It was a good time as it was nit crazy busy. Not a whole lot if people when we went.
I’ve been extremely disappointed with the service the last two times I’ve come. I love Max Brenner, the theme, the ambience; I like bringing friends from out of town to enjoy the experience, BUT the service has been terrible. I thought maybe last time it was the waiter and the fact that it was a weekend and it was packed. But I just came on a weeknight, the place was not busy, and it was a different waiter. The service was still terrible.
Details: the waiter brought food out and we had no utensils
The waiter brought out one person’s meal before everyone else’s (WELL before)
The waiter poured water in my cup, holding the pitcher over my lap and water dropped into my lap from the bottom of the pitcher
The waiter did not come around often enough ask if we needed anything or give us the check when we were done; we needed to flag him down every time we needed something
Disappointing; not sure how much I’m going to come back or recommend this place, as all the frills don’t matter when there is poor service
Great service and food was amazing
Dope place , nice food but once my friends felt discriminated because they we are a younger crowd it kind of ruined the tone of the whole night . No happy birthday just a check thrown at us 🤷🏽♂️.
Great atmosphere, not too gimmicky which shows through in the food quality. Attentive and pleasant service during probably their busiest time of the week. Will be back for sure.
I had been to Max B's several times with my family many years ago, but my friend had never been there and since she is seriously addicted to chocolate it seemed important to introduce her. We had so much fun and enjoyed our brunch, too. Our server, Jovan, was so accommodating, jolly and helpful (and patient). He surpassed all our expectations. My guest, affectionately now known as Earthquake Nancy, loved every bite of her salad but R-E-A-L-L-Y enjoyed the shared dessert of a giant chocolate chip cookie a la mode.
We hope to be able to go again in the next few weeks, AFTER I finish with my Weight Watchers project ; )
Went for my sons bday. It was nice. A couple of mix ups but server was nice and cleseed stuff up. Food is solid. a dessert place. My son really enjoys it. Recommend it
Food was delicious. Loved the chicken Mac and cheese. Would love to have a location in Dallas. Do not miss the Mac and cheese. And my husband loved the Caesar salad!
We came for my son's 14th birthday and it was perfect for that occasion. Our waitress and her assistants were kind and efficient and helped some goofy 14-year-old boys have a great time. The fondue was a big hit.
Definitely worth the try. The set-up is inviting and the plates are full of deliciousness. Looking forward to trying more on the menu the next time around.
The hostess was absolutely friendly and also the servers. Great team!
We went to have lunch at Max's place and take our son to the Port Authority Bus Station, he was going back to college from his Christmas break. This restaurant is one of our favorite places to eat at. We have taken our son's friends there and we returned with them within a month. We love the service, the atmosphere always energized and friendly; and of course the food!!!
I want to relay a story, we took our son and five of his friends to see the Blue Man Group at Astor Place. We live in upstate New York. The village of Washingtonville in Orange County. My wife and I then treated them to your restaurant after the show. The next day I thought I would hear about how great the show was and that they had a nice dinner afterwards. Well to my surprise all I heard was that the show was great!! However the highlight of the day was Max Brenner's!!! Rave Reviews. They liked it so much we took them back the next month! So in closing as a family we LOVE MAX BRENNER'S !!!
The peanut butter hot chocolate was awesome!! The service was okay, the waiter was a little gruff and didn’t seem pleased we were there.
It has the most amazing dessert and presentation,
love the place.
Food was good, service was great. Some of the desserts were overly sweet.
We arrived early for our reservation, we were told we would have to wait. Then about 1030pm I went back up to the hostess to ask how much longer. She said she forgot so seated us. Our waitress took forever to come over to us. When she did we told her we were only ordering dessert and coffee, we put in our drink order. She then told us there was no coffee or such because the machine was broken. Therefore we were already disappointed at that point since we were looking forward to dessert and coffee before our drive back to CT. We order other drinks. After about 20 mins she came back (without our drinks) to take our order. We ordered and reminded her about our drinks. She then served our dessert about 1/2 AFTER that. She brought my daughter a melted ice cream sandwich and our fondue with the candles out so the chocolate was cold. When we complained she offered no resolution nor did she offer to remake the desserts. We paid our bill and left. Would not go back, which is disappointing because it was really cute. We had high hopes.
It was amazing !!!!
Tight seating space and smaller portions but delicious food and desserts and great service.
Fun place to dine, especially with kids. I have noticed over the years that they've cut-back considerably on the food portions and menu options which is disappointing. I highly recommend making a reservation and saving room for dessert.
Menu with a lot of options, and not just desserts. Our waitress was attentive but not that personable. The food was good, and the desserts were excellent! The ambiance is really great as well.
Our food was delicious and the service was Fabulous!
The only bad part of my dinner it was that me and my bf were close to the door and you can feel the cold wind everytime someone open the door :( ; So if you get easily cold say that put your table not to close to the door, But food, drink and dessert was Great!!
This place is good for kids/families but is, of course just a tourist trap at the heart. The chocolate isn't even that special in terms of quality. The fondu is fun...
The crepe's with chocolate and pizza was really great! We will definitelly back again!
We came here on New Years Day and there was a mouse literally walking back and forth from where we were sitting. That’s disgusting!!!! Come on guys! I would NOT recommend this spot at all!
I gave this location a terrible rating on Yelp recently due to poor, as well as rude service. But the staff that accommodated me and my date on 12/31/19 were outstanding. We were sat earlier than our reservation and our waitress “Mickey” was very attentive.
I was so pleased to be able to have a fun New Year’s Eve date without all the hoopla, expense, and stress that may have existed at other restaurants on New Year’s Eve. The service was quite upgraded from my past experience, and that New Year’s Eve crew deserves to be commended.
It was fun. Great service!
It's a fun place especially for interes3t8ng sweets.
I love Max Brenner. Has been a favorite NYC restaurant of mine for a few years. The food is delicious and not super pricey. If you love chocolate, you’ve got to come here at least once!
Amazing food but unfortunately bad service. It took over 15min to order drinks. When our food came out our drink order was still not served.
We were a group of 9 with 5 kids. Table was reserved for 6.30 on open table but they could not seat us until 7.15.
I have never been before you walk in and the smell of chocolate fills the room ... I would skip the regular food menu and just go for dessert .. I also got a hot cocoa and snuck some Baileys in ... it was delish ... go like 5 before the rush we had no problem they took us early
Server did a great job. But he was very busy and it didn’t feel like special experience. Seated on 2nd floor which was dirty and next to servers station. Very loud.
Immediately seated. Fun atmosphere. Server was not very attentive and we had to ask for attention to things like refilling water etc....food was just ok. Not necessarily fresh tasting food, kind of precooked/frozen taste.
I found the restaurant online when I searched for fun places with kids. To start, we arrived earlier than our reservation time, and the hostess was very polite and accommodating. The mediocre review is largely due to the poor service and attitude from our waitress - it took close to 10 minutes to be acknowledged, and once she took the order we did not see her again until it was time to pay the bill (which we also has to wait over 10 minutes to get her attention to ask her to bring it). My sons' shakes were wrong, as was my salad. Because we could't get her attention - we just dealt with it. The menu was limited - although it covered the basics. Portions were VERY small, but somewhat reasonably priced (for Manhattan). Overall, it was a lackluster experience. I was hoping to provide my boys (11, 9 and 4) with a FUN dining experience; but realistically it was the same old sliders and shake (not even an extra large, make a kid's eyes smile kind of presentation) that we could have gotten anywhere else, in a restaurant with a small candy shop in it.
Wait time was very minimal and serve was very good. We didn’t have to wait long for drinks or foods, and constantly being checked on to be sure we were good. Food was delicious and presentation was beyond what I had expected. Prices are great, ambiance is beautiful and chill. Felt like home. Will eat here again and recommend to everyone I know.
Awful service. Slow, no one checked on us, and dirty dishes left for 20 minutes. Bad food. Restaurant and bathrooms were dirty. Would not recommend or go back ever.
Restaurant got a little smoky at times. That was my only complaint. Everything else was terrific!!
