About Max Lager's Wood-Fired Grill & Brewery

Max Lager's was one of the first restaurants to bring the fresh and natural wood-fired menu concept to Atlanta. The art of cooking with wood enhances the Max Lager's experience with bold flavors simply not found with alternative cooking methods. We feel that the investment made in the wood-fired grill is an investment that pays great dividends to our guests.

All Max Lager's menu items are prepared daily from scratch. Wood-fired steaks, burgers, seafood, ribs, and pizza are Max Lager's signature items. An inspired selection of entrée salads and pastas add variety to the American menu.

My daughter and her husband joined my wife and I for a dinner when they traveled to Atlanta for business. We had a reservation and though we were stuck in traffic for about 15 minutes beyond our scheduled reservation, the staff ensured we were seated immediately upon arrival. Server was attentive, helpful with ordering some of their locally brewed beers, and presented information regarding menu items, professionally and courteously. We had plenty of time to catch up with our family and the server checked in with us a couple of times while the meal was prepared. The food was presented as we ordered it: two steaks, one medium rare and the other medium; the other two meals were precisely as expected. Food arrived hot and tasted extremely flavorful. The dinner was an exceptionally pleasant experience and we will return whenever we go into the city for special events. We get to see pur family only a couple of tiems per year and this event was completely enjoyable for us all.

Our group of six was seated on time - our reservation was for 18:30 on a Friday - and server took drink and food order quickly. Beer selection good. Everyone satisfied with food. We'd use Max Lagers again for a group business outing.

This was a great place for our research center to get together for dinner while at a conference. The noise wasn't too bad, so conversation was possible. From my own entrée and what I could glean from others, the food was excellent. The only drawback is that our rather large party had to be split across two tables instead of one.

We had a reservation for 3 people and they sat us at a big round table that seats 6. The seating was awkward. I really don't know why they didn't 'reserve' a smaller table.

Drinks were good. Meals were ok. My SO's fries were hard as rocks.

We were looking for a sports bar atmosphere and this was a huge miss. We were seated downstairs but away from bar area. Seemed like was gonna be just a meal but we heard there was a bar upstairs with limited menu but outdoor seating and more tvs. Outdoor seating ice but no tvs outside so we elected inside with tvs. Service was bad. Waiters and bartender not engaged but we were there early. I think their preference is the late night young crowd and potential big tippers. We had firecracker wings and burger. Food excellent although medium well burger was closer to rare. I think this place just not what we were seeking.

The fish and chips were fair. The mashed potatoes were very good but my pork chop was extreme undercooked. Service/ our server/ waiter was great. If looking to try local, different types of beer, this may be a good choice but be careful what you order. Service is outstanding!

Cool industrial vibe. Best burger I’ve had in a long time. My husband and daughter got the brisket sandwich and raved. The IMOS lager is delicious. Server was efficient and so lovely. Will be back.

This was our first experience here and everything was absolutely amazing. The entire staff was super friendly and the food came out so quickly. Everything that was ordered was cooked to perfection and tasted great. Our server Vince was very knowledgeable about the food and the company and very attentive and prompt with taking care of us. We will definitely be back.

Found this place based on Yelp reviews. Tested our waiter, Scott, with best of intentions. Told him about our beer preferences and asked him to bring his recommendation. He was spot on. Since he did so well there we also asked for his recommendations for dinner entrees. My husband and I are adventurous and open to suggestions. My husband had the salmon with the recommended shrimp addition and broccoli replacement for the grits. Delicious. I had the Manhattan steak. Scott didn't ask how I wanted it done, on purpose given our earlier discussions. It came out a perfect medium-rare. Perfect tenderness and flavor. To end the evening we asked for his dessert recommendation and ended with the fried cheesecake. Oh my!!! This was a wonderful evening. We love when the staff knows their menu.

Scott even offered to meet out friends that were joining us out front to direct them to the valet parking. Excellent service and delicious food!

Only, only negative was the manager on staff that evening dissing Scott for not having new forks available for our dessert after yet we complimented Scott's service to him. What???! Manager had an issue not our server. Thank you Scott for a wonderful evening. That manger should have recognized a compliment and been more gracious... Shame on him.

Stumbled on this place while in town for a convention. Really nice menu variety, great variety of craft beers, decent wine list & they brew their own Root Beer (my weakness). Food we had was great and the server was attentive, made great suggestions and made sure we had everything we needed.

The menu had a good variety; our party of 6 tried 5 different offerings & all were pleased. Personally, I loved the San Francisco salad that was bursting with favor. Our server, Donte' (not positive of name) was warm, professional, attentive, & our food came out quickly! We would return!

The service was awful. Granted, we went during Dragon Con, so you have to grade on a curve and be patient, but it was still pretty awful. Our second round of drinks never came (despite asking about them twice, even to the manager who stopped by our table to see if we needed anything else with our entrees). And then they still tried to charge us for said drinks, so we had to remind the server to take them off our bill (it was clearly a mistake, but really not the kind of mistake that needed to happen at that point.) The wall of windows in their restaurant faces west, so you get the setting sun in your eyes for your entire dinner, too.
The food was good, though, so they get points for that.

We decided to eat here for an early dinner while attending Dragoncon. We expected the place to be really busy but to our surprise it was mostly empty when we were there. So, with that should have come great service. To our disappointment the service was very lacking. 3 people in our party had to change their drink order 3 times because apparently they were out of alot of items, to include regular coke products. After that was settled another person in our party got a totally different meal than what she ordered. We told the server that it was wrong and they took it back to the kitchen, never asking what the order was supposed to be in order to correct it. Instead, a different server returned with the exact same item and placed it in front of her and walked off. We were all shocked. A 4th person also recieved the wrong order and it was a struggle to get it all correct. He finally got his meal as the whole table finished eating. We did speak with management and got some compensation, however, even though what food/drinks they had was good, the whole experience was stressful and not what we hoped for. We will not be back to eat there for dragoncon and will not recommend it to any of our friends.

Despite other occasions where we enjoyed dining here, this visit was a disaster and we won't be back. The conditions were unsanitary. Water was dripping from unknown overhead piping onto one of our guests, there was dirt in the water glasses and on the silverware, and the waitress put in our order incorrectly, at which point they refused to correct the erroneous side items.

The food was unbelievable good. Me and my wife were on vacation, decided to stay in Atlanta for the night. We found this place online and decided it would be great to try, since I'm a big beer drinker. The beer was okay but the food was amazing. We will definitely be back. The only down side to our experiences there was the service was a little slow but understandable since we did arrive later in the evening and it was a week night.

The noise level was a bit high which made it hard to hear conversations, the food was over priced for the quality(the barbecue sause on the ribs was burned and one steak was over cooked and had to be returned)The server, Brandon, was exceptional and quick to respond to our requests. The porkchop dish was excellent.
