Max Brenner - Philadelphia
A worldwide phenomenon, Max Brenner, Chocolate by the Bald Man, has spread its unique culture with it's iconic dessert and decadent savory menu in United States with locations in New York City, Philadelphia, and Boston.
We were going to go to fogo but made a switch to come here (because chocolate) for our anniversary .My .first thougrht was it was very loud we got seated right away .. Our server got there like No lie 20 mins after that we had been seated. We had plenty of time to study the menu .. so we placed our order .. it took FOREVER to get our drink the apps came out first.. once served our drinks where tasty
... we wanted more drinks but had to flag down a waiter for more .. never asked how our dinner was going or if we needed anything . ALSO got my husbands order wrong.. but we knew we would never get a chance to leave if we mentioned it .
All and all food was ok .. price ok .. wait staff is subpar.. I did like the kid who was training but how can he learn when his mentor was awful ?
Delicious food and even better service. Will be back
Excellent brunch service. The portions were perfect, and I have never had bacon done more perfectly. Our waitress was polite, funny, attentive and personable. Overall, a very enjoyable experience.
Sat us quickly. Servers were attentive. Apps came out fast. Drinks were more like juice than alcohol. The chicken wings were amazing. Had a to ask for water refill and utensils. Server dropped a plate of food on my son by accident. Brought something out to celebrate my sister's birthday.
Very nice - my son loved it. Waiter excellent.
Everything would have been perfect but we were sat near the windows that had a huge gap and we were freezing. It made it very hard to enjoy our dinner
Dessert was great
Nice atmosphere - great cocktails and decadent desserts
First time here... CHOCO-TOPIA!!! Stopped in post-show for dessert... OMG! This is the place to go to get your sweet-tooth satisfied. We shared a fondue plate and tried a couple milkshakes. SOOOOO GOOOOD. Looking forward to going back to try some waffles and crepes.
Thank you for making our anniversary so special
Milkshakes are not the best, but food and waffles were amazing
Date my with my daughter
I would recommend Max Brenner to a friend who has children. I know it is a themed restaurant focusing on dessert-themed food but I found the other options a bit limited. And I felt like it was kind of dirty and a bit hectic...
waited 25 mins despite a 10pm reservation...said couldn't seat us at table that was clear but sat another group before us that came after us! When asked to speak with a manager was told he (Matt) was too busy and that they (hostesses) were going by what the back of the restaurant told them to do. We wouldve left if we werent so tired & hungry. A staff member gave us a box of chocolates as an apology, which was thoughtful. Late at night so wanted to order the restaurant deal and share it but told sharing not allowed. Ridiculous. If the food is being eaten, who cares how. Didnt feel welcomed. Really loud and crowded.
Went for CC Restaurant Week. I don't think the menu options were really worth it but we knew what it was going into it. With cocktails, it's pretty pricey. Our server was nice but we felt really rushed.
I would definitely recommend Max Brenner-Philadelphia. This was our second visit and we'd come back again (the fettuccini alfredo was delicious!).
The food was good and the drinks were wonderful. The seating was horrible. They squeeze too many tables into a small space. We were literally sitting so close to the people next to us that we couldn’t get out from the table without our bodies touching their food. The waiter couldn’t even stand next to our table. They need to reconsider how they seat people or remove some of the tables. Won’t go back anytime soon.
All four courses from the restaurant week menu was delicious!! Hospitality is wonderful. Great place to visit, we will be back.
I especially enjoyed the Chocolate Martini. I definitely recommend visiting at least once.
The only complaint I have is the service was too slow. Most working people don't have two hours to take for lunch, even during Restaurant Week. The restaurant was not crowded enough to warrant taking that much time. It was an overall good experience, the food was delicious and I'd definitely go back again.
All of the food was excellent. Big portions and tasty. Server was also quick and pleasant.
Our first time and we weren't disappointed a lot of food and it was delicious
Food, service, and atmosphere was very good. Noise level was a little loud for my taste but that’s just me. I have 3very loud toddlers so if they had been with us then it wouldn’t have been a big deal. Very good otherwise.
As usual, everything was wonderful. Our server Julia was fantastic! The only downside is they changed the menu and removed the buffalo Mac and cheese, which was our favorite dish :(. I wish they would bring that back, or at least offer the option to convert the traditional mac & cheese to the buffalo chicken, even if it was an additional charge. I understand the need to continue to update the menu, however when you have all the ingredients available and you’re just not allowed to order one of your traditional favorites, it is a bit disappointing. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
First time. Love it. Hope to go back soon
So good! Definitely get the classic fondue. Mac and cheese was surprisingly good (and filling!), dinner was great for a place that is known for desserts :) Definitely coming back
Mothers 70th Birthday
The food was pretty good and atmosphere was pretty good. The restaurant was very cold and we didn’t receive our food in a timely manner so it was kinda annoying but it all worked out.
Once we arrived, we were greeted promptly and shown to our table. Our waitress quickly arrived with water and to take our drink orders. We announced we weren't ready and she agreed to give us more time.
My son and I have been to Max Brenner before, but my mother and cousin hadn't. To make it easy for my mother, I made her order the Restaurant Week Menu. My younger cousin wasn't sure of what she wanted.
Our waitress checked on us and we eventually ordered.
My mother ordered — Beer Battered Onion Rings, Southwestern Caesar Salad, The Brenner Burger
and The S'mores Concoction. She also ordered Mocha Hot Chocolate which came in their signature Hug Mug.
I ordered my favorite — The Cheesesteak Waffle Sandwich and a Salted Caramel Milkshake
My son ordered his usual — Chicken Tenders and French Fries along with a Pepsi and a Vanilla Milkshake.
My younger cousin ordered the Classic Alfredo and a Sierra Mist.
Once our order was placed, our food came out without much wait and freshly prepared (hot). This was my mother's first time eating Onion Rings and she loved them, especially with the Chocolate Ranch sauce.
My younger cousin didn't really love her Alfredo, she said it was bland and had no flavor. She tried to dress it up with Sriracha and|or Tabasco Sauce, which didn't help.
My son obviously loved his dinner, he just wished he had more French Fries. Which I could understand, you don't get a lot of fries. (maybe add more fries to meals that have fries as a side?)
My dinner was perfect and I'll definitely always order it, but the burger looked delicious as well. I may try it on my next visit.
I loved the cup that my milkshake came in, so I bought it from the store at the front of the restaurant.
My family enjoyed themselves a lot and my mother said she would definitely return.
Disappointed. Greasy burger and fries. Flatbread with glorified ketchup as sauce. We were there early so it was not crowded and the wait staff (and manager) stood around talking. It was had to get their attention when we needed something. Our waiter was friendly and fine with the basics. Dessert was meh - churros were ultra thin and greasy.
I took my mom out for lunch. It was our first time at this restaurant. The staff was great and the food was amazing. You could smell chocolate as soon as you opened the door. I am definitely going back!
Restaurant week lunch was LUSCIOUS!!!!
We had a Caesar salad w/a kick & it was delicious
Waffles w.cheesesteak & onions...very good...different
Dessert vanilla ice cream& toppings large portion..could serve 4 people our 2 meals
They were out of this world.. really good
Very nice! Location was great, ambience was amazing and service was excellent. The only minor thing is the fries. I ordered the Brenner Burger which was also very good the fries were over cooked. I like a good crunch but these were way too hard. Other than that, I have absolutely no complaints. Would definitely go again..😊
This is the best place to get dessert especially if you love chocolate! Bring your best friend, date, family or just go alone and enjoy. The staff is very nice and there is a parking garage close by.
Service was slow- but not unbearable- we were able to catch up with each other’s lives. Food- we tried something other than our usual here. No complaints! Could have eaten more- it was yummy!
The best part of our brunch was dessert. There was so much that looked good it was hard to pick. Definitely going back for dessert.
Our server told us she didn't eat the food and the desserts she suggested were less than amazing.
Disappointing. Had heard about this place for years and was totally disappointed. Items that claimed to be cocoa flavored weren’t, churros were over cooked, Mac and cheese was dry. Our server was polite and knowledgeable but clearly high as a kite.
