Maxwells Ratings and Reviews
I have had wonderful meals here in the past. Love the atmosphere and ambiance. Decided on the special of the evening which was halibut. Presentation, flavors, were wonderful but halibut was overcooked and dry. First time I was disappointed with my meal at this restaurant. Would still highly recommend.
Maxwell’s never ceases to please. The manager greeted us with “ happy anniversary”, the bartender mixed a wonderful margarita, and our server provided the perfect amount of attention. The shared ahi tuna app was superb. Recommend the beef tenderloin w/goat cheese. We also had the halibut special, which was also a delight. One of the best times ever.
We were not rushed at all. The food was excellent. Cheese plate was the best I have had in Fargo. Salads were a great add. Surf and Turf and the Ribeye were both excellent. The waiter gave each course time to breath and never rushed it. And the chocolate lava cake was the perfect end to a stuffed tummy and wonderful evening.
The food and Service was amazing. One of the first things our server said was the table is yours for the evening. Please enjoy. My husband and I don't get a chance to dine out very often with 3 children and really appreciate not being rushed. We would highly recommend dining at Maxwells.
This was our first time at Maxwell's for date night. We had booth which made it very quiet and intimate. Loved the ambiance there and the food was fantastic. Our waitress, Kate, was able to answer all of our questions and did a great job. Will definitely be back!
The server was the best part of my experience. He answered the questions I posed as well as offering alternatives and suggestions. I have the bison steak with the lobster claw. They put a green cream sauce on the lobster. The sauce was bland and did not add any flavor to the meal. Lobster has so much flavor if it is fresh that the sauce isn't needed. The bison wrapped in bacon was "ok". Again the steak did not have much flavor. The server asked me how everything was going. I told him the meal lacked flavor. He suggested adding salt and pepper. This improved the flavor slightly. The asparagus and roasted potatoes were great. I topped off my meal with a peanut butter chocolate cheesecake. This was the best thing I ate at the restaurant.
I was really looking forward to the experience. But, sadly, I was disappointed. I am traveling for work. When I googled North Dakota food. The number one item to eat is Bison. I will have to try again at my next meal.
The restaurant is very nice. The ambience and decor are fantastic. A little more attention is needed to adding flavor to the dishes.
It was fantastic, the server was spot on and friendly with helpful recommendations. And oh the food! The best soup (sweet potato bisque) I have ever had came out, then I ordered the chili lime pork tender loin, my wife ordered the lobster fetichini with squid ink noodles. This was one of the best dining expiriences we have ever had, perfect way to celebrate our anniversary.
Very nice atmosphere and food presentation was beautiful. However, once again, our proteins were overcooked and dry. The desert they brought to make up for the dry fish was very dry. I'm sorry to say this was their last chance. I'm disappointed because of the wonderful ambience and it's so close to home.
It should be noted that Maxwells is a place of special occasions. It is not a place most people would go for a casual meal. Most main courses fall within the high 30 to 40 dollar range. That being said, for special occasions, it is well worth the visit.
We were at Maxwells for our anniversary. We shared their crab-cake and scallop appetizers. Both were very good, but of the two I recommend the crab-cake. For our main course, we had their fish of the day, which was swordfish. We were both very pleased. It was the best we had ever had. For desert we shared their banana bread pudding with rum sauce. It was good, but in all honesty, we enjoyed the appetizers and main course more. Service was excellent.
The food is absolutely incredible. The most challenging aspect is choosing from many great entrees. Great wine selection and fabulous home made desserts and ice cream. Top notch service. Maxwell's is a real gem as good as any restaurant in New York, london or Paris. It is a must try.
