Maynards - Excelsior
Maynard’s is a place the locals can call home while still serving as a main tourist attraction of the Twin Cities Metro. We pride ourselves in a quality product at a fair price, but believe our consistent service and attention to detail (even amongst the big summertime crowds) sets us apart.
Great food and great service!!
It doesn't get any better than this! Delicious walleye with great service.
Pleasant restaurant on the lake. Good food great service.
Best Seafood Salad!!! Great service from Missy!!!
They closed the wharf after it rained for only 20 minutes. Didn’t want our business is the general mood we got from all the staff and we needed to get food and tables for 10 people for my niece’s birthday the sun was out and shining but no servers and food we kept getting no’s instead of suggestions. We did get a kind helpful server inside at our table and she was able to get our food to go. I think
A little more customer friendly trying to understand that a party of 10 for an 18 birthday day might be tired out and hungry after all the run around and there’s not a lot of options close by for us to change the party to.....plus I would think they would want our business. I am a very frequent customer and live in the area and I’ve never experienced anything like it....hope it doesn’t happen again
Nacho’s were good.
My husband and I brought my parents to Maynard’s for dinner and it was great! The view of the water and the warm weather made our dinning experience one to remember. My dad and I ordered the chillian sea bass and my Mom ordered the special, Parmesan crusted halibut and my hubby had the granny salad. All our meals were very delicious. We finished our meal with key lime pie, it was perfect and big! I would recommend dinning at Maynard’s.
Great experience! Were able to eat outside with the indoor menu... best of both worlds. New waitress was excellent as well. Food great as always
Met a friend I'd not seen for a year for lunch. Maynards never disappoints! Great, attentive service that let us catch up with each other without feeling rushed. Great food! My new favorite is the Ahi tuna poke bowl; perfect blend of flavors!
My only complaint is the last 3 times I’ve been there I’ve ordered the Sea Bass. (We are at Maynard’s every 4-6 weeks). Maynard’s has never had it. The server offers to grill another fish. The other fish is really dry. It would be nice if the server would have suggested to order grilled chicken, instead of the ‘other’ fish. Also, if you don’t have sea bass, take it off the menu.
Everything else was great! From the dock crew, server, reservation was timely, hostess was fun & kind. Everyone else loved their food. Good job with an incredibly busy weekend!
Maynard's never disappoints on a summer night. although we were inside and it was CRAZY busy we were seated within 20 min. The Hostess staff was very professional and in good humor and plowed thru a lot of diners, not all were polite that just showed up. Food and drink as great!
Went with friends, sat indoors by a window. It was nice we had reservations because it was packed inside & out! There was over an hour wait & we were seated right away! I had the orange salmon, it was excellent! My husband said his Walleye was average, but that the 1st time we’ve had something just ok. Our friends had the salmon/asparagus salad & teriyaki steak & said their meals were good as well. After dinner we went outside by the corn hole games, had a drink & played with some random friendly chaps we met. It was a beautiful evening, laughed a lot, will be back! Only downside-if you call it that is that the lines at the bar & bathrooms were crazy busy!!
Went to Mayfor some food and drinks with some friends
Very fun venue!
Can’t beat food and drink at the lake 😊
The food was good as always. Nice place to eat with a choice of eating inside or outside weather permitting.
Brought my husband to Minnesota for the first time and wanted to find a traditional “Minnesotan” meal. Had the broiled Walleye with wild rice pilaf and it hit the spot! So delicious and of course great views and great service. Loved it!
We went for the Fourth of July - food was great, atmosphere was fun, but the drinks were VERY weak. That could have been because of the holiday, but that was our only complaint.
Came out for Fourth of July. Really fun but very frustrating that we got charged for specialty cups that we didn’t ask for. 1.50 per drink isn’t a ton, but it’s extra than normal. Two people over six hours racks up a decent chunk of change for a novelty thing we ultimately didn’t care about. Waitress laughed it off when we asked about it. Otherwise great food and fun patio.
Our neighborhood restaurant that we love!
The service was excellent. The music was too loud and after asking our server to either move us or turn down the music, she had the volume decreased and it was much better. She tended to our needs very well. The fish wrap had very little flavor, was bland. Atmosphere was pleasant.
Great, as usual
Pretty loud inside
Always outstanding... Food and ambiance is excellent, Server may have been new, however she took great pride in taking care of us. Always a favorite.
The food was good but portions are too big. I’d never been there before so didn’t know we should have split the meal. Hated the coleslaw.
I have frequented Maynard’s many times over the years. It’s usually very, very busy, so I hadn’t been there recently. My favorite sandwich was your chicken salad and now it’s not on the menu anymore. I can’t speak to the value because I didn’t pay the bill. You have a perfect spot on the lake. When the weather is nice, your outside seating offers many choices.
Had a phenomenal time! The staff and ambiance were perfect! And the FOOD.... Fabulous!
Yes, lovely setting especially if you can sit on the patio
We love Maynards! Consistently great!
Friendly server and great dinner on back deck.
It was a perfect night to sit on the patio and enjoy dinner. The service was good and the food was delicious. I enjoyed the Mr Jimmy hamburger. It was awesome. The best part was the key lime pie. That is my absolute favorite thing on there menu. We will definitely be back.
We had a great time at Maynard’s. Anna was our server and she was outstanding! Answered all our questions, made great suggestions, was prompt and attentive. All of us commented on how great she was at her job and representing Maynard’s.
Service was stellar! Staff was very attentive to my two young children, in addition to the adults. Good food, good atmosphere.
What an amazing experience for a couple of California gals!! This place is huge and one big party! The patio is enormous and the waterfront view is spectacular. Super friendly and attentive service especially from Amanda! Food and beverages were unique and delicious!! Seasoned sour cream is interesting...a Midwest must try!!
We like Maynards a lot. Food prices are super reasonable, quality is consistent and good (if not epicurean). Staff is always prompt, friendly and good with the table service. We will keep coming back. The patio (when you can find a table) makes the experience all the more pleasurable.
Great birthday lunch! We were there at 11:30, had a corner window table with a view of harbor and the lake.
Awesome food and service, as usual!
Server was very attentive maybe too much we both felt like we should order and leave instead of the leisure lunch and catching up we wanted to do.
Too loud and difficult for private conversation. Service and food was great. I’ll come back, but not for a business meeting.
Food for everyone was very good. I had the special soup (cold shrimp) and was told it wasn’t spicey when I asked but it was loaded with red onion that I had handpicked out.
So I wished I had ordered something else. Waitress saw the pile of onion and never asked me about it.
Reservations are absolutely required and then be prepared to wait anyway. Very busy both weekend days we've been there...not nearly enough room and people stay all evening. Love the patio but couldn't even see the lake from the restaurant due to so many people on the patio all evening. Disappointing as we couldn't even carry on a conversation at dinner.
