Max's Grille - Boca Raton Ratings and Reviews
I always try to find restaurants serving fresh fish and I am frequently disappointed, but I ordered the swordfish and it was perfect: Clearly very fresh, not frozen, cooked medium as I requested and nicely grilled with a great flavor. I can honestly say that this is exceptional for Boca Raton, where much of the fish is previously frozen, processed or just poorly handled by local restaurants. A good, fresh piece of fish does not need an almond crust or panko coating or a heavy sauce - these are often used to cover up poor quality fish. On this night at Max's I was very pleased with the swordfish. Very pleased.
When we arrived we asked the waiter for 2 separate checks...never happened! I ordered Max’s chopped salad(delicious) with an add-on of grilled shrimp...over cooked and microscopic! My friend ordered salad over grilled chicken (leather-like and inedible). The servers, though pleasant, had to be reminded to bring the requested black napkins and artificial sweeteners. We longed for the good old days when Max’s Grille was top notch!
It’s only good for the scene. We waited 20mins for our drink order to be taken. We even thought of just walking away and going to Villagio next door. Entrees before the apps seems like an Applbees mistake and there’s no way our food was remade. Our m entrees came out luke warm service was blah. I’m fine with mediocre service for a good scene but prices should reflect that.
Food was good, the ambiance is okay. We’re been there few times and now and everyone we go there the place doesn’t feel very cozy for some reason, maybe it’s the staff trying to rush you trough dinner to free the table for the next people. Staff is not very friendly, like little robots running around not trying to be friendly. Dinner for two $180 I would expect for the manager to come around and ask about our experience.
I used to go to Max's Grille frequently, and then their food became unimpressive (to say the least). I decided to try it again and was pleasantly surprised! It was good for dinner on all counts, and had some new menu options. The food was pretty highly seasoned. My date had a Thai Salad and found it too spicy for his taste. My Steak Roja was delicious, but then, I like spicy.
You can't beat it for convenience if you're going to Boca Festival or any event at the Amphitheater. I will return there.
A few things...We ordered a nice bottle of wine ($115) and the waiter did not pour ANY of our glasses for us, which we receive this service in any other place at this level. Also, the filet mignon was ordered rare plus and came out charred, pretty much burnt. Other than that, overall experience was good.
Fantastic server Will. Kind, attentive, quick.
They honored my request for special soft shell crab sautéed instead of fried. Fantastic. Had a great salad
My friend had delicious pork belly eggs Benedict. Endless drinks fun but quit at 2.
Berry creme pie delicious
Great food as usual. Customer for 15 years
The table was ready when we arrived. Our friends meeting us ran a few minutes late and we sat and had drinks and they held the table which was nice. We sat and had the shrimp cocktail appetizer which was fresh and good sized shrimp. The girls had specialized salads and I had the trout and my friend the burger. All the food was delivered on time together and was very good. Service maintained all drinks and the evening was very pleasant. I'll return their soon
