About Max Lager's Wood-Fired Grill & Brewery
Max Lager's was one of the first restaurants to bring the fresh and natural wood-fired menu concept to Atlanta. The art of cooking with wood enhances the Max Lager's experience with bold flavors simply not found with alternative cooking methods. We feel that the investment made in the wood-fired grill is an investment that pays great dividends to our guests.
All Max Lager's menu items are prepared daily from scratch. Wood-fired steaks, burgers, seafood, ribs, and pizza are Max Lager's signature items. An inspired selection of entrée salads and pastas add variety to the American menu.

Max Lager's Wood-Fired Grill & Brewery Ratings and Reviews
As I mentioned in the request to respond to our no show. I made the reservation while standing in the Restaurant for 945PM on 12-2-17 and was told by the person checking reservations that it didn't matter what Open Table said they could not honor the reservation because they had too many people left to seat and they were closing soon so I left and went somewhere else. Reservations should not be accepted by Open Table if they cannot be honored by the merchant. I'm new with Open Table and guess I didnt't understand how things work.
This experience was subpar to previous experiences. My order was mixed up with another member of our table. The server didn’t take charge of correcting the situation. My lunch was then delivered later to the table than the other guests. Also there were multiple people in our party who didn’t get drink refills. The server was nice but could do a better job at ensuring drinks are refilled for all guests in a timely manner and that the correct food is given to the correct guests.
My daughter and her husband joined my wife and I for a dinner when they traveled to Atlanta for business. We had a reservation and though we were stuck in traffic for about 15 minutes beyond our scheduled reservation, the staff ensured we were seated immediately upon arrival. Server was attentive, helpful with ordering some of their locally brewed beers, and presented information regarding menu items, professionally and courteously. We had plenty of time to catch up with our family and the server checked in with us a couple of times while the meal was prepared. The food was presented as we ordered it: two steaks, one medium rare and the other medium; the other two meals were precisely as expected. Food arrived hot and tasted extremely flavorful. The dinner was an exceptionally pleasant experience and we will return whenever we go into the city for special events. We get to see pur family only a couple of tiems per year and this event was completely enjoyable for us all.
This was a great place for our research center to get together for dinner while at a conference. The noise wasn't too bad, so conversation was possible. From my own entrée and what I could glean from others, the food was excellent. The only drawback is that our rather large party had to be split across two tables instead of one.
We were looking for a sports bar atmosphere and this was a huge miss. We were seated downstairs but away from bar area. Seemed like was gonna be just a meal but we heard there was a bar upstairs with limited menu but outdoor seating and more tvs. Outdoor seating ice but no tvs outside so we elected inside with tvs. Service was bad. Waiters and bartender not engaged but we were there early. I think their preference is the late night young crowd and potential big tippers. We had firecracker wings and burger. Food excellent although medium well burger was closer to rare. I think this place just not what we were seeking.
The fish and chips were fair. The mashed potatoes were very good but my pork chop was extreme undercooked. Service/ our server/ waiter was great. If looking to try local, different types of beer, this may be a good choice but be careful what you order. Service is outstanding!
This was our first experience here and everything was absolutely amazing. The entire staff was super friendly and the food came out so quickly. Everything that was ordered was cooked to perfection and tasted great. Our server Vince was very knowledgeable about the food and the company and very attentive and prompt with taking care of us. We will definitely be back.
Found this place based on Yelp reviews. Tested our waiter, Scott, with best of intentions. Told him about our beer preferences and asked him to bring his recommendation. He was spot on. Since he did so well there we also asked for his recommendations for dinner entrees. My husband and I are adventurous and open to suggestions. My husband had the salmon with the recommended shrimp addition and broccoli replacement for the grits. Delicious. I had the Manhattan steak. Scott didn't ask how I wanted it done, on purpose given our earlier discussions. It came out a perfect medium-rare. Perfect tenderness and flavor. To end the evening we asked for his dessert recommendation and ended with the fried cheesecake. Oh my!!! This was a wonderful evening. We love when the staff knows their menu.
Scott even offered to meet out friends that were joining us out front to direct them to the valet parking. Excellent service and delicious food!
Only, only negative was the manager on staff that evening dissing Scott for not having new forks available for our dessert after yet we complimented Scott's service to him. What???! Manager had an issue not our server. Thank you Scott for a wonderful evening. That manger should have recognized a compliment and been more gracious... Shame on him.
Stumbled on this place while in town for a convention. Really nice menu variety, great variety of craft beers, decent wine list & they brew their own Root Beer (my weakness). Food we had was great and the server was attentive, made great suggestions and made sure we had everything we needed.
The menu had a good variety; our party of 6 tried 5 different offerings & all were pleased. Personally, I loved the San Francisco salad that was bursting with favor. Our server, Donte' (not positive of name) was warm, professional, attentive, & our food came out quickly! We would return!
The service was awful. Granted, we went during Dragon Con, so you have to grade on a curve and be patient, but it was still pretty awful. Our second round of drinks never came (despite asking about them twice, even to the manager who stopped by our table to see if we needed anything else with our entrees). And then they still tried to charge us for said drinks, so we had to remind the server to take them off our bill (it was clearly a mistake, but really not the kind of mistake that needed to happen at that point.) The wall of windows in their restaurant faces west, so you get the setting sun in your eyes for your entire dinner, too.
The food was good, though, so they get points for that.
We decided to eat here for an early dinner while attending Dragoncon. We expected the place to be really busy but to our surprise it was mostly empty when we were there. So, with that should have come great service. To our disappointment the service was very lacking. 3 people in our party had to change their drink order 3 times because apparently they were out of alot of items, to include regular coke products. After that was settled another person in our party got a totally different meal than what she ordered. We told the server that it was wrong and they took it back to the kitchen, never asking what the order was supposed to be in order to correct it. Instead, a different server returned with the exact same item and placed it in front of her and walked off. We were all shocked. A 4th person also recieved the wrong order and it was a struggle to get it all correct. He finally got his meal as the whole table finished eating. We did speak with management and got some compensation, however, even though what food/drinks they had was good, the whole experience was stressful and not what we hoped for. We will not be back to eat there for dragoncon and will not recommend it to any of our friends.
My fiancé and I were in Atlanta when he proposed. We went here the evening of to celebrate and it was wonderful! The food quality and portion sizes were excellent along with the service! I would highly recommend this restaurant because it is worth the money spent!
