A lovely Mother's Day breakfast for my mom & me. Service was quick& with a smile. Food was yummy. We got there at 10am and got seated iin the bar section which was nice and quiet. Mom loved her omelette, I had the lox & bagel.

Dark and dingy experience due to the outdoor seating the colors are all very strange. It used to be a wonderful place, but not so much. I don’t plan to return.

I haven’t been to Max’s in years but had to take someone to the airport and thought this would be a perfect place. Upon entering, I noticed there weren’t that many people in there on a Sunday around noon & there was an unpleasant smell to the restaurant. When we sat down at our table, the menus were sticky. I can’t stand that. It makes me feel like the place is unclean. I ordered a 1/2 pastrami sandwich and green salad. The salad was overdressed and had so many different things in it, I didn’t really like it. The sandwich is what I always remember about Max’s; delicious pastrami w/lots of flavor. This was pretty bland. My guests ordered sandwiches as well and it was OK, nothing special. Very disappointing.

The Pastrami sandwich’s were old meat, dried out and terrible, I should have said something, but if that’s on your menu, you better do it right !!! However the Matzah Ball soup was delicious! Restaurants have to stop feeding America with old food, throw it away and give me what I paid for !!!!

Excellent food as always; fast, courteous service! In meeting fellow foodies here (the last Max’s standing), we all agreed we’ve never had a bad meal here. Happy to report the portions & recipes are still filling & delicious! From the matzo ball soup, reuben, fries, & spicy bloody mary to the carrot cake (& ultimate chocolate cake-to-go for my mom who thinks it’s the best on the planet), the food is still NYC deli-cious California-style. The core staff is the from the closed Redwood City restaurant with decades of experience, menu knowledge and can help you customize your order if you’re new to Max’s. Lots of regulars here - I visit monthly when flying back from NYC. Only wish I could come for music nights or nosh here longer. See you at Max’s next month ;-)
