Very enjoyable brunch, food was delicious, staff as attentive
Ordered the quesadilla. Didn't specify that it had tomatoes and guacamole on it anywhere on the menu. When asked for a new one without that was told it was pre-mixed.
Service also very slow, only about 5 tables seatd when we went, service just terribly slow even with what looked to be about 4 to 5 serving/hosting
Great neighborhood restaurant. Excellent service and great food. Outside dining is great too.
A solid, casual place to meet for reliable food and drink with friends or a date. The staff was friendly and sufficiently attentive. I would return if in the area.
Great food and service. The drinks were ok. Some were weak some were too strong.
There were far too many rules & restrictions on the unlimited brunch option. My friends and I were annoyed. We had to order before 2:30 when brunch is advertised until 4:00. We were not allowed to switch cocktails. We were told we could each order a cocktail & secretly mix and share with one another. When I later asked for new glasses I was told we couldn’t do that AFTER the server told me we could. They would not bring us new glasses. Thankfully the food was great but brunch in NYC should never be this difficult. I won’t return. We have thousands of options in this city that don’t come with a list of rules.
I’m grateful to have a cool neighborhood bar/restaurant to go to where there’s most bodegas and or Chinese restaurants as the alternative.
I grew up hear and it gives me a bit of a feel of downtown yet it’s a block away from my house.
The food was slow- from ordering it took 40 minutes. Otherwise it was a fun spot. Loud but good food. Happy hour drinks a good price.
Super fatty steak on the Caesar salad, couldn’t eat half of it, but everyone else’s food was delicious, would come back again and just get something else.
First time nice ambience and bar, food was good and service excellent.
Very pleasant outdoor area, great server. The food was fine, but not outstanding, perhaps a little pricey, but what isn’t in NYC? Great casual neighborhood place to bring kids or pets if you sit outside.
There is no option. for decaffinated coffee or special coffees. Food was good andd prepared to our requests. I would return because it is near my home.
Our waiter was very kind and welcoming however he forgot our appetizer. Our entrees were delicious and filling. The happy hour selection is VERY limited but I love margaritas and the one they had on there was DELISH and only $7. I would definitely go back.
The most welcoming people. The bartender, whose name we didn’t get but we’ll call him Bruno (Hawaiian shirt + fedora) made the most wonderful experimental drinks. So delish. Our server was friendly and efficient. Food delish and arrived in timely fashion. The Greek salad: amazing. First indoor dining this year: lovely. Great vibes all around.
Stunningly designed, timber ceilings, beautiful new wood floor, as if you had your millionaire log cabin suited up for the big city. Chic but sturdy. Very personable staff, airy, high ceilings, and great food (burger, salmon, vegetables sauteed in lemon and oil).
Great location by Central Park plus attentive service plus a tasty Top Shelf Burger equals a very satisfying post park repast!
Such a great place near the park for great food and drinks. Drinks were a little expensive but that’s kinda the norm in Manhattan.
The food was good and the coffee was great. I would come back. The price is reasonable too.
They definitely were trying to get by with a smaller than ideal staff (who isn’t right now?), but both guys on the floor were very friendly when they had a chance to get to us. The food was very good and priced well. The rustic decor was kind of at odds with the high energy music. Felt a bit more like a bar than a restaurant. I’d recommend it under specific circumstances.
Everything was amazing, the vibes, the food, the prices, the service, 10/10 I will definitely be back!
Maxwell is cozy friendly and a great limited place to get out to during this pandemic. The food for brunch is delicious. Tge avacado toast great. The French toast is hot and soft however the second time around was a bit dry and over done. That would not deter me from going again and trying the burger.
Very beautiful restaurant, great ambience, very attentive staff. Felt like we had the entire place to ourselves! Would definitely go again!!
This is definitely a have a drink restaurant and a few apps. The food is very basic and the wine is okay. The drinks were fine according to the rest of my party. The outdoor seating left a lot to be desired.
Delicious food, great bottomless deal, and very kind staff. Go for the bloody mary, they do them perfectly. Also try the baked eggs!
A simple place with good value to have lunch (and most likely dinner as well). Service was very friendly and accommodating. We had shrimp salads that were very good. I would recommend Maxwell's, especially for lunch (have not been there for dinner).
Service terrible, guy had never worked in a restaurant before, drinks took 15 minutes to be told they had ran out, food slow as well. Shame it used to be a great place for brunch and drink, going down hill.
Solid bet for brunch now that they've introduced unlimited
This place is always great. The food is great and they have bottomless brunch. Service is awesome.
Cute little neighborhood place...good pub food and drinks...will return when in the neighborhood
Good spot for get-togethers
Very delicious food. Quiet and cozy atmosphere.
Their Open Table UI interface was down, so they couldn’t check us in, but they still had a table for us.
Terrible service. 15 minutes to get 1 mimosa. Our food order got "lost in the system", the waitress didn't even realize that nobody had received the food and after 2 HOURS we had to inquire for it, and we were informed that our order had "disappeared". Total waiting time for the food 2 hours and 30 minutes, and one of the plates was not what was ordered and we had to send it back. Very unfortunate. We had been there before, therefore we will give the place one more chance, but we were very disappointed
The reservation process was easy but when we arrived, our requested high chair was not set up yet which was a little disappointing. When a staff member brought one over, the buckle was broken (defeating the entire purpose of having my toddler in a high chair) so he had to bring over another one instead. Once we were seated, I could tell the noise level and ambiance were fine (early on a Saturday evening in the summer). A server took our drink orders promptly. My partner was given a beer that was not ordered, but the can was already opened so it couldn't be simply exchanged. They apparently didn't have the one he ordered in stock but they didn't come by to ask if there was an alternate from the list. When the server came back to take our meal orders, I asked if we could get the order in for my child, but the server didn't quite seem to understand that I wanted that to go in before the adults ordered; that way, my child would have the food faster. It also was not made clear that I could actually order a children's meal, since there was no children's menu listed. Anyway we ordered and all of the food came out - it was all delicious (we collectively ordered a variety of options and everyone was pleased with their choices - the presentation, the taste). Overall we were all pleased with the service and food, and would go back in the future to try it again.
Very poor experience
Went to Maxwell’s for Sunday brunch. The menu has very few items that did not include eggs. There wre only 2 wait staff. I order chicken and waffles. There was a long wait and the food arrived cold.
Went to Maxwell's for brunch on Sunday. Made a reservation in advance, and the place was half empty, but they sat us right next to the bathroom anyway. Food was fine, but unmemorable. Had more of a sports bar feel than a nice brunch spot.
Our server was lovely, what a great spot!
Not terrible, but nothing special. Service was quite slow, but nice when we got it. Clearly understaffed. The place is family friendly which I think is its main appeal. Food was not bad but nothing to write home about, and overpriced for the portion size. Strangely the children's meal that we ordered was larger than the 2 adult sized portions we got, so we ended up eating more of our child's chicken fingers than anything else.
The walk thru Central Park with Maxwell's the destination was enchanting. The ambiance was lovely, comfortable and inviting . The service was slow and robotic. The food was atrocious!
