Max's Restaurant - Cuisine of the Philippines Ratings and Reviews
Had the dineout menu with my coworkers as it is their first time, lots of selection. Service was not good though, had to call for them every time. They didn't serve water while we waited and looked at the menu. They keep forgetting one person's dish so we would be waiting before we would eat. Not the greatest first impression for my coworkers.
4 of us tried Max for dinner and ate the dine out meal. At first, the waiter was attentive, but as it got busier we were hard pressed to get his attention. He did not check back for water or for a second beer that my companion was wanting. The appies were fried, tasteless pockets which could have come from M and M meat shop. My main course, peanut beef stew, was bland as well. Our vegetarian friend was only given one option for the main, sizzling tofu, which funny enough, tasted better than our meat dishes. But no fresh veggies with the tofu, just tofu.
We will not recommend this restaurant to other friends.
When we arrive, they said there was no reservation for 12 people under my name. But they were quick to accommodate us. So it was fine. Staff were very friendly and quick. They also sang happy birthday to my aunt which was great and had a complimentary ice too..
since I reserved thru opentable, we were given a seat right away. There's only few servers for a lot of customers who are dining in. My server is a nice guy. The only thing is if I have to ask for something, he is always in a hurry not even finishing what I'm saying. I do understand that we are not the only table that he handles but to the management, please hire more servers so you can serve your customers better. When I paid for my bill and given him 15% tip, he was nowhere to be seen when I have to ask for one last thing. Kinda frustrating since we have to come all the way from Seattle just to eat here.
Service was terrible. Glasses of water came after we ordered food. Our noodles came way before the rest of the dishes that we ordered and the last dish came a good 20 minutes after the first entree arrived, which was the noodles. We couldn't enjoy all the various dishes at the same time. Dessert was also slow and our request for the bill took a long time also. Not to mention we had to ask for take out containers 3 times before we finally got some. We fully understand servers can be busy during peak times but the time when we ordered dessert, requested containers and our BILL the restaurant was only 1/3rd capacity.
We have eaten at this restaurant a few times and every time the servers were very friendly and made us and other guests feel welcome, even if we had a coupon with us. This time was no different. Our friendly server recommended a couple of dishes and even apologized when the food took a bit longer to come out than she had expected. The dishes - milkfish sisig, tofu and asparagus, and crispy pata - were delicious as usual. The crispy pata was especially mouth-watering, even though it was bad for our waistlines! We'll probably eat there again when we're in the neighborhood.
We ordered the famous fried chicken, crab fried rice and a pork belly sisig plate. The fried chicken and sisig were very dry and the rice was greasy. The restaurant was understaffed that night and drinks and orders took a long time. Also, don't bother trying to use your Open table cheque here as they have no idea what to do with it. I came with my friend hoping to use my $26 cheque and then split the cost. Instead, they took forever trying to figure out if they can accept my cheque, and then we got fed up waiting and went to pay without it. Then after they split the bill for us, the manager decides to come back and then tell us they'll accept the cheque. Not worth the hassle.
I have been bringing my family here since they opened and the staff and the food had been great so far. Before the Christmas break, I decided to book a table for 8 for me and my co-workers. Everyone's orders came in on time, except for mine and one of my staff. We both ordered Inasal Chicken, as it look juicy and delicious on a poster prominently posted close to our dining area. It took them 45 MINUTES to deliver our Inasal Chicken!!!! The waiter just dismissed our complaint by saying "well we had to grill the chicken and that's why it takes longer"
Since I recognize the waiter from previous visits and I'm the one that speaks Tagalog, I said to the waiter discreetly perhaps you should give my friend, never mind me a break in the form of a discount, as I was planning to bring the same group back for more lunch trips. He said he couldn't. What a disappointment!
I always get the pancit palabok with halo halo and it's amazing! The food is amazing but the service is okay. We put our hand up to get the attention of the workers and they would look but not come over and it happened three times when I went there last week.
We arrived tad early for 6:15 pm reservation but ushered immediately to our table and given a menu.
The signature dish which is Max's Fried Chicken and Crispy Pata are delicious...I would recommend to my friends to come and try this authentic Filipino restaurant, a Vancouver neighborhood gem.
Hi.I love your food in your restaurant. I like the ambiance too. I dont mind the noise...its normal specially in the busy weekends.
The only thing I observed was some of your service crew does not pay attention to customer...some of them is blankly walking...look tired and dont smile much...I guess they are tired...its a busy day when I came...
Good service is always on top of a food business....food is the 2nd priority in my belief...cuz people enjoy eating if good service is given to a customer no matter what. AlwAys be polite and courteous. Filipinos are known for being hospital and smile alot even problems come to life.
we had a group of 20 people at Max, Vancouver British Columbia. Pilipino dishes were reasonable and wine list is also good. However, our caucasian guest are expecting an offering of tropical fruits at the very least or authentic Pilipino desert. We asked for bibingka or biko but there was none. We were offered halo-halo, ube in some whitish gelatin, and ice cream(we asked for mango flavor). After a big dinner of lechon, crispy pata, kare-kare and other fatty pilipino delicacy, it will be nice to wash it up with a hot batangas coffee or any herbal tea while munching on some fresh slices of perhaps pineapple, watermelon, or even cantaloupe. kung may dalandan mas magaling, pangalis ng umay.
We are kind of frustrated with the food. We ordered the set order C, The Kare-Kare is not good at all. The pancit noodle is not cooked properly. We only got a small piece of Lechon Kawali for 5 people supposedly. The soup doesn't match on our food. The fried Chicken that we are all looking forward to, is not the same as you first open. It lack of taste or something. The service is very good though. Our waiter, even though looks so exhausted, still manage to smile and gave us a good service. The dessert are all good. We got Halo-Halo and Buko Pandan. Just the right sweetness.
It's my family's first time to dine in and it was a very pleasant experience. I booked our reservation a day ahead tru online, went to the resto and we are accomodated immediately. Our server if i can remember correctly, his name is Loevelle?. He was very attentive, friendly and he knows what he's saying when it comes to food suggestions/recommendations. We are celebrating a special occasion that day and it was awesome. Thanks!
If you are craving for pinoy food this is the place to be! Be patient to line up because there's always a long wait especially on the weekends. That's why i'm thankful for opentable.com i was able to reserve online for our lunch no need to wait that long..service was good, reasonable price and the food was awesome.. craving satisfied..Sarap to the bones!
The fried chicken served at this Max's was every bit as tasty as I remembered from my childhood (I grew up within walking distance of the original Max's Restaurant in Quezon City), and the additional dishes I tried (sisig and crispy pata) were delicious as well. The shaved ice dessert (halo-halo, another childhood favourite) was a great way to end the meal. Friendly, attentive service made our visit memorable. The restaurant was lively, but not unpleasantly so. For expatriate Filipinos, this dining experience is truly a taste of home.
We celebrated mom"s 81st and brother"s 50th bday there. To their surprise, they didn't expect that Filipino food tasted that good, as they are more on Canadian & Italian foods. I was very happy that they were pleased with the experienced. The food tasted so good, it was very well presented, the server was very nice and the service was excellent. This resto is labelled as one of the Best & Must try in town. Kudos to all the staff !!!! Perfect example of what a good customer service should be.
