Poor service on our last visit, cup of water was not refilled the entire time we ate.
Food was good, lacked some of the veggies we had in the past for the same dishes. Ended up being about 1.75 meals for us with the amount of leftovers. We had two entree’s, a alcoholic beverage, and a starter for around $75 after tip.
To be honest I don’t like Thai food but the salad I had was amazing. And as always my wife loved her meal. We go every Valentine’s Day but now that I know there’s something I really like on the menu, we will definitely be dining there more often.
For the second time, we've had late reservations and both times, they were out of the spring roll appetizer. This is something I will always want to order, so its quite a disappointment. The rice didn't come out with the soup...which we wanted to put in the soup, and the larb was so spicy that I had to drink a lot of water. I've always liked Mays, but I'm not very happy lately.
We love Mays and have been going there from the beginning but this time was not as special. The fresh spring rolls were delicious as usual, but the main meal was not up to standard. The phad Thai was a mushy overcooked mess. We wanted to order phad kee mao but in the past year or so the spiciness level has been raised to the point where we knew our guest would not eat it. The last time we ordered it the heat level was very high for us and we like it a bit spicy. We ordered the phad metmamunanghimmapha but it was better in the past when there were also green beans in the dish. Now it's just onions and some cashews. We also ordered the phad normai farang goong. The dish was visually attractive and the sauce was tasty, but several asparagus end were very tough and should have been cut off. The whole shiitake mushrooms were also tough and unappealing.
Overall this was not the best experience for a premium Thai restaurant. Hopefully this was just an off night.
Went to May's with a group of my girlfriends on our visit to the Lodges on Vashon. Service was great but I was not impressed with the food. One friend ordered the pad thai and she said it was too sweet. I ordered the yellow curry and it was so salty that I could not eat it. I also wish they ask how spicy we want it like other thai places.
Our meal at May Kitchen + Bar was fabulous ~~ as always!
May never disappoints. Best place on Vashon to take out of town guests.
The service was lovely, this was our second time there and we were impressed with the service and food. We would love to return again when we are in Vashon. Highly recommend for authentic Thai food.
May's is the best Thai restaurant in the South Sound. The food is amazing as are the drinks. But it's the ambience that really makes it. It's got a cool vibe. It is worth a trip to Vashon Island.
Very nice atmosphere and decor. Menu provides many different gourmet choices. Best to make reservation as can get crowded.
We traveled to Vashon for my husband's birthday. We heard a lot about this place so figured it was the perfect place to celebrate. The food was great and everyone was incredibly friendly. Our server was particularly attentive and gave my husband dessert on the house. Don't feel like you always find this type of genuinely friendly service these days, so it was refreshing and awesome to find. Cocktails were creative and small plates were our favorite.
May's is consistently outstanding and makes any occasion a special occasion.
We are so lucky on Vashon to have this restaurant on the island. period.
Phenomenal place but don’t tell anyone
Simply great in all ways, especially the food.
excellent food in a small space that was quite noisy and intense....... THe service was OK, but not terribly attentive. The prices were quite reasonable and the portions were larger than the average restaurant.
This is my favorite restaurant on Vashon. It's something special and you'll find that to be true in one visit. There is not an item on the menu that isn't amazing with well-thought presentation. The staff is professional and friendly.
I've brought vegetarians, picky friends, and people I want to impress. No one hasn't loved the experience and the food.
We’ve never had fast service at May’s but tonight was exceptionally slow. We felt forgotten about
Good food relaxed atmosphere
The food was good as always but my Tom Ka was luke warm and should have been hot. Also I asked for it to be spicy and it was fairly mild. The desert was excellent ! And the wine wonderful.
I'll still be back.
Unbelievably delicious food. Since living in Thailand this is the first place I’ve been to where the food tastes like real Thai food. If anything, it’s better. Ambiance gorgeous and total, staff friendly and cheerful. Drinks are off the hook good. Amazing.
We go to May's for many of our family special occasions. This was a weeknight, so a bit quieter, but the food was still excellent. Our server made the Phad Thai with entertaining flair. It was a very enjoyable meal.
We enjoyed our friend's birthday celebration at May's. Always can count on great food and friendly staff!
Terrific, as usual! Good food and good service. Will be back-often!
It was amazing!! The atmosphere was great and we had the best Thai food ever!!
The food was very good, particularly for my first time eating Thai food. I have a severe peanut allergy and they made sure everything was safe for me to eat; even the phad thai! I was surprised at how sweet everything was, but I'm told that's normal for Thai food.
Wonderful as usual- with a special (and unexpected) birthday treat.
Wonderful food, and a beautiful ambience. We love all the staff there.
Everything was excellent except that there were three couples waiting outside until they opened...would have been nice to let us in the lobby for the few minutes before our reservations as it was very cold outside. Was a little disappointed that they were out of spring rolls since we were there at five and that's when they opened. Otherwise, delish.
The food was awesome! The staff was awesome! The Vashon Community is awesome!
My fiancée and me ordered our favorite Thai dishes, and were blown away! Truly among the, if not the, best Thai dinners we’ve ever had. The manager also treated us with the most FABULOUS Creme Brûlée for dessert!
The young servers were very polite, knowledgeable, and attended to us with great energy. After speaking to the manager, we saw the clear reflection of their courteousness.
All the Vashon people talked about this restaurant. We met a part-time worker at another stop, and mentioned our dinner reservation. To our surprise, she called the restaurant in advance in order to gift us with that wonderful dessert mentioned.
May Kitchen has a new menu with some old and some new items.
Tried something new and it was very good. I love this restaurant!
