Max Brenner - Union Square Ratings and Reviews
Server was pulling double duty and washing dishes in between waiting the tables. He kept ignoring us as we watched him cleaning up tables and putting dishes away, all the while waiting for him to come check in with us. He kept just passing the table with dirty dishes. Doesn’t seem sanitary or efficient.
I brought my niece there as a surprise because she is an avid chocolate lover. We had 4:30 reservations and we checked in at 4:25. Unfortunately, they were 45mins behind in their reservations. So after leaving our previous activity to be sure we were there on time, we waited 45mins, getting pushed around by the masses of other people waiting. The Chocolate Shot was amazing, the chocolate cake for two was just ok. The strawberry crepe was well done. I think the experience would have been much better, if we were not waiting for 45 mins among all the other frustrated customers.
Haven't been in a while and happy to find it as good as ever. Wish I knew name of our waitress -she was awesome! Went with friend and 2 young girls. Glad to be seated upon arrival while still waiting for friends. We were tight on time, told our waitress. She was terrific with the kids - engaging and funny. She handled everything smoothly and with good humor. Food was good, kids loved the sweets and adults enjoyed our food options too. Keep it up!
I made a reservation a month ago for my boyfriend’s birthday and made sure to put that it was a special occasion. When I asked the waitress if she was notified so I could surprise him, she said no. We then waited a long time for our food while we saw 8-9 other tables with groups of 2-4 be seated after us, served before us, and leave before us. We were there a total of 2 and a half hours. When our food finally arrived, half of it was cold, and the other was burnt. We would have returned it, but we didn’t want to wait another hour for them to fix it. We witnessed other tables with birthdays be served a dessert with a sparkler and be sung to by multiple people; it was very nice. However, all we got was a man lighting it, leaning over the stairs to hand it to us, and say “have a good one man.” Our waitress then ran over to quickly sing happy birthday with food on her mouth, indicating she was eating while this was happening.
I was anticipating this dinner for a month and was hyping it up for my boyfriend, but we were very disappointed with our experience.
We came to Max Brenner for valentines day weekend. Though it was crowded, the service was great and we didn't have to wait long past our reservation time. I've never had a dessert and dinner experience like at Max Brenner. Chocolate martini, smores pizza, and crepes were to die for!! The mac and cheese was phenomenal and I even really enjoyed the butternut squash salad. We will definitely be back!
I have wanted to come to this place for a number of years and overall I had a good experience. Our food was good. My wife and I did some of the desserts and they were very tasty. However, the music was a very loud and we were sat in an upstairs area that was quite dingy. It took at least 15 minutes to get a refill on any of our beverages at times without forgotten. Everything worked out OK because the food was so tasty but we were left a little frustrated by the experience. It wasn’t so bad that I won’t go back. But, for the price that you’re paying I would expect much better
I've always loved going to Max Brenner, and this time was no different. The food is always very delicious and the service is always considerate despite being somewhat slow. Max Brenner is always good on any occasion whether formal or casual, and I can't wait to visit again!
I took my out for valentine’s day and we both very much loved the experience. Although it was packed on valentine’s day we were seated 7-10 mins after the time we arrived and gave our names. Our waiter was extremely friendly and constantly checked up on us. The food was amazing and it came in a timely fashion! I definitely recommend the mac and cheeses served at Max Brenner. it’s amazing! I have no complaints.
Overall, it was a great experience. I went on Valentine’s Day and had the perfect evening. The drinks were beautiful, the food was delicious and the fondue is to die for. Additionally, they kept progressively dimming the lights to really set the mood. Quite a lovely evening it was.
Max Brenner is one of my new favorite restaurants. I went here with my girlfriends for my 21st birthday had such a great time! We got so much food and many drinks but somehow still didn’t break our bank accounts. I was pleased by everything from the service to the ambiance to food. The food was delicious and the dessert was even better. I will recommend Max Brenner to anyone and will be coming back with any excuse I can find!
Had a 6pm reservation for two and we waited about 15 minutes to be seated. The bottom floor was decorated so nicely for Valentine's Day but we got stuck in a corner tiny booth upstairs by the dishes which made it very noisy and uncomfortable and didn't get to enjoy the romantic atmosphere. Food was mediocre.
The Max Benedict was delicious! And pretty large portion too. We didn’t try any of the delicious looking chocolate creations but we will definitely come back to try. Overall, the food and ambience was great. But our waiter was rude and had an attitude when we asked for anything from him, like more coffee or ketchup. The other restaurant staff overall seemed pleasant though but our waiter left much to be desired.
The waiter had the best intentions but he kept forgetting everything we had to ask for every single thing, cutlery, napkins, water, to clean the table, they brought us food and we didn’t have space in the table because nobody took the previous course. I had a chicken sandwich and the chicken was hard as a rock. Good intentions but bad service
