Went for my birthday, great dessert. Got a piece of chocolate with a sparkler!
Great service, wonderful for families. My husband and I each ordered the cheese steak sandwich (on waffles) and it was really excellent. My 2-year-old had the chicken fingers and fries. Our waiter was very friendly and the service was fast. For dessert: ice cream for the kiddo and a Mexican hot chocolate for me.
I was not very impressed ,hostess was not welcoming , mumbled table wasnt ready without eye contact.Loud, dirty bathrooms, overpriced, table was unbalanced and got a drenched leg from a drink spill. Food was ok.Server was accommodating.
Good food. Different choices. Good overall experience
Fun menu for kids, decent sandwich, flat bread, salads, burger menu for adults. A bit pricey, even if located in the city. Kids loved it...especially the fondue. Service was friendly and efficient, a real feat when serving messy, indecisive kids.
Just fantastic - as always! Our server was gracious, the food was delicious!
Amazing dessert, amazing service, amazing ambiance. I love this place and would absolutely recommend it and will be returning.
I’ve always wanted to try this place and finally had a chance when friends were coming from out of town who are originally from Israel. I can’t complain the entrées were excellent the desserts were over the top. Really the only hiccup we had all night was at the waitress brought to someone else’s check initially which unfortunately was $45 cheaper than our check........ Such is life. I’ll definitely be back
It was the first time to this restaurant! Right at the door, the most heavenly chocolate smell was in the foyer! Wow! We ordered the southwest veggie burgers that were pretty good, but mostly made out of black beans and rice, and it kept falling apart in the plate. Some of the fun of it was trying to pick it all up with the fork, and pieces would break in half because of the rice. Lol then, the smell of chocolate overwhelmed us and we needed to get two desserts! I got the hazelnut chocolate strawberry crêpe and my friend got the enormous ice cream sampler! He is a big guy and he still could not finish it. Lol
Very sweet though...!! On the way out, sitting in the foyer waiting for my friend to pull up with the car, the smell of chocolate was pure heaven!
Had a friend from out of town meet for dinner and drinks. We had Kasey, she was great! Service was outstanding and food was great. My table shared 3 appetizers, we had Chocolate Martini's and dessert. Well worth the cost. Low key casual dinner spot, awesome dessert spot. I will certainly be back for more food and chocolate!
Went for dessert, their specialty. Selection was extensive but still incomplete, for example, why not chocolate cake? Chocolate pie? Any number of other standard chocolate desserts? Additionally, prices were almost double what you would pay elsewhere in town. Not worth it.
Go for appetizers and desserts. Our entrees were not good but we liked our appetizer and the desserts were artfully presented and tasty. It’s expensive for what you end up getting but the service was friendly. We would go back but skip entrees.
The food was average. Pricey for what it is. Was so excited for the cheesesteak waffle. Its was very disappointing. Took 2 bites and couldn’t finish it. Didn’t taste good to me or my friend who also tried it.
We went to Max Brenner before seeing a show at the Merriam Theater. We were seated right away and the service was excellent! We both had the pancakes and an order of bacon. The pancakes were big and fluffy and the bananas were delicious. We loved the chocolate syrup that was served with them. It was a little expensive but it is to be expected in the city.
Great food and service. Tables are way too close to each other. I felt like we were sitting with two other sets of people. Did not like the closeness
Waiter was amazing, made the food even better with greater service !
The food was pretty good, out table was super small for three people, and there were fries on the floor, the menus also felt a little sticky.
The dessert was amazing, as expected... so many options! We weren’t as impressed by the entree choices/taste but it was still a nice experience. Definitely recommend for those who love dessert!
Our service was wonderful, the food was sensational, and our server was so accommodating to special requests. We had a great experience dining at Max Brenner’s and cannot wait to enjoy it again soon!
We made a reservation and thankfully so. It’s a small restaurant so it was packed at 530 on a Saturday night. If you didn’t have reservations, you’d be waiting a while. The food was very good! Our table got the OMG quesadillas, the waffle cheesesteak with chicken and steak and the BALT. We all loved our food. Can’t go wrong with any desserts and get the chocolate martini! Our only
Complaint was that the runner dropped a small flask of chocolate that ended up spilling all over my husbands shirt, leather jacket and jeans. We were on our way to a show after dinner so even though the manager helped clean it off, his shirt was stained with chocolate for the rest of the night. BUT the food was great, our waiter was great and the manager nicely offered to pay for dry cleaning. We’ll definitely go back.
Fun for a birthday dinner. Great service from waiter. Meal OK, desserts awesome.
Cheesesteak waffle was a neat twist on a Philly favorite fare. The beet salad was delicious, especially the encrusted goat cheese. Not a fan of the veggie burger (new menu item). Yellow mustard and pickles battled each other and burger fell apart. We had the churros with dipping sauces for dessert. Only wish we had more churros to dip as they were expired long before the sauces.
The s'mores fondue didn't come with enough chocolate and the fire didn't burn hotly enough to roast the marshmallows.
My Mexican "hot" chocolate was literally lukewarm.
Food was awful and over priced. Quesadillas had nothing inside of them. We just wanted to leave
Fun place! Food was so good! Hot chocolate outstanding! Venue a little small and could use more bathrooms. Seating a little tight. But food service and quality were worth it!
Service was very well. Waiter was very friendly and food came very quickly and SO FILLING, had no room for dessert :( wish I wasn’t stuffed
Every time i go there its spectacular . Thee service from start to finish . The only thing i would say is that sometimes i get seated in the very tight sitting area in th middle and the customers sitting next to me are loud and rude ,that is th only negative experience i have.
Very good casual lunch spot. Feels like the set of Willie Wonka! Waffle fries are delicious, though a bit too salty for my taste. BLT with avocado was on delicious bread and very fresh tasting, except for the bacon, which seemed a bit “off.” Affogato with the extra chocolate shot is a must! Super friendly service. Good spot for everyone, from children to senior citizens.
My family went to the restaurant to celebrate 2 birthdays. The last time we were there was 2 years ago. I knew it would be a great experience, and I was not disappointed. The food was amazing, and our waitress was very nice. The only thing I did not like was that our table was right by the door and everyone had to keep passing by our food to get through the restaurant. Other than that, we enjoyed our experience.
Went for my dessert for my birthday. Staff was wonderful and was seated very quickly. Excellent restaurant as always!
Food was so good. This place was amazing
The Mac and cheese was nasty but the shakes were really good and the waiter was nice
First time eating at a Max Brenner. Very whimsical feel....like your Charlie at the chocolate factory. Service and food were very good but it is definitely a dessert place first and foremost. Probably THE dessert place in Philly. Looking forward to going back and having dessert for dinner next time!
A busy place, but it was a Saturday night. Food was very good. Staff helped us get out quickly so we didn’t miss the start of a show at the Academy.
Great service and food. We plan on returning soon!
Second time i've been here, the sharing Fondue platter has once again been delicious! Looking forward to returning here for a third (or more) time.
Very overpriced food and drinks for what you receive. I don't plan on rushing back here anytime soon.
Sunday brunch went south. The coffee was nearly undrinkable. One plate came out 5 minutes after the rest, and then it was wrong. Server had to be reminded constantly to refill water. Spicy bacon tasted like cayenne cardboard. Server kept rambling on in circles.
