Maynards - Excelsior
Maynard’s is a place the locals can call home while still serving as a main tourist attraction of the Twin Cities Metro. We pride ourselves in a quality product at a fair price, but believe our consistent service and attention to detail (even amongst the big summertime crowds) sets us apart.

It was a blessing and a privilege to eat indoors at Maynard’s. From the reservation to the greeting, we started off with a good feeling it was going to be a nice evening out, the first with friends this year. We were seated in a booth adorned with plastic protectors from other booths and immediately served water and another pleasant greeting from our server. We felt comfortable and relaxed which was a joy during these difficult days and weeks. Our food arrived quickly and it was delicious, hot with over the top portions. I had the fried walleye tacos which were really a fish wrap but tasty and satisfying with a side of salsa. I was offered the waffle fries and there were so many on the plate, I had to certainly share. Our food came quickly but we were not rushed out of our table at all. We sat and visited and enjoyed our drinks until it was time to let go of a wonderful evening. This was the best visit to Maynard’s ever and I highly recommend going out there for a delightful social event!
We felt safe while we dined. Our server Sam was wonderful! The date night menu was great and so was the food! We’ve booked another dinner!!
Tuesday Night Special was great, steak was done just right, very tasty. Medley of veggies was good and the potato was HUGE . Maynard's did a nice job in laying out seating to accommodate Covid restrictions . Fun to dine in,looking forward to 'Date Night ' .
A little on the high side for sandwiches which come with chips. If you want another side, it's another $2.50 which brings up the cost. However, the food is quite good. They do a good job with their Covid safety measures. Good atmosphere. We eat here quite often.
We were there on Saturday night and had the best service ever. Our waitress was so funny, Unfortunately can't recall her name.
Did not seem like they were following COVID rules even a little bit. Very packed. We stayed but regretted it as people kept getting packed in. In my mind, it is okay that they don't follow the rules, but they should let you know when you make the reservation they aren't following state mandated rules and best practices.
Maynards, Friday night busy but with different options as to were to sit, felt safe. Great food options and the young lady that waited on us could not have been better.
Great! Everything felt safe and clean and the food was great!
Maynard's always has good food. It's consistent and well made.
Thumbs up for the ahi tuna crisps and the key lime pie. But the Cajun pork chop was way too salty.
Always great food. Great service. Only once (out of 1000 times) did we have a crabby waitress and the manager took care of it.
We visit Maynard’s frequently and have never been disappointed.
We were out for Valentine’s evening. Casual evening out with app’s and drinks was our plan. Maynard’s was perfect. Our waitress last evening was fabulous too!!
Dined on Valentine’s Day. My husband ordered filet off special menu. The steak was very flavorful and so tender. For not being known as a steak restaurant, I would definitely order again and recommend!
Everything was perfect for our Valentines dinner!
Great dining experience! Love the Thai Chicken Bowl and stir fry.
We were there Feb 13 and the website had a Valentines Menu we were excited about. The waitress said it was not available until the next day. The website didn't say that, but I guess it was assumed. We were disappointed but then tried to order the Prime Rib. The waitress said it was sold out. Another disappointment. We were seated by the windows on a very cold night. It was drafty. Not a good way to celebrate Valentine's Day weekend. Very disappointed.
Got seated right away. Nice two person booth table.
Consistant good food and great service as always. Maynards knows how to keep us coming back.
Excellent service and atmosphere. The serving sizes were generous and flavorful food. The walleye was amazing!
Good to be back open for family fun. Service and food was on par with pre-covid
The food and service were great, which is our expectation whenever we dine there.
Experience was great. We had the Tuesday special-Teriyaki steak. It was perfect. Cooked as we had requested and the sides were great.
Everything was good except my choice of lunch, it was lacking on spice (heat) way too Minnesota nice spice-less......(in the heat category)! Maybe I should have asked for ADDITIONAL heat!
Good food good service
Always good service and food. Very predictable!
My friend and I had the omelet special. It was very delicious and perfectly prepared. The meal and Bloody Mary was a perfect way to start our Saturday
It was fantastic, felt great to have a little normalcy again! Will be back soon!
Great to be back!!! We missed the Cajun Pork Chops- Best in Minnesota!
Thanks Jack & Maynards team
We are making a habit of getting to the Wed date nights - great value!
Friendly, attentive service and good ambiance, but food was slow and not warm.
Reservation was at 6:15 we weren't seated until 7:00\
Disappointed Maynard's did not heed the governor's executive order where restaurants and bars need to be at 50% occupancy.
The bar was packed, people were not wearing masks to/from the restrooms, tables had more than 6 people. Shame on you!
We will not be back. You willful disregard will hurt this state and our attempt to get back to normal. Maynards was warned the first opening this summer, now again.
Extremely crowded, no pickles for burgers (??) lots of “no” all night.
After a nice walk on the lake during winter in January, Maynard’s was perfect for drinks, great food and a busy energetic atmosphere!!
Everything was AMAZING as ALWAYS! Such a wonderful place!!
Service was great and food was delicious! We will be back!
Was surprised it was as crowded as it was but all precautions seemed to be in place. Food was just ok as is typical Maynards and menu is limited. Our server was awesome!
I like a slow paced dinner starting with appetizer and ending with dessert and after-dinner drinks.
Walleye fingers were perfect for 3 people to share. Salmon, Cajun pork chop, and chicken stir fry are recommended entrees. And the carrot cake is worth the price. Service was prompt and not pushy.
Our first outing since restrictions were lifted. It felt so good to be “normal” again.
