Best place for simple date night
Definitely overpriced for what you get. Food is good but nothing special. Dessert is obviously the best thing on the menu. My server was super attentive and the ambiance is really fun. Overall, a good spot if you like the vibe, but definitely not what it's reputation would have you think.
Server was amazing and food was good! Restaurant itself was dirty and in need of tlc.
The service was great and speedy but the food was terrible. My medium burger came out charred and burnt, my onion rings came out in less than 2 minutes after ordering and werent even crispy.
My seat was bumped into so many times by employees rushing in and out of the kitchen or by patrons rushing in and out of the restrooms. I was so annoyed! Also not enough waffle fries! Small portions.
Everything we had to eat was good, milkshake excellent. Noise level very loud sat up stairs might have added to noise level. Service waitress and hostess very attentive!
It's a fun theme but they could pull it off better. More expensive than it's worth, you pay for the gimmick not the quality of food or service.
It was great my spicy pasta was amazing
Food was amazing, but the place was extremely noisy.
Awesome place, went with my 3 boys and had a wonderful time!!
This was a horrible experience as party of 2 we were sat upstairs with the music blaring. Being surrounded by only large parties and children while seats for two are Available downstairs where the mood is better is a disgrace. I had good feelings before this occasion. But I can say for certain, myself and my girlfriend will never step foot back in this establishment.
Too noisy! Chocolate is awesome.
Had a great experience. The chocolate fondue can't be missed!
Perfect restaurant for people who like a lil extra touch to their desserts and libations. Great food too. The chocolate theme sold me from the very beginning!! Highly recommend!
Poor service...overworked staff... no plates served for flatbread in spite of reminder... b ready to refill your glasses of water from jugs available at counters...dirty plates as shown served for dessert... bill returned with credit card without pen so take one as u r expected to...
Please avoid this overrated place at all costs....
We went for lunch and it was amazing!! It was not too busy around 2:15PM which was perfect because we had 6 of us. The dessert was outstanding, this was my 4th time back here and definitely going to keep coming back!
Great food. Pasta came out nice and hot. The chocolate mess was delicious. A great date spot. Can be a bit claustrophobic depending on where you sit.
My family and I had a reservation for 6:30. We waited an hour and a half to be seated because one of my family members was a little late and wouldn’t seat us without her arrival. We also was put upstairs with one other family. The hostess said there was a big party and they were finishing up but no one was up there. Also the waiter wasn’t attentive at all.
Food and desserts are amazing - service is very personalized and friendly.
There food isn’t really great. Not a lot of options and not to tasty either. But what I can say is that their dessert is bomb asf! Lmao if I ever return it will be for that hazelnut waffle
I recommend as it is kid friendly and great looking desserts. Not worth for expensive brunch that is mediocre. Be also careful as they indicate they take Opentable dining rewards and they claim they do not accept it.
You really go just for the experience, but it’s definitely overpriced and could be better. The service was just okay.
Great fun for my dayghter’s 21st Birthday!
Food was great
Service was great
The food was wonderful and the selection was great . We were a little disappointed having made a reservation in advance for our trip from Seattle to get a pretty crummy table on a corner that had a dirty bench seat. It was very crowded and people coming in off the street were getting better tables. We were seated close to the food delivery window somit was very noisy. Our server was great and we enjoyed the food. We went to the gift shop and the female clerk was slow and didn't know her merchandise at all. We wanted to purchase a chocolate syringe and was told we couldn’t have one in dark chocolate. I asked why the restaurant can sell them and they can’t. The gentleman spoke up and kindly got one for us. I would enjoy the food again but doubt I would go again because of the. Noise and seating that was too tight.
Outstanding food and prices for NYC. Fun for the entire family.
The place was crowded but that’s expected. The food is great and the dessert is absolute best. The service was ok not their best.
This is always an enjoyable place for my teen daughters to meet up with their friends, but the service was pretty bad this time. The waiter actually FORGOT to put in their order, and they had to wait more than an hour to be served.
Was the perfect stop to bring my cousins that were visiting for the day! The service was excellent and the hosts was very accommodating and held our table for use since we were running late! We really appreciated it and would definitely come again!
Everything was great except one waiter kept standing at the service desk on the upper deck of the down stairs of the restaurant. That desk was right behind me. He kept walking into me, hitting my chair with drawers and spilling water on my coat. Otherwise everything was great, my waiter was an awesome dude. They gotta get rid of that other guy though.
Made a reservation for my birthday and was seated very quickly . The manager Chad was very nice and came to check in on our food periodically to make sure everything was okay !! Even comped me a dessert for my birthday thank you !!
Good place to bring kids , they have goot time desserts r really good
Service was a little bit slow, but they were insanely busy so I get it. Chocolate martini is amazing, and of course the fondue is delicious. Prices are great for NYC.
13th birthday surprise dinner!
Really enjoyed the food. Bought my daughter for her 16th birthday. Their favorite was the waffle fries. everything we ate was amazing. Unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to try the desert..but we will be back. Reservations are a must.
The silverware I was given still had chocolate on in. My wine tasted watered down a bit. It was a bit too dark but everything else was ok.
We stumbled upon Max Brenner while visiting Union Square and had to go in! We absolutely loved it! The hot chocolate was so good! I had the regular milk chocolate and my adult son had the peanut butter hot chocolate which tasted exactly like a melted Reese’s cup....but better! I loved the hug mugs too! For breakfast I had the after party waffles and they were delicious and the perfect serving size! Definitely on our list for a return visit whenever in NYC again!
Every single aspect of our visit was exemplary. The hostess was very friendly, accommodating, and had a constant smile. Our server was very courteous, made frequent visits, either to refill our water, or ask if we needed anything else. Our food was memorable. Do yourself a favor and order the potato fingerling side dish. You won't regret it. Our 21 year old daughter stated, that she had the best mac & cheese she's ever had, there at Max Brenner, annnnnddd she's had A LOT of mac & cheese. The dessert was notorious Max Brenner (Affogato).
We will definitely return, with family/friends, and we appreciate the hospitality.
It's been a while since I've been here and I've missed it! It's one of my favorite places to go for lunch and especially for dessert!!! I'm a chocoholic & it fits the bill! The service was also great. But, if you plan on a dessert, you might want to split a meal (which are great) so that you won't be too full. You MUST get a dessert!!!
There are only two positive things I can say about Max Brenner. The waitress was incredibly nice, although overwhelmed, and its proximity to Union Square Cinemas. Not worth a visit.
we had Mac-and Cheese as a starter, the rest was Chocolate-Lovers-Delight²
