Max Brenner - Philadelphia Ratings and Reviews
If you're at all early for your reservation time, don't even bother going in. They will ignore you until the exact time of your reservation. They brought my husband's milkshake with my coffee, and then took another 20 minutes to bring my mediocre sundae. Numerous tables set empty while people waited at the front and servers had time to chat and dance. What a disappointing birthday outing. :-(
We had reservations at 830 and were seated in a timely manner; however, it was extremely loud and there was more whipped cream on our dessert than there was cake. The cake was ok, but I'm not sure where the ganache was. We've been here before but were very disappointed this time.
Let me start by saying the service was not a problem. The staff was friendly and professional. However, the food was nothing to write home about. The fries that came with my burger were hard and burnt. The burger itself was okay as was the dessert. Still, for what I spent on the food alone "okay" was a little disappointing. Even if the food had not been a problem, the customers are so tightly packed that it felt like everyone was on top of each other.
We ordered two burgers. My wife ordered a plain hamburger. She told them she just wanted a plain burger but they put onions on it. Either the waitress did not write it down or the kitchen staff screwed up. Also, when I went to the bathroom, it was very messy. I mentioned this to the, wait staff upon leaving.
Max's is a very good establishment for a variety of food and drink. If you like food, drink and deserts that go with chocolate then you will really enjoy this place. If you have never been there it is worth a visit. Not high end but not a bar scene either. Enjoy!
Food is good, but completely overpriced. It is a novelty restaurant, good for families. Tables are close together. The bathrooms are terrible; two single unisex rooms. Always a line. There is a lot going on in a very small, cramped space. Take the kids for a special treat, they’ll love it. Bring your credit card.
Amazing experience! I made a reservation for six and at the last minute the manager approved my extra guest for a party of eight. Once we arrived, they took very good care of us. The waitress made wonderful suggestions such as the cheesesteak waffle sandwich and the fried chicken mac and cheese which we all loved! We ended our evening of course with the waffle celebration which was delicious as well. Thank you Max Brenner for a wonderful experience! I look forward to dining with you again.
For lunch today, had 11 of my closest friends, (that I just met) for brunch/lunch
from a Friends group in center city
I was the only one who had been here many times & knew it would be fun for the first timers & I was right.
I memorized the menu .. usually wind up w/the pizza that is better than any pizza place in my neighborhood.
One lady had a chocolate martini took pictures of it before drinking. Every one at the table (s)
loved their meal...said they'd be back..glad they found out about it....& had to buy
chocolate on the way out.
After the meal , I got so many "thank yous..you made a good
The food perfect..service fine....it was a delicious way to spend a rainy day.
Food was great, we came for the dessert. Not cheap, but good food. Main problem was the table we were seated at was squeezed next to another table and a wall. We were very squashed and uncomfortable. We didn't complain, as we're were not staying much linger than a hour, but it was pretty evident if the staff just look at the table, that it had no space.
I had been looking forward to coming here since seeing it on Food Network a few years ago. I had the chocolate pizza on my list and it did not disappoint. All the chocolate was delicious and would love to one day come back and try more of the chocolate desserts!
When we finally got our food, it was good. But we waited over an hour for a hamburger, flatbread, a sandwich and an omelet. The server was horrendous - he took our food order and disappeared. No water refills, no coffee refills, never cleaned our table, no updates on why the food was taking so long., nothing. We had to track him down for everything even to order dessert and to get our bill. Easily the worst service experience we had at Max Brenner's - definitely ruined our visit. Maybe would go back for dessert, but nothing more. For the prices they charge, the service should definitely be better than it was.
Been here a zillion times.
Invited 12 for lunch later in OCT.
Burgers good..waffle fries chewy & cool
Too hungry & tired to send them back.
Had hot chocolate for dessert very good but hug mug so hot had some w/spoon then asked for a cup. In a real cup, which was 1/2 filled..maybe I had 3 or 4 teaspoons..so for $6. that was a lot.
Had a stronger hot chocolate @ STARBUCKS for $3 & it was an entire cup
More the ultimate sugar experience. The menus wasn't about chocolate at all. I'm sure my kids enjoyed it, but it wasn't that great. The waffle was horrible -- thick, dense, doughy. The ice cream was mediocre. The chocolate itself wasn't that good. It was a definite meh.
Overall, it was a huge disappointment. We wanted to order flatbread pizzas for dinner, they were out of dough. We ordered a chicken quesadilla, it came without any chicken. We ordered a milkshake, it was the consistency of milk. We were really excited to order the dessert pizza, again no dough so we couldn’t order it. We wouldn’t go back.
Our server made the evening. We didn't do anything special for Our Anniversary this year, Our 23rd, but took Our kids w Us and had the best time with them all!! here at the Chocolate Bar!!
Now just get t shirts selling again and I can add yours to my Wonka collection
Thanks for a spectacular 1st visit and Anniversary delight, everything was perfect
