Good food and service. Hopefully, when you re-open the menu will still be as good as it has been in the past and the "trendy" stuff will not overtake the good food we have enjoyed for years.

Made a reservation for 7:30 on a Saturday night. Never been so we wanted to cover ourselves. Arrival- turns out reservation wasn't necessary. Service was spot on, Mai Tais and Savignon were perfect accompany to our delishous food. A bit pricey for drinks, a shared appetizer, 2 salads, and 2 entrees. Tab with tip at the end was $250!

Amazing! We went for our anniversary and they treated us like royalty. Food was out of this world especially the beet salad. And service was even better. Our waitress had the bartender make me a special drink and they were out of the wine we wanted so she got them to give us a better bottle for same price!

The food was tasty with a mix of comfort type food with creative twists. The flavoring was superb in all of our dishes. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful in explaining the dishes and their ingredients. The lamb dropped off the bone in the lamb shank. I had the crispy noodles which was the perfect combo of flavor, and texture. Crispiness on the outside and soft, warm noodles underneath with strongly flavored chorizo and garlic aioli.

I thought it was overpriced for what we got. My husband ordered a drink and was charged DOUBLE what he has paid in many other resteraunts.

As usual, the quality of the food and drink at Maxwells is outstanding.

Unfortunately, the service continues to degrade. Minimal dining room staffing means that we were left waiting to order our entrées. When food arrived, one entrée was incorrect. Requests to refill water went unfulfilled.

This restaurant used to be one of my favorites, and I'm chagrined by its decline.

Four of us dined here last night. The carpaccio appetizer, oysters, and prune appetizers were absolutely excellent. My mother's chicken marsala and husband's cod special - again, excellent. My daughter enjoyed her short rib ravioli. I ordered the lobster gnocchi in cognac cream sauce. The lobster was incredibly fishy. Disgusting!! I couldn't eat it. Our waitress was knowledgeable and friendly, and her attentiveness was wonderful. However, the wait between appetizers and entrees was excessive: more than 30 minutes.
Given the prices, and the ease of getting terrific lobster in greater Boston, no thanks. Never returning.

We were delighted and surprised by the quiet, romantic setting. The outside is deceiving-plain and not assuming, but the inside provides a lovely setting for a delicious meal. Excellent food that was unique and expertly made. Service was charming, efficient and kind. An overall wonderful experience.

Maxwells 148 is my husband's and my favorite restaurant. The food and the service are impeccable, and we love the crunchy noodles they serve in the bread basket! It's pretty far from where we live (in Acton) so we make excuses to get down to Natick once in a while. The food is always divine and they have an extensive and excellent list of wine and Scotch (and other beverages - but I go for the wine and my husband goes for the Scotch).

The food was absolutely delicious. I didn't give it a 10 because the gnocchi was actually too rich. Now I have learned that I prefer my gnocchi with a olive oil base. The scallop appetizer was outstanding.

We had been to Maxwells 148 with the original owners/chef. Great at first, then only ok. Had not returned for many years, but a friend told us to try again with new owners/chef. We went for a birthday dinner. The service is great, drinks very good, tuna tartare appetizer is awesome!
My husband ordered the Osso Bucco which was very tender, but not cut in the classic way and no gremolatta in the hollowed bone. I ordered the lobster gnocchi which was so rich it was hard to eat much of it (serving size huge!!!). It really needed acid to cut through the richness.
We would have been willing to give it another try, but the disappointing food combined with the very loud dining room will make us give Maxwells 148 a pass next time we go out for dinner.

This wasn't our first trip to Maxwell's but it was perfect for a last minute couples night out. The menu seems to be a little more casual than in the past but it was all delicious - appetizers, drinks, dinner and dessert.

The atmosphere was odd. The entryway feels more like a spa than a restaurant. I went on a Friday night and there were only 2 other tables with diners. Very quiet. Food was okay. I don't think I'll be going back.

Although tonight's meal was not quite as good as previous visits, it was still enjoyable. We shared a couple apps, one of which was a special ceviche, and it was fantastic. We each had a steak and shared a couple desserts as well. I will be back again when my schedule allows it. Our server was attentive and polite with a good personality, and GM Tyla was very gracious as well!

Do not be fooled by the facade. The restaurant is located in front of a non-descript strip mall. I entered with trepidation, but left totally satisfied. From the fig martini to the chocolate creme brulee, the quality and taste of the food was terrific. The service was attentive and unassuming.
We went on a Tuesday night and there was a Prix Fixe 3 course dinner for $29.99 that was an incredible deal. I will return!

We asked another couple to join us for a special occasion dinner. The ambience is great for a single couple, but just as great for two couples out together! We find that the evening's specials are always great offerings. But join the email list to get notice of them. And if you have your mind set on one, call ahead to reserve it. The specials can sell out quickly! And for dessert, I must recommend the baked apple with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce -- not on many menus and absolutely scrumptious here! Enjoy a special evening!

My husband and I love this restaurant. We have never been disappointed with the food. The stuffed figs appetizer is great. We have tried the specials, fish dishes and lamb and it has all been wonderful. The only downside is that it does not have a children's menu. So get a sitter and have a nice evening out. W will keep going back

We heard about Maxwell's from a friend and have been dying to try it. The food was amazing (I recommend the charcuterie platter, the lobster salad, and the osso bucco!) and our server, Jess, was fantastic. This is another spot you must check out!

This was our second visit to Maxwell ' s 148 and will probably be our last. I started with the beet salad which on the menu was suppose to contain goat cheese. If it was in there I saw very little evidence and the entire thing was extremely bland. The main course of black fig and bacon ravioli was flavorful but both the bacon and the pasta were very undercooked giving the entire dish a rubbery quality. The coconut panna cotta was also disappointing and lacking any noticeable coconut flavor. Our waiter was a complete space shot. Had to ask for our drinks 4 times. When he took our salad order he did not recognize the beet salad as a menu item and I had to point to it on the menu. He then took my dinner companions salad and turned to me and said "So, you didn't want a salad?" Same type of scenario occurred with dessert. Not at all what I expect from a $200 dinner.

We had a group of six dining socially and Maxwell's accommodated our group on. Thursday night even short staffed! We never noticed any glitches And the food is wonderful! Fresh seafood compares to any other high class downtown Boston restaurant. I have enjoyed the wine list for a number of years and there is always something special coming out of the kitchen.

Never displeased by Maxwell's 148.

Went to Maxwell's on a Saturday night. It had been about a year or so since we've been. It was busy and the noise level seemed higher than normal. The prices seem to have gone up too, unfortunately. I had a drink special of infused vodka and pineapple juice. It was good. We got the Evil Jungle Vegetables and the veggies and curry was very tasty. We also got a swordfish special and it was a bit overcooked and the potatoes were somewhat bland. That was unfortunate since I think the dish was just over $30. We wanted to be more wowed. The cappuccino was good, as was the coffee with cordials.

Have been going to Maxwells for a very long time and have always appreciated the strong attention to service. This seems to be compromised of late; nothing big but little things that add up, eg having to ask for the bread to be brought after our salads were delivered, sharing a salad and not being brought an extra plate. Would love to see the service brought back to the level it has been noted for (these are reflections based on multiple recent experiences, not just one visit). Other than this, the service is friendly and the food continues to be outstanding. This is a great restaurant and hope it continues to strive to be the best!

Four of us ate dinner here on a Saturday night. The service was very good but 3 out of the 4 of us were disappointed in the food. The best dish was the Chilean Sea Bass. The jambalaya was unexciting, the Osso Bucco was nothing special and the duck was somewhat dry.

Our party of four was looking for a place to eat at the last minute on a Saturday night. Maxwells 148 had a reservation open. What a great surprise! I have driven this stretch of Rt. 135 a hundred times and never noticed this place! It looks very unassuming from the outside, but when you enter you know you're in a high-end establishment. The wait staff was excellent. The food was amazing. We didn't feel rushed at the end of the meal and felt we could relax with our coffee and chat. We met the owner/chef at the end and found out Maxwells 148 has been here for ten years! It is a new favorite for us and we will return soon.

I have been dining here for years, and now that there is new ownership, the menu has increased and the restaurant seems much busier. All good. When my wife, myself and a good friend met for dinner, we were warmly greeted and promptly introduced by our waiter. He was very friendly and attentive. I told him I had a dairy allergy and could not have any milk, butter, cheese etc.
They served me a salad, entree and desert with either cheese, butter or milk. Really?

We discovered this place by accident once when we were looking for someplace to have dinner near a concert in Natick. We weren't looking for anything fancy, but were blown away by the great food and ambiance at Maxwell's 148. The chef came out to see how our meal was. Everything was heavenly, and they have a really impressive wine list and selection of single malt Scotch. Now we head back there on purpose whenever we're in need of a special place to eat.
