Have wanted to go here for years and finally went for my husbands birthday. Everything was disappointing from the time the hostess walked us to our table, set the menus down and walked away before we were even next to the table. The menu choices and quality are comparable to Applebee’s. We both ordered an alcoholic beverage (my husband a bottled beer) which came after our entrees arrived. I also understand the boozy lemonade was not going to be getting me drunk, but I didn’t taste a smidge of vodka. Our server was nice, but hardly checked in and we were finished with our drinks before our meals were done (I was a server, drinks build checks so it was weird he didn’t come back). Finally the dessert. Sigh. For a place that prides itself around chocolate and has lots of options the taste was again on an Applebee’s or Friday’s. We had the cookie skillet and candy bar in a jar. Very average. Needless to say, it was a bust of a special occasion dinner and we will not return.

I took my wife here before we went to a show. The atmosphere was great, the service was excellent. The Brenner burger was great. The onion rings were perfect and the cheese steak was awesome. We had the Tiramisu for dessert and it too was delicious.

Max Brenner was just okay for us. I was hoping for so much more. My kid's milkshakes were quite small and I ordered hot chocolate and it was cold. We had burgers and one came out bloody, but the waiter quickly replaced it with a burger that was cooked. We were seated behind a family whose chairs backed right up to our chairs...no room to move or breath so it was a rather uncomfortable meal. I had hoped for so much more and it was just disappointing.

Party of 4 - two teenage girls and two adultswent for a 10am Sunday morning breakfast. . Girls food came within 10 mins (shares fondue - but had no utensils.) Waiter was not attentive at all. Adult food (simple - two omelets) took 50 mins. We were starving and restaurant was empty. Healthy omelet was smothered in cheese that I could not see the egg white. Eggs over easy were beyond runny and not cooked. Never got an apology or even a free cup of coffee for then inconvenience. Never again.

This place is filled with happy waiters/waitress to help and provide the best service. If you want to make a reservation more than 10, you would have to make reservations back to back, with a certain amount. As an example i had two reservation for 7 & 7:15 pm, then called them that one of my reservation will have 6 and i want may reservations to sit altogether and they accommodated to my needs. I had to wait, but that’s only because of two reasons which are the size of reservation and that’s it’s Saturday, which makes it more busy. Other thank that, i liked the food, they probably need a bigger waiting area, but that’s least of anyone problem. In addition, more bathroom stalls and more room to wiggle around at the tables. For a spot right there in union square, between two other places it’s a reasonable size. Not everything has chocolate!!!

We made a reservation for 6 and didn't get seated until almost 7. It was overly crowded in the waiting area. I don't think there's enough seating for the amount of traffic that goes in and out of there. The staff were very nice and on their feet. The food was good but the desserts were way to decadent. I'm a chocolate lover but I didn't expect to walk out hating chocolate. It's also a little pricey.

Even with a reservation, and arriving early, they took forever to seat us. It was ridiculous. The food was only ok, same with the service. A huge disappointment.

The food was not bad and our waiter was great once we got a table. We had to wait an hour past our reservation time to be seated. Forget conversation, it's incredibly loud.

Good food, but the check in is ridiculous on the weekends. Could be the overcrowding of tourist or just bad management.

is the second time I had to wait after coming in saying that I had a reservation.
On the fist I left but on the second we stayed and saw actually there was 2 tables available on the 2nd floor.
The hostess at the entrance they all had a bad attitude in both times rejecting our kindness in having a reservation and beed very good at saying wait here until your table is ready. We waited for more then 15min with times and we arrived on time.
Never going to recommend.

Excellent overall.. only issue was a couple that was seated next to us. Once placed there a horrendous odor started to circulate our dining space. It definitely put a damper on the evening. Other than that it was superb.

My first time there was amazing, this time, not so much. Once seated we waited 35 min to get our order in en then 20 more to get a glass of water. Food cale correctly and it was delicios, not as warm as it should be but delisious. Problem? When the food came, we had no silver wear, additional 10 min just starring at our plates without being able to touch it. Finally after the eating utencils came and we ate, (we have been here for little more than 2 hours and ordered 1 hour and 25 min ago) OUR DRINKS CAME. Not convinient at all. I want to love the place, the food was good and the style and plates are unique, but the service is just horrendous. I cannot recomend you go here un less you sit at the bar by your self.

Great dinner before the Billy Joel concert, salmon was terrific, desserts were frighteningly delicious. Shawn (waiter) was friendly and engaging. No problems at all. Allow an hour and a half total for an excellent dining experience.

CallS itself a chocolate bar, so definitely more of a dessert spot than a lunch spot. The only meals are various offerings of Mac and Cheese and pizza, though they also offer a salmon dish and a steak dish. The steak frites were excellent.

But the real attraction

Horrible service. Waiter expected our fingers to magically turn to bottle openers since we weren’t given one. We got our desert and almost had to eat like animals because they didn’t give us silverwear.

Max Breenner was an average dinner option yet we were not looking for a fancy dinner or sophisticated plates, more so, we were most interested in desserts. Unfortunately, the baked milk chocolate we came looking for was available, yet our server, indicated that it would come out dry instead of a chunky moist cookie, which was something I did not expect. Looking forward to visiting at some other moment as leaving without having dessert was not up to our expectations.

It was very busy and packed. But thankfully I made a reservation and was seated at my correct time. The food was kind of cold already. It must of sat for a long time since it was so busy. The food was good but just cold. We went for my daughters 10th birthday. I told them it was her bday but they don’t sing happy bday to her just put a sparkle on the desert. But the table next to us also had a birthday and they sang to her so I was a bit disappointed.

$19 for a 3oz "oozing cheese" burger that came with half a scoop of mac and cheese, small patty and literally 3 waffle fries. OVERPRICED ENTREES for small portions and not even good quality. The only entree that is decent at this restaurant is the MAC and cheese my wife had. Everything else was awful note to also include our service was horrible. We made reservations months prior, got sat and waited ten minutes for someone to attend to us. Still no one came mind you the two couples that were sat 5 mins after us instantly received a server and water. This place is really only good for their hot chocolates and sweets. I do not recommend coming here for dinner or lunch. Save yourself the disappointment.

Max Brenner is a favourite in my family! Coming from Canada, we always look forward to the next chance we get to dine at Max Brenner. We made a reservation and didn't have to wait long for our table when we arrived. We were a table of 11 and we were seated in the upper floor by ourselves, which was nice since it let us talk and feel like an intimate family lunch, despite the rest of the restaurant being busy. The food was to die for as usual - we ordered a variety of burgers, breakfast items, pasta, and of course many desserts and drinks. Everybody was completely satisfied with their meals and our waitresses were great. Definitely can't wait for our next chance to visit!

Great service... but to crowded... they should have a separated space for waiting... we are seated where so many people was passing behind my seat and it was very uncomfortable... also I can’t believe the restaurant didn’t do anything special for New Year’s Eve... so special day and they didn’t make it special
