Maya Tapas & Grill Ratings and Reviews
We booked a table at Maya's through Open Table to enjoy Halloween at Lincoln Rd, that was the beggining of a spooky night:
* The hostess could not find our reservation upon arrival - booh!
* She finally found it through Open Table only to inform us that there was a special $75 minimum charge per person for Halloween night - booh!
* There was no such warning on Open Table, I also showed her a text I received asking for confirmation of the reservation without any mention of such special minimum charge. Her response? "That's Open Table's problem" - booh!
* She shows us the menu and tells us "With tonight's prices you will not have a problem spending at least $75 - booh!
* She is going to do us a big favor because other customers reserved by phone and paid in advance so she consults with her manager and negotiates a reduction to $65 minimum charge for us - booh!
I ask to speak with the manager and he finally agrees that we get a table - not without pushing me to accept the conditions, I explain that they should have communicated clearly the minimum charge at the time I made the reservation so I could decide to accept the conditions or go somewhere else
As warned, prices are very high plus food is beyond mediocre (eg Our Provoletas were burnt) - booh!
Another manager shows up before we are done with dinner and informs us that we need to vacate the table for the next reservation - booh!
It takes 20' for the waiter to come with the bill and process our credit cards while we pushes us out: "the next reservation is already here" - booh!
We consumed appetizers and a beer each, we end up spending approximately the infamous $75 minimum charge per person, our hostess was right - booh!
We get up to mingle with werewolves and mummies, that was the least scary part of the night
My mother turned 80!! What a fantastic evening had by all 8/27. The restaurant is all fresco right in the heart of Lincoln Avenue in Miami Beach. The location is vibrant and filled with Great Energy! Our waitress Veronica was Fantastic! Catered to our every whim to make my mothers special day even more special. It was a night of stupendous and delicious dinning, wonderful savory cocktails, that energized our conversation in a perfectly balanced atmosphere. What a wonderful experience! Thank you Dearest Veronica for putting up with us and thank you Maya Tapas and Grill for a night we will never forget!
We wer looking for a light meal along Lincoln Road. Knew it would be pricier than others because of the location. Ordered the calamari, beef carpaccio, and chorizo & garbanzo, along with a caipirinha and a chocolate martini. The drinks were good and the calamari was nicely done. The beef carpaccio and chorizo & garbanza tasted great, but we were a little disappointed in portion sizes (yes, we kenw thy were tapas plates, but still). Service was OK, but would have expected more attention considering the patio was only half full. Nice relaxing experience overall, but was a bit more expensive than anticipated. Probably will try a different rstaurant next time.
Our food was good and our waitress was super sweet. However, I feel management of the restaurant was poor. We had 19 people booked and the manager was not aware of it until we turned up. We ended up waiting for 25 minutes for two tables to be set up for us. The order taking system was high tech but was not easy to use and our children's food was greatly delayed. Manager came by and blamed it on the waitress instead of taking responsibility for it. We were also served the wrong cocktails and took a long time to reorder. Still gave it 4 stars because I understand serving 19 people is tough.
In middle of the Lincoln road ambient... you could see thousands of people coming and going while you enjoy a perfect Argentinian Parrillada...and of course good red wine... very good the Flan and the Tiramissu desserts... price razonable for the quality of the food
Slow service. Waiter forgot drink. Never checked back on it and had to have it taken off the bill. Waiter kept complaining about Miami staffing problems. I don't care! I just want to eat a good lunch. Food not as described in the menu. Urgh. Overall not great!
We were excited by the menu and description for Mayas Tapas and Grill. Imagine our surprise to find that there was no restaurant, only tables in the middle of the Lincoln Road mall. Outdoor eating may be lovely for some, but we should be given a choice. There was no indication on the Open Table page that this was only outdoors. The biggest problem is that all of the international visitors smoke cigarettes and cigars while dining, which is why the outdoor seating is unacceptable.
I blame both Mayas and Open Table for the lack of disclosure. We got up and left.
NOTE: THE FOOD RATING ABOVE IS NOT ACCURATE. THIS REVIEW REQUIRED IT.
This was really a bit better than ok, but surprisingly at 7ish on a Saturday a number of dishes were not available. We stuck with tapas. My husband enjoyed the blood sausage, a favorite of his. Others had the crab cakes, gazpacho, fried artichokes and guacamole. I don't understand why a large dish of guacamole costs $12. I had the mussels. They were good, but missed the sweetness I usually enjoy.
Our waiter while enthusiastic really did not know the menu. Our water was frequently refilled, though at one point I thought his inattentiveness would have led to my dish being soaked - he just missed!
Not a good experience. Food is ok but nothing special. Touristy place in Lincoln Rd. Took advantage of prices and minimum order because it was Halloween night. Been charged more than the normal price for food and drinks. This is scan and total unprofessional by Maya Tapas! We are locals and will never go back, neither will recommend this place to any family/friends visiting south beach
This restaurant should be removed from Open Table
I made a reservation for Halloween night via Open Table
When we checked in the wanted to give us a table way in the back away from the Halloween traffic. When inquiring as to why we couldn't have one of the good tables. I was told I needed to provide an advance deposit to get one of these tables. After 30 minutes of arguing we got a decent table
The food was good. I've eaten here before the food is always good
When the check came I wanted to use an Open Table voucher I had to pay the bill. They refused to accept it
That was the reason I made the reservation that night when everything is overpriced. I wanted to use a voucher and not have to pay out of my pocket
Never going back.
good thing about Maya: ability to accommodate a group of 11 in short notice on busy night. The rest was just Bad!. Gee!! Service was slow. 20 mins to get 1st group of drinks. Got a watered down glass of Chianti (worse than house wine). 1hr later 1st half of mains were delivered. Half way through, the 2nd half got their main plates. Mine didn't show up (Short Ribs). Server looked surprised and genuinely apologetic when I pointed my empty table zone. 20 mins later my no so appetizing short ribs showed up and sent them back. Most of the others in the table complained about how poor the good was (not sure if it was a gesture of sympathy or authentic) but I tried others pasta and it was like Ragu and the other plates didn't look very appetizing
Delicious, if expensive, Argentinian mixed grill. The meat was cooked unevenly, from rare to medium well, which had us trading pieces. Good sweetbreads, too.
Service tried to be friendly but was inefficient and frequently confused.
Convenient, delightful Lincoln Road location. You pay for the great location as much as you pay for the food.
