Filipino
In 1945, after World War II, Maximo Gimenez, a Stanford-educated teacher, befriended American troops stationed at Quezon City, Philippines. A few of the soldiers would come to his house for a drink or two. Eventually they insisted that they pay for their meals. It was then that Maximo decided to open a cafe that served chicken, steak and drinks. To help him with the cafe, his wife Mercedes, and his sister-in-law Felipe, joined him there together with her niece Ruby, who managed the kitchen with her husband, Claro. It was Ruby who created a special recipe for chicken, which was so delicious, tender, juicy and crispy that the G.I.s coming back for more. Soon enough, it became a legend with the Filipino public too. Encouraged by her mother to expand the menu and serve more Filipino food, Ruby set up a restaurant along Roxas Boulevard in the Baclaran district of Paranaque. It was decided that the restaurant would be named “Max’s”, which was Maximo’s nickname.

Came in after a very long time. They have renovated the place and it Is so much brighter and spacious! Ordered their famous fried chicken and it delivered! Of course halo-halo for dessert is a must. Our daughter wanted fried chicken for her bday- so this is the best choice. They gave her a nice treat- a scoop of coconut ice cream with a candle and they sang her a bday song complete with an “Instagram “ board for picture taking! Service is prompt and delivered with a smile.

Very accommodating. Had to change reservation from 10 people to 14, and they did so willingly.

My experience was great except for no one knew how to find my reservations. Luckily it wasn’t too busy and I was able to get a table right away.

I got to the restaurant at the time of my reservation and was told they didn't take reservations, so I had to wait like everyone else. I told them i made it on OpenTable, and they had no idea what I was talking about. Other than that our experience was decent.

Great ambiance, good food except for the sisig, was not very impressed with it. But the crisp pata was the best I’ve tasted so far! And the sinigang Bantus belly was also good!!
Only complain is parking, very limited space and why do we have to pay for parking? It should be free since we are eating at the restaurant! Doesn’t make sense to me.

I made a reservation for last night Nov 19 and after driving 2 hours through rush hour traffic I found they were closed. Why was I allowed to make a reservation?? Such a disappointment and so aggravated

Unfortunately, Max's is being renovated which detracts from the ambience. But when it's done, the place will be great. Decent number of parking spots. Two of us had no trouble on a Thursday evening at 6:30. When we left around 7:45, the place was packed to capacity with people waiting. Everyone except us seemed to be of Pinoy heritage. We tried a variety of dishes including Nilagang Baka, Garlic Rice, a curry with beef and peanut, a fried fish, and steamed roll appetizers (sorry I don't have a menu handy), and a tapioca drink. I liked the Nilagang Baka best.

Our server was great! But another showed horrible customer service. I’ve been loyal to this restaurant for more than a decade and to see this was very disappointing to say the least.

Came from the east coast to visit family. It is a fun place for a get together. The wait staff was very attentive to our dietary needs and so very friendly and nice. The food was great although I wouldn’t consider it “healthy.” It was the first time trying Ube ice cream and it was AMAZING! Will definitely go back next visit.

They had a construction going on inside the restaurant. I asked what the smell was and they said it’s the wood! There was total lack of ambience as the place was cramped and it smelled like old wood. Only the fried chicken was good but all the other dishes we ordered were not delicious: adobong manok , tilapia with Laing, daing sisig, chopsuey. We had guests from NY and we all agreed that Gerry’s Grill overall was much better. Gerry’s Grill had more choices and far better ambiance.

The food wasn't bad. Only that our server forgot to put in an order- crispy pata.. something that was discussed with him and he even gave a suggestion on what size we should get. He brought in the rest of the order sans the pata. When asked he said it's coming up. Then he came back and said it'll be another 15 minutes. Meanwhile, we're digging in because we were starving. Another 10 minutes later, we're all almost done to the point of asking them to just cancel it- he brings it in. When we cut it apart, it was cold to the touch in the middle. It was so so disappointing.

I was so disappointed dining at Msx'd restaurant because the food tasted like water and they did not have any perks of what a Filipino foods are. My home cook Pinoy foods are way better than Max's. This is a great disappointment and a total waste of my $30. That Pinoy spaghetti did not taste as such. Jolllibe’s spaghetti is excellent !

We made the reservation for Friday through OpenTable. However, when we arrived, the person said they don't take reservation on Friday night so I was a little surprised. He was still able to seat us immediately though. There might be some miscommunication between the app and the restaurant that needs to be corrected.

The food was very good as always, the best crispy pata and Philippine-style fried chicken!. Our family's favorites!
We got seated right away because we had a reservation thru Open Table. The service was pretty good too.
This is the place to go for excellent Philippine cuisine!

I love the restaurant. It feels like home. It feels like I'm in the Philippines. My family and my boyfriend love everything here. The food is perfect, especially I can eat my favorite sizzling sisig. Kare kare, lechon, chicken and shanghai are the best also. We love the Halo halo and buko pandan. Will definitely come back here again.

My friends said it was better than they expected. For most of them, it was their first time to have Filipino food.
Our server, Luis, was really great. He was very helpful and friendly. His customer service was excellent.
Our original booking was at 6:30 pm but had no problem moving it to 7:00 pm when we got to the restaurant. The Open Table did not have the 7:00 pm option.
The people at the reception may need to be more welcoming and smiling.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience for me and my friends.

We had a fun time plus the great food being served. However, the only thing was that there's this kid crying out loud beside our table and it's annoying!

The next time we come here, we'll just sit far from children especially really young ones.

Kudos to John the waiter. Exceptional attitude towards patrons. Very friendly, always smiling and very accomodating ( had him take our pictures multiple times). He even remembered us from our highschool GTG last year.

Bill was confusing regarding the gratuity showing up twice.

Service was very slow and had to remind server many times on the request made. We were a group of seven and it overwhelmed the server. Other servers when asked would say they were not assigned to our table.
