About Max Lager's Wood-Fired Grill & Brewery
Max Lager's was one of the first restaurants to bring the fresh and natural wood-fired menu concept to Atlanta. The art of cooking with wood enhances the Max Lager's experience with bold flavors simply not found with alternative cooking methods. We feel that the investment made in the wood-fired grill is an investment that pays great dividends to our guests.
All Max Lager's menu items are prepared daily from scratch. Wood-fired steaks, burgers, seafood, ribs, and pizza are Max Lager's signature items. An inspired selection of entrée salads and pastas add variety to the American menu.

Max Lager's Wood-Fired Grill & Brewery Ratings and Reviews
was 10 minutes early for reservation. Informed host/manager it appeared, that I was there. He said he would be with me in a few minutes. He was very unfriendly and curt.
I asked if we waited at upstairs bar would they come get us, the answer was 'no, just come back when you're done'.
So I did.... Was seated in the loudest area of the restaurant by the bar while some big football game was going on.
Server was very nice and accommodating however food was mediocre at best.
Probably would not return.
I've been here several times when in town on business. The atmosphere is lively and can be kind of loud at times. We happened to get seated next to a speaker this time and we could barely hear each other. We asked the waiter if the music could be turned down a bit and he said no problem. Turns out the speakers have individual volume controls. The food, service and beverages are alway consistent. I have noticed that the menu does not vary much. The plus of that is, you will always find your favorite dish on the menu. The down side is there is rarely anything new to try.
Ordered a wedge salad and a steak.
Wife got a pizza.
Pizza came out with a burger, sent it back... never got a salad
Sent the same thing out again, this time kept the pizza send back same burger.
Wife half through pizza and salad comes out.
20, yes 20 minutes later I got my steak. It was a good steak but not worth the aggravation.
They did comp the steak and salad but meal was a complete disaster.
Had the pork chop and the bbq ribs. Server didn’t ask how to cook pork chop (we wanted med rare) but it arrived in relatively good shape. A little over medium rare. The bbq ribs were very dry and no additional sauce offered. Had them in the past and they were very moist. This time a little dry.
This has been a favorite of ours for many years—maybe the kitchen was having a bad day.
Only stopped in for appetizers and a beer but they were very good. Saved room for the seasonal peach cobbler. In Georgia, had to. It was sooo good. Too bad it’s not a menu option. Advice: leave room for dessert because they know what they’re doing. PS. Enjoyed both the 320 and Four Winds brews.
This place was good...not great. They do have their own beers and the ambience is great. I thought the food was a bit overpriced. Our server forgot something on three of our four orders and we asked for oranges with our beers and they never came. I wouldn’t say things were terrible. What I would say is if you are going to this place for great food and service you may want to pick somewhere else. If you are going for some local brewed beers and some good food along with it, give it a try.
The pork chop and mashed potatoes were transcending, but I did not care for the collared greens. However, I live in North Dakota and am not accustomed to collared greens, so I’m sure they were very good by southern standards. The beer I had was tasty and very well priced, but wish there were less hoppy options. A 25 IBU is aboutnad much as I can do. Even the He beer was a 29 I still enjoyed it.
As I mentioned in the request to respond to our no show. I made the reservation while standing in the Restaurant for 945PM on 12-2-17 and was told by the person checking reservations that it didn't matter what Open Table said they could not honor the reservation because they had too many people left to seat and they were closing soon so I left and went somewhere else. Reservations should not be accepted by Open Table if they cannot be honored by the merchant. I'm new with Open Table and guess I didnt't understand how things work.
This experience was subpar to previous experiences. My order was mixed up with another member of our table. The server didn’t take charge of correcting the situation. My lunch was then delivered later to the table than the other guests. Also there were multiple people in our party who didn’t get drink refills. The server was nice but could do a better job at ensuring drinks are refilled for all guests in a timely manner and that the correct food is given to the correct guests.
My daughter and her husband joined my wife and I for a dinner when they traveled to Atlanta for business. We had a reservation and though we were stuck in traffic for about 15 minutes beyond our scheduled reservation, the staff ensured we were seated immediately upon arrival. Server was attentive, helpful with ordering some of their locally brewed beers, and presented information regarding menu items, professionally and courteously. We had plenty of time to catch up with our family and the server checked in with us a couple of times while the meal was prepared. The food was presented as we ordered it: two steaks, one medium rare and the other medium; the other two meals were precisely as expected. Food arrived hot and tasted extremely flavorful. The dinner was an exceptionally pleasant experience and we will return whenever we go into the city for special events. We get to see pur family only a couple of tiems per year and this event was completely enjoyable for us all.
This was a great place for our research center to get together for dinner while at a conference. The noise wasn't too bad, so conversation was possible. From my own entrée and what I could glean from others, the food was excellent. The only drawback is that our rather large party had to be split across two tables instead of one.
We were looking for a sports bar atmosphere and this was a huge miss. We were seated downstairs but away from bar area. Seemed like was gonna be just a meal but we heard there was a bar upstairs with limited menu but outdoor seating and more tvs. Outdoor seating ice but no tvs outside so we elected inside with tvs. Service was bad. Waiters and bartender not engaged but we were there early. I think their preference is the late night young crowd and potential big tippers. We had firecracker wings and burger. Food excellent although medium well burger was closer to rare. I think this place just not what we were seeking.
The fish and chips were fair. The mashed potatoes were very good but my pork chop was extreme undercooked. Service/ our server/ waiter was great. If looking to try local, different types of beer, this may be a good choice but be careful what you order. Service is outstanding!
