our go to place for special occasions. great food, great atmosphere, they know how to make you feel special. the steaks are amazing - flavorful, tender and OH so delicious.
This is my 4th time visiting Maya's in the last year and generally I have had excellent reviews. The last time it seemed to take forever for our meals to reach our table and it appeared that other groups that arrived after us were served before ours. Our wait person was seemly a little nervous about working with us and when I asked how long they had worked at the restaurant I was told that they had been there since the restaurant opened. I might return in the future but there are a few other restaurants I might try first.
The food was exceptional and they gave a nice ambiance for Mother's Day. The only con I have was that the menu and the specials they had were mis leading. Overall it was worth the drive and ultimately worth most of the money.
It was our first visit and we will be back soon. Everything we had was fantastic!
Excellent Steak. We had the Cow Boy Rib Eye and can't wait to go back again to have the same. Good menu selection, Great Service and Wine. We have always been able to get a reservation and its easy in and out with valet parking. Highly recommend it.
Love this classy little restaurant and this was our third visit. The food was very good; however, we waited quite a while for our salads (which were excellent) and then for our entrees, while noticing that people around us were finishing their dinners before we received ours.
Would love to see this restaurant succeed, but service needs to be consistent.
Brought my mom in for a Mother's Day dinner and had a great meal! Wayne is an amazingly fun waiter, and the food was amazing. I highly recommend the bone-in filet mignon oscar and a craft cocktail. I'm glad that we found this great steakhouse! We will definitely be back.
Food was OK. Reason for 3 star rating was the ridiculously long time to get our food. An hour after we arrived. Place was pretty empty because we were there for an early dinner. Steaks were ordered rare--shouldn't have taken that long.
Must have been an off night. Food was good but service was not up to par for a steakhouse. Missed opportunities abounded.
We've dined here often. Always great food, service and ambience.
This was our second visit to MAYA, and it won't be our last. The food is exceptional, and this restaurant food quality is equal or better than any five star restaurant in Atlanta/Buckhead. Service was outstanding as well, and everyone does a great job of making you feel like you are the most important customer they have in the restaurant that day. I hope others try MAYA as it would be a shame if such a great neighbor hood gem were to fade away because people don't support it.
Best Truffled Mac & Cheese ever!
We didn't like our service. We were there on a Saturday and it wasn't very busy. However, our waiter did not put much attention to us and he lacked patience. We felt like perhaps he thought he was doing us a favor by waiting on us. The service was bad. I expected more at a restaurant where you pay between $30-50 for entrees. We might go back, but we'll certain request another waiter.
On a more positive note, the food was good. I thought it was prepared well with fresh ingredients along with a nice presentation.
High quality steakhouse in Sandy Springs! Why go all the way to Buckhead or Krog when the Perimeter has such a fine dining experience right there?!? Perfect steaks, great service.
Excellent food and service. Lovely ambience '
We finally went to Maya this past weekend after hearing really good things about the restaurant and Chef Mimmo. We absolutely loved the place from the décor, ambiance, service and of course top quality food. The options on the menu for starters, salads, and sides are great - fresh and creative like the Octopus and goat cheese fritters. My wife is vegetarian and she had no problem finding a variety of things to order. The lobster tail was my favorite and highly recommend it! We will certainly be back and recommend the place for a quiet romantic dinner or a group event.
Amazing food, staff and ambience! My wife and I love Maya and will return over and over again. Keep up the awesome work Maya!
Came back again on a date after eating hear during a business meeting. What a great place to eat for a special occasion. Was welcomed right from the start. Service and food was really good. steaks are some of the best I have had.
Sue our waitress provided great service and was very helpful with selections. Prompt, personal and professional. The goat cheese fritters and lobster chips were excellent. The cowboy steak was a little tough but tasty.
My wife and I decided to get out for a nice dinner this past Wednesday night. We had been hearing such great things about Maya, so went to check it out for ourselves. We were not disappointed whatsoever... We found the restaurant to be well worthy of the acclaim! While premium dining for sure, the place doesn't come off as stuffy as some others in that category tend to. My guess is it starts at the top as it's a family owned restaurant. Everything from the manager's greeting as we entered the door to our server's (Wayne) attention to detail was top notch! As far as upscale steakhouses go, this place simply gets it. The menu itself has a wide variety of cuts to choose from along with some great fish options! There are numerous hot/cold appetizer choices along with some specialty side dishes. My wife had the branzino whole fish that she found to be delicious while I went for the bone-in filet. Both were cooked perfectly. I did give some consideration to the 34oz Tomahawk cut, but thought it might get the better of me... We also shared the saffron broth mussels to start and the tiramisu to finish things off. Wayne was kind enough to bring us a complimentary shot of a new drink they're testing as well. Hope it ends up on the menu! Can't say enough good things about this place... We'll be back for sure!
We had the filet with king prawns and the sea bass and both were excellent and they accommodated our little one with buttered noodles. The crème brulee and cheesecake for dessert were also excellent!
The best steak in Atlanta has been compromised. They clearly have changed beef suppliers. What they served is not USDA prime .... select at very best. Good service and terrific attitude, but does not make up for poor quality.
Literally the best steak in tow!. Very tender and flavorful. The sides and appetizers are delicious. We had the octopus and escargot for starters. So good! We also enjoy the family- style sides, especially the corn.
We decided to come out to celebrate and were greatly disappointed. The tone was set by the hostess who would not accommodate us on the patio although we had made reservations and the patio only had one couple. She did not even check, just said they were booked and did not even try to be nice about it. Then came the waiter who appeared to also be the bartender. It was our first time dining and he did not offer any suggestions or any friendliness. He seemed annoyed by us being their. I don't know if this is because we were an interracial couple. The appetizer we got was very lackluster and did not meet the description. The rack of lamb was cooked perfectly but I did not like the sauce it came with. The truffle mac and cheese was the best part of the meal. We waited for someone to check on us and eventually had to get up and ask for the check. The bartender/waiter was super rude and brought the check without even speaking to us. We had to call after him for a small carryout box and then someone else came and wrapped up our table service. The service or there lack of thereof soured the entire dinner. The manager walked by our table numerous time without even looking to see if we were satisfied. The place seemed to be a place for 50s and older, Caucasian crowd.
We love our neighborhood steak place- our quite gem in the heart of Sandy Springs. Easy to get to. No crazy Buckhead traffic. Food is always delicious. Big portions. We always bring home our extras to enjoy the next day.
Food is always exceptional but eating on the patio is chilly. They need to get extenders to turn the fans off as they always are on
Service was excellent. Selections from menu were varied and presented well. I look forward to visiting again and trying something different the delicious meat.
Sempre eccellente cucina, It is my go to restaurant for authentic taste with excellent service each time I arrive Atlanta from Italy. Everything is always a treat to taste but the chef is masterful with seafood, and the mussels are beyond fabulous. It is a wonderful place to done and you can actually carry on a conversation with who you are dinjng with.
Fabulous steaks and everything else!! Be sure you save room for dessert!!
Great food and exceptional service. Highly recommend the octopus and the bread pudding
Our server Jeremy was absolutely amazing. Food was delicious and the personalized service is unsurpassed!
Delicious and nicer than it appears from the outside. We were pleasantly surprised after driving by this restaurant for years to find the superb service, delicious food and pleasant ambiance found. Definitely worth a second visit and more.
The food was delicious , and we were having a great time, until the end of our meal when we asked for a box for our food... the server offered to box it for us ... we said ok. She then proceeded to stack our plates and put them under her arm and take them to the kitchen. Moments later she returned with my husbands coffee... but no boxed food... she leaves again... and returns with our desserts... but again, no boxed food... finally we asked her about our food and it was painfully obvious that she had forgotten to box our food... she gave some BS excuse and returned to the kitchen... she finally returned with our food in a box... by that time we were bothered because our food had been left unattended in the kitchen for 10 minutes ... it definitely put a bit of a damper on our experience.
Went to Maya's for the first time on Valentines night. My fault for not realizing that the Prix Fixe menu was the ONLY menu choice as I was looking forward to trying the bone in ribeye (not an option that evening).
Being V-day it was pretty crowded and the hostesses were suitably apologetic about the wait to get our table. Even crowded however the atmosphere was pleasant and not too noisy.
Our particular server seemed to be the least efficient of the group as I saw others that seemed much more active. Possibly as a result, by the time our main courses arrived they were a bit cold. The food was okay, not great, but I am willing to chalk that up to an uninspired fixed menu- although, my medium rare filet was tasty, if a bit cold when eventually served. The Sea Bass was overdone.
Again- the learning here is not to go there on Valentines day.
The steak was good enough to warrant giving them a second chance- on a much less busy evening.
It is understandable that service would be challenged on Valentine's Day. There are a number of people eating out that normally don't so they can require more maintenance. But this was WAYYYY beyond yhat.
A 3 course limited selection menu took 2 1/2 hours and we did not stay for desert. Eating our drinks took 45 minutes after we sat down and my wife had to go to the bar to get one of them. No comps and no discounts.
Valentine's Day - the food was well prepared but the service was terrible. The hostess was rude, the bar tender was not friendly, we were not seated promptly (40 minutes) and then we had to argue to get a table that was "taken" but empty, the waiter was friendly but very slow, the total experience took over 2 hours and we thought it was very over priced and under delivered.
My wife and I went for Valentine's Day. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. We will be back, for sure!
The steak was very nice. My wife enjoyed the carpaccio and seabass. The restaurant is small. We were seated next to the door despite having made the reservation weeks before, and despite there being many open tables. Service was slow, but it was Valentine's Day. We will probably give it a second chance.
Fixed Valentine's Day menu. Very few choices, very crowded. Not a great first experience at Maya, but due to excellent service, will try again.
The meal was good, as was service for the first two courses, but desert was very slow coming out - a couple who ordered their meal after us received their desert before us. And this was after ordering all three courses in advance from a prefixed menu.
