Unfortunately this restaurant extension is suffering in quality. I had previously enjoyed my visits to this restaurant, but there are a few details that reveal that they may be struggling as a business. The waitstaff are inexperienced and inattentive. We had to ask multiple times for items to be brought to the table that had been previously requested. The food is okay, but some of the dishes were incomplete. For example, the waffle fries are advertised as “cocoa-powdered” but had no cocoa powder on them. It was a disappointing experience.
The food here is superb; the service excellent. If you want less volume, go early. The sound level jumped 17db in less than an hour, taking the ambience from comfortable for conversation to difficult. The music could be softer; people wouldn’t feel a need to talk over it.
All in all, a delicious brunch stop.
There for a date night with my daughter ... we both loved it. She’d like to return with some of her friends.
Dessert was very good, but overpriced for the amount you got. Lunch was mediocre at best. Would go back for dessert, but not for the lunch/dinner food. Service was also mediocre.
A little disappointed in food compared to the restaurant in NYC. Dessert was small but made look large with whipped cream, so was basically paying for a large dish of whipped cream. Restaurant looked a little dingy.
Amazing! Great food and portions! Value is so worth it! Great staff and very quick! Can’t wait to come back!
Not busy but service poor. Food average at best.
It was great! I was a little skeptical because of some recent reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised! The food was great. I wanted over-the-too desserts and they delivered. And our waiter was excellent. He was attentive and super friendly. Will def go back again!
Food was great. Service was very slow.
Most amazing meal. Never disappoints!!
It’s fun. It’s fanciful without being too girly or childish. Comfort food focused lunch menu. Perfectly executed cheeseburgers. Many, many delicious dessert options.
Took almost an hour to order. Given brunch menu then told brunch wasn’t available. Had to flag down manager multiple times to get service. Crepes were awesome though.
Delicious food and dessert.. we went there to celebrate my daughter’s 19th birthday. Very enjoyable.. we’ll be back!!!
AMAZING FOOD AND DESSERT!!! Recommend reservations, wait time was over 2 hours for people who did not have reservations!
Our experience was amazing! Our waiter was wonderful. He was able to give us drink recommendations, filled up our waters often and was very attentive. The food was out of this world. We will definitely be back!
Along with the tables around us we were very cramped when sitting down for dinner. The space was tight and uncomfortable.
I would say the service was super slow. My dinner came before my drink. Our dinner was so so but the desserts were good
The hot chocolate was lacking flavor and depth. The waitress spilled water in our laps, the men’s room was out of paper towels, the ladies room had a light out, I used my phone as a flashlight. Nothing beats walking around Boston in a cold day with wet clothes.
We were super excited to try this place, having seen photos of friends dining there on social media....however, our experience was less than good with the horrible service we received. It took forever for our orders to be taken, the food came out before the apps, and our waitress was nowhere to be seen for long periods of time. Maybe she was new, not quite sure, but she kept blaming everything on everyone else...the bar (which was clearly dead) and the kitchen. Would like to try and go back again just for dessert, but not racing there anytime soon.
We dine here often to celebrate special occasions because it's one of the fave places of my daughter. She enjoyed her order which was really good. The hot chocolate we both ordered were lukewarm My order was not that great and it was missing a side that it was meant to be served with as indicated on the menu.
Overall it was a great experience for me and my boyfriend, we went for Valentine’s Day and it was the perfect date. we split a pizza and had the churro fondue and a shake, no complaints it was excellent. And we were seated at the time our reservation was held for.
The night was great. Service was very good. Food didn’t take long to come and everything was overall great! Will definitely come back soon when the weather gets better.
Ate here with my daughter and boyfriend for Valentine’s Day. Waitress could have been a lot more attentive but other than that the food was great and we definitely want to go back to try more things on the menu cause there’s so much to choose from ! We ordered a couple of different things and were surprised at how low our bill was ! The fondues were great and the fries were absolutely amazing ! The only thing that wasn’t really good was the Mac and cheese burger my bf ordered, so I’d say im not too sure how good the actual food items are but all the treats are delicious. Will definitely be going back !
Once we entered the smell was so good and the energy was so vibrant ! Our waitress was super nice and made sure to attend our needs plus the food was amazing ! I would recommend this to anyone wanting a good time.
This was a good place to eat for something a little different. Hot chocolate was delicious. Burgers Cooked perfectly and so tasty. Chocolate espresso milkshake was yummy. Our waitress Sabin was FANTASTIC!
My best friend turned 30 and her only request was chocolate. I thought, where better to go than Max Brenner. We’ve been before and had a lovely time so so knew she’d love it. When we arrived we were seated rather quickly as we had a reservation that specifically stated it was my friends birthday. After we were seated we didn’t see a waitress for over five minutes. We finally ordered drinks, an appetizer, and our meals and continued to chat. We realized it had been a while and we still didn’t have our drinks. When they finally arrived my margarita was weak, the birthday girl’s was too strong, and so was the drink our other friend ordered. We were very excited for the appetizer but they brought it at the same time as our meal!!!! Super frustrating. Our waitress didn’t check on us once and when we looked around to find her she was standing at the waitress podium on her phone. We were hoping to get some water and it when we finally flagged her down she seemed annoyed. The food was good and we had a good time but i was very unhappy with the service I received or
Great place music was just way too loud and I couldn’t even hear the waiter. Food was outstanding but that just made the experience less fun.
Food was average and overpriced and the service was slow and there wasn't many people there.
We have been long time patrons of Max Brenner and have always had fun in the atmosphere and with the delicious chocolate drinks and desserts. It seems the food menu has changed recently and it was definitely disappointing. I used to get a pasta with tomatoes and chicken in it that was very yummy, today what seemed like the closest thing was Mac and cheese and it was definitely not good enough to get again and did a bad job replacing it. What used to be a yummy sandwich with chicken and pesto with great bread is now a very basic sandwich that was on just a basic sub bread. I think the new food menu is lazier and overpriced versions of what used to be indulgent treats. Also why doesn’t more of the dinner menu have a chocolate twist? The waffle fries are still good at least! Also this is now the second time our service has been mediocre. Once, I ordered a chocolate martini (which is always delicious) and the strawberry it came with had mold on it! The person that delivered it to me corrected it by giving me a new martini after I pointed it out, but didn’t take the cost of the drink off my bill, which is crazy to me when you serve someone something with mold on it. Today wasn’t as egregious, it was just a really not tasty lavender margarita that we sent back that still ended up on our bill. Overall I’m just sad to say this place seems to be going downhill. We still have a lot of happy memories here but based on these last two experiences I probably won’t be eating here again. Maybe just for a chocolate drink.
Our waitress was excellent!
It was very good. However, the fondue was pretty light on the fruit for dipping, so we ordered an extra serving of fruit. Also, the crepes were that good but the salad and pasta were terrific.
We never were helped once we sat down at the table. I used the restroom once we got there, came back to the table, sat there for longer than 20 minutes and no one even came to ask us what we wanted to drink. As we were getting up to put our jackets on to leave, I made eye contact with one of the employees standing in the back, not doing anything, and still nothing was said to us. This was at noon on Saturday and 3/4 of the tables were empty.
Wonderful food and amazing waitstaff that really seem to like their jobs and are plesent to chat with! Their food is nice and cheap, the most expensive seeming to be being a dish for two at $25.50! That dish is in fact their amazing chocolate fondue which is the kind of food that will break your brain with it's tastiness. Combine all of that with some lovely decorating and environment and an atmosphere of joy and you have a dining experience you wouldn't want to miss!
Our first visit to this restaurant . My daughter really wanted to go to celebrate her birthday .On my reservation , I stated that it was a birthday celebration . When we arrived, I also informed the hostess . She said she would let our server know. She told me that they put a sparkler candle in the dessert. At first we had a attentive waiter, but then he disappeared . We had to flag down the hostess to get service . People don’t go for the food (more dessert), but I was pleasantly surprised at the good salad I had- prepared to my liking . All of us liked our food. The BIG disappointment came at dessert time. The table next to us was celebrating a birthday as well. The candle came to them first. Soon after, my daughters dessert cake ( the birthday girl ) with NO candle or singing. I went to the hostess stand and told the same women that we flagged down earlier how our waiter dropped the ball! It turns out that she was the assistant. manager. She apologized , had a tiny bowl of ice cream with a candle sent to the table and credited our drinks . Nice, but I felt that it was truly a disappointment . Oh, and by the way, the chocolate wasn’t that great. Not rushing back
The food is always terrible (this time burnt and soggy -how?! flat bread pizza) and the service slow. If the kids didn't like the chocolate desserts so much I would never go back. This time they hated the food too (pasta and cheese pizza) and was able to convince them to eat elsewhere in future and come here only for dessert.
So disappointed, the restaurant was not clean, customers were sat on dirty seats with food on the floor
Sent back dirty glassware
Birthday brunch fun
We sat at a table, barely any room to squeeze in... waited 30 minutes and never got greeted. We got up and ate elsewhere.
Terrible from the service to our food to our drinks which had a hair in it. There was one server who barley come over didn’t give us plates never fulfilled additional request (ketchup, certain things on side) the breakfast burrito was dry with no flavor. The hair was the topping on the cake and so so disturbing after you finish a milky beverage. Never again and will never recommend
