerly, Maynards
Maynards Kitchen is one of my favorite restaurants in Tucson. The food is excellent, the service can be a bit slow when the staff is slammed on Saturday evening.
Thank you for the nice review. We appreciate the feedback.
Poor menu selection. Expensive items, but not enough consistent food items offered.
We sat outside and it was a very pleasant atmosphere. Great service from Max and delicious food.
Thank you so much for the great review! Cheers to Max!
It was OK. Menu was a little too Nuevo for me. Service was very good.
Headed to Maynard’s for the first time before a show at the Fox Theatre which is in walking distance of the restaurant. First time dining there and we loved it. Great location in a historic building next to the train depot. Classic white tablecloth setting with a great menu. Excellent, inventive cocktails and food. On site garden makes the food super fresh. The goat cheese beet salad was the best we’ve ever had. We loved it all.
Thank you very much for the fabulous review! We appreciate you joining Maynards for dinner before the show and hope for your continued patronage. Maynards Kitchen
All three of us thought our meals were outstanding. The fish feature was amazing.
Thank you very much for the great review!
Great service and food. A bit noisy. And they didn't have my favorite brand of scotch.
Very much enjoyed the atmosphere while dining here. Excellent service.
Four of us went and all enjoyed our varied meals. French fries are the best in town.
This was a business dinner. We arrived early & most of the tables were empty. The food was interested with lots of choices & delicious combinations. The service was MIA. We had to wait a long, long time to get each stage of our meal: drinks soup entree dessert. The server didn’t bring the check & I had to go search it down, wander around trying to pay. This was a recruitment dinner & we had no idea we would be holding the candidate hostage for nearly 3 hours. Our guest left exhausted & frustrated.
They best short ribs I’ve ever had, the potatoes with your sauce so good, also had a great bottle of wine from the Yakima Valley👍
Thank you very much for joining us for dinner and the great review! We appreciate your patronage and kind words. Maynards Kitchen
This is a beautiful restaurant with food to match. Everything we had—salad, fish & chips, gnocchi, and wine was delicious. It’s not inexpensive, but the great service, environment, and food could in fact justify it.
We enjoyed out dinner a lot. Our server was outstanding. A joy all around.
Thank you very much for joining us for dinner and the great review! We appreciate your patronage and kind words. Maynards Kitchen
Very underwhelmed with the dinner menu. Other items were available at the bar, but we could not order them at the table. The waitress was very well educated on the menu offerings, and the exotic places they were derived from.
Great restaurant! Service, food and ambiance were excellent. The only disappointment was that they had a terrific jazz group playing outdoors, but it was too cool to sit outside and we weren't dressed appropriately for the weather. Our loss! Looking forward to visiting again next time we're in Tucson!
Good, but not great. We have been hearing about Maynards since moving to Oro Valley 2 years ago. We were promptly seated at 5:30 as per reservation on a Wednesday evening. Our waiter was prompt and attentive throughout the evening. Cocktails were Ok, but not memorable. I did order the carrot soup, which was FANTASTIC. My wife ordered the “special” (salmon), and I ordered the short ribs. Both dishes were good, but not great. The short ribs were well prepared, but not flavorful. The salmon was also well prepared, but didn’t live up to all the hype we were expecting. BTW, the restaurant is located in a tastefully refurbished train station. If you find ambience in diesel engines whizing past every half hour, go for it.
Thank you very much for joining us for dinner at Maynards Kitchen. We appreciate the review as we are always looking for ways to improve ourselves each day. We will pass your feedback onto the Chef and strive so that next time you consider your dinner GREAT. Again, we appreciate the feedback. Maynards Kitchen
This was a wonderful and unique dinning experience! The service was also outstanding! Reccomend to anyone looking for a quaint pleasurable dinning adventure.
Thank you for joining us for dinner and for the great review! We really appreciate the good word of mouth and your patronage. Maynards Kitchen
Great food, wonderful waitress, ambiance was fine, however noise level was pretty loud near the bar area. Would suggest setting either outside or away from the bar.
thank you very much for joining us for dinner as well as the great review! We really appreciate your patronage and the nice word of mouth. Maynards Kitchen
Amazing every time
What a great meal! Wonderful flavors and fresh ingredients. Ambiance was lovely and our server, Lucy was so helpful! The best...
Thank you very much for joining us for dinner last Thursday! Lucy has been a nice addition to our team. We really appreciate the great review. Maynards Kitchen
I took some work associates from out of town to Maynards kitchen. Even the pickiest of them gave it very high marks. The perfect martinis were in fact perfect, and the food was exceptional. The fact that it is in a historic building also makes it a great place to go.
Thank you for joining us for dinner and for the great review. We really appreciate it. Maynards Kitchen
Maynards used to be great. Unfortunately the main bar tender and many of the waiters now suffer from a level of arrogance that is hard to stomach. We keep trying to go back thinking that this is just a one off, but it is not.
Well, Thank you very much for your continued patronage through the years. We are saddened that you do not appreciate the head bartender, and your server that evening. They each have been with us for almost the entirety of our business lifespan and have garnered quite the following of loyal, repeat regulars. We are happy to have them as part of our team. That being said we hope to make you feel as welcome as possible and hopefully next time you will have a better experience.
Maynards has become our go to restaurant in Tucson. Our waiter and auxiliary staff were right on everything. The mussels were to die for !!!!!! A real treat in a land locked state.
Thank you very much for the kind words and great review! We appreciate you joining us for dinner Sunday evening and are proud to be your "go to" place when visiting The Old Pueblo ! Maynards Kitchen.
I love Maynards but fir one thing. Please please do something to lessen the noise. Don’t know what that might be, but if I’m unable to hear across a table for 2, others must be feeling the same frustration.k
Thank you for joining us for dinner and the feedback. We will definitely give it some thought and try to come up with some ideas for noise reduction. We are glad to hear that everything else was enjoyable. Maynards Kitchen
The flavor was great but the portion size was disappointing. There was a lot of "stuff" on the plate but everything but the small duck portions was inedible to me. I ordered a side of Brussels sprouts there were not brought out to the table. When I asked again, they came out but not roasted sufficiently. The apps offered on the menu were not at all appetizing.
The service was also very slow.
Thank you for joining us at Maynards and the review. We will pass this review onto the Chef and consider your feedback on the duck. Thank you, Maynards Kitchen.
I met a friend here for Happy Hour dinner. We had a drink, two items to share and each had a salad. The ambiance was upscale casual, and friendly, food impressive, and quantities perfect. We talked a lot about the exceptionally artful blend of flavors in the mussels and mushroom pizza in particular, but the butternut squash and dates in the market salad were impressive, as well. If I return to Tucson, I will return to Maynard’s. Totally pleasant downtown spot.
Thank you very much for joining us for Happy Hour and the great review. We appreciate the good word of mouth and hope to see you again the next time you visit The Old Pueblo. Maynards kKtchen
Table against the rail was too small to be comfortable....had a special guest and asked for table on side of train and was refused even though not occupied.
The food was amazing, Jeff is absolutely the best waiter ever! My brother, sister-in-law and mother were in from Georgia and they said it was the best food and service they have ever had
Thank you so much for joining us last Monday for dinner. We are happy to hear that your family enjoyed everything. We are also happy to have Jeff as part of our team. Maynards Kitchen
In the early years of Maynards, my friend and I used to dine there often and always loved everything about it. Now that she lives out of state it seems like a special place for us to meet during her visit. The service was fine and helpful, but the first dish my friend ordered, a shrimp ceviche, had no taste and though she was going to send it back she ended up eating it because she was hungry. We did tell the waiter and she had the manger remove it. Fine. But what blew my mind was that my glass of Cabernet which my server recommended, cost $21. Not knowing this I ordered an other half glass which I later found out, was an additional $11. So my glass and a half of wine cost $32. It's outrageous. I wont be back.
Thank you for joining us or dinner and the feedback. We really do appreciate your patronage and we are sorry that you do not plan on returning. Just to clear up any confusion: The first wine you ordered was the Long Meadow Cab for $14 a glass but you ordered a larger 1.5 glass portion at $21. Then you ordered another FULL glass another Red for $11. So you enjoyed 2.5 glasses of wine, not 1.5 We are sorry any confusion regarding the wine list. Again, thank you for the feedback. Maynards Kitchen
Dined with a group of 8. Food and drinks were fabulous

This was one of the most amazing dishes I've ever experienced, I've literally traveled the world and have been to 4l3 star Michelin restaurants, and this experience was outstanding. The food was delicious the environment was perfect. I will be back very soon!

Great service, great atmosphere. Perfect night. Wish we could have arrived early enough for a cocktail before dinner in the awesome bar scene.

Our third time dining here when in Tucson. Great food both in the Market or the Kitchen! Cocktails are delicious and inventive. Great atmosphere although a bit on the noisy side, but vibrant and lively! Will definitely dine here again.
Thank you very much for joining us in both The Market and The Kitchen! It's just about time for the perfect patio weather in Tucson so I suggest you try happy hour one night out there! We appreciate the kind words. Maynards Kitchen
There’s lots of good reviews for good reason... this place is a winner!
Cozy, romantic, great food, good service.
