Max Brenner - Philadelphia Ratings and Reviews
This place is amazing. My boyfriend and I went on a Sunday thinking it would be packed, so made a reservation ahead of time. We arrived fifteen minutes early but was seated right away, even though the restaurant was packed. The dessert was excellent and so was the service. It was our first time there after being raved about by our friends, and we will definitely be back for more. The chocolate was excellent. Ordered the fondue, and it was more than enough for two.
Its a small space if your intention is to comfortably host a party of 16 you might do better having an entirety different area for it. I was present for that debacle on Sunday and it was just completely unpleasant to experience it was annoying distracting . It was obvious the host staff was totally overwhelmed. If your goal is to seat people super close it won’t work because this isn’t Amada or something like that. It seems like there’s too much floor space for your retail area- I don’t know. My server was pleasant as could be. Jacqueline
I was excited to try this place. I took my mom here for your bday, she is a HUGE chocolate and dessert lover. Overall, I was really disappointed with the desserts. We got a waffle dish and the Supreme cake & icecream. The waffle was stale tasting and the cake was small and dry. Mostly whip cream. Not a very rich flavor to anything, more of a junky quantity over quality type. I do not plan on returning.
My food was terrible. Just a burger and fries but the bun was soggy to the point that I could not pick it up. It was disgusting. The burger was underdone and an odd color. It did not look like beef. Carmelized onions were practically raw. Fries were cold. My friend did enjoy her veggie sandwich and my chocolate martini and dessert were very good. We had a 5:00 reservation and were sat on time but we did not get our check until 6:45. We had theater tickets at 7:00 and had to make a dash to the theater. It took almost a half hour to get our dessert. Would have like to have looked at their chocolate shop but we didn’t have time. Crazy that getting one drink, a burger and dessert took an hour and 45 minutes. Our waitress was hard to find after the first half hour or so.
This was my second time here, and I was not disappointed. The food itself is delicious and creative...me and my 13 yo split a chicken cheesesteak on a waffle with a roasted red pepper mayo. It was delicious! The hot chocolate is better than any I’ve had elsewhere...my husband got the peanut butter hot chocolate and I got the melted marshmallow hot chocolate. For dessert my daughter got the 80’s milkshake, and she loved it. So many desserts to choose from...next time I come here I’m going to eat less food so I can have one! The service was great, and the restaurant itself is really cute with a little store so you can buy some of their yummy chocolate!
I am here several times a year.
Met a friend for lunch today, both had cheeseburgers & they were juicy & delicious.
our waitress was wonderful, made me Russian dressing for salad....she was adorable & very nice.
We'll be back soon....one of the best places in my neighborhood
Max Brenner's is a fun place to eat brunch, lunch and/or dinner. It can be noisy if packed to capacity. It's a very small venue with seating capacity of only 110 people, best to make a reservation. There are creative cocktails, wine & beer available along with the most delicious ice cream concoctions in the city. Kids meals are served very creatively & when celebrating a birthday, fireworks happen! It's magical!
There was actually 10 of us, 6 kids and 4 adults. When I initially called for reservations for a party of 10, I was told that the earliest they could get us in was at 11:45 PM. So we thought it would be best to book a table for the kids and a table for the adults. It was my twin nephews 14th birthday so it would’ve been nice if we could all sit together but we felt this was the only way we’d be able to get in at a reasonable time of night. When we got to the restaurant, we told the hostess what we did and why. She was very accommodating and actually put together a table so all 10 of us could sit together, which really made our night! The waiter was also very friendly and patient! Drinks, food and desserts were all delicious as well.
I was initially very excited to go to Max Brenner, but was immediately disappointed when I arrived. There were multiple tables of unattended teenagers and young children who were all very very loud. Our table was dirty, the utensils, plates, and everything we were served was either dirty or a bit sloppy, and the food was very average. Overall, I don't think I would return.
Service was extremely slow. The plates were piping hot and all of the food was cold. The hot chocolate was mediocre. The quesadillas barely had any contents inside so it was like eating tortilla shells with lettuce and sauce on top. The potatoes that came with the eggs were stale and not fresh. We ordered 7 dishes and all were cold and subpar! The seating was very close with little room.
Max Brenner's was a fun experience. The food was really good and it was nice to be able to have brunch available on the weekend. The attention to detail and plating was exceptional. The chocolate was amazing. The 4 of us shared the waffle sampler, we loved the chocolate hazelnut the best and the fondue was simply delicious. The chocolate was so smooth and creamy and the dipping choices were great. We liked the fact that you could toast a marshmallow at the table and then dip into your choice of 2 chocolates, milk, white, or dark. Yum! I would suggest that you plan your meal accordingly and either share an entree, since they are pretty large or plan to eat dessert. Its too much with both.
This was my second visit because my son and I had such a great time the first time. Unfortunately, had this been my first time, I would never go back. It was quite dirty, old used fork on the floor, the table had not been wiped down, sugar packets opened in the holder, and we were there when it first opened. We had to ask for napkins and utensils 3 times. Sad to say that at the prices we paid, we won't go back.
I took my grandchildren because it seemed like a place they would enjoy. Our server, Alicia, was excellent. I would recommend this place with some caveats. Food was good but not exceptional. The hot chocolate was barely lukewarm. The kids really enjoyed their chocolate syringes. One important note: the restrooms were very inadequate for the number of people. There were only 2 and the line was 10 deep. For a place that caters to children, this was unacceptable. We waited about 20 minutes to get into the restroom. So, it is a fun place to take the kids but make sure you don’t arrive needing a restroom any time soon.
Made reservations for our daughters sweet 16 birthday. We were staying in town and going to a show. The staff was very accommodating and helpful from taking the reservation for a large party to being ready for us when we arrived. The food was very good whether the girls wanted dinner or just a very tasty chocolate desert. Thank you Max Brenner for helping to make it a special night.
Had to push back our reservation slightly and they still quickly accommodated our party of 6. Ordered the Brenner Burger, classic burger, Mac and cheese Burger and 2 kids meals. The kids meals came with a syringe of sauce which was very cute and well plated. All of the burgers were really good! Dessert was the Fondue, half a fully loaded pizza and Ice cream Sunday. All very good! The cookie base of the pizza could be done differently. Overall really fun and really good food!
