Service was horrible. We waited 40 mins for drinks, 25 mins for napkins. And we found a bug in the Mac and cheese HORRIBLE
When we arrived they unfortunately had just had an emergency (fire) so things were understandably a little chaotic as they were dealing with the alarm and making sure everything was safe. When we were sat our server was attentive and knowledgeable. The food however was awful. We ordered chocolate milk expecting a nice thick creamy chocolaty goodness. It was more like a skim-milk watered down drink. I asked for something else and they gladly complied - my replacement milk shake was wonderful. For our dessert we ordered two things - a cookie with ice-cream and euro fondue. The cookie was hard and just crumbled everywhere. It was so overdone and dry. This is their norm because the cookie we got with the fondue was similar. Toasting the marshmallows was the best part. In the end it was not the experience we had hoped for and the food/drinks were so far under our expectations that we won't be back.
The atmosphere was nice on the patio, and our waitress was attentive. The food was okay... sausage in my breakfast burrito tasted like it had freezer burn.
We went for dinner recently and the food was very good. The hot chocolate was outstanding. The service was slow. It took about 10 minutes to get drinks after we ordered. I ordered a second drink but never received it. It was really busy and crazy loud in there. Would not go back for dinner. I would give it another shot for breakfast.
I have been once prior and love the menu and overall vibes, but this was the worst service I have ever received dining out. The waitress never introduced herself and came to abruptly ask what we wanted 10 times in 10 minutes. After ordering, one meal came out completely wrong and we had to ask two more waitresses to get our waitress, both of which were extremely rude. The waitress still did not come over to help. We were never given plates for appetizers, silverware, or napkins, and had to ask three times for some. They were extremely rude about fixing the meal that was incorrect and repeated what I had ordered condescendingly before telling me it needed to be "re-made on the fly" with an eye roll. The silverware we did get was dirty. It was late on a Friday evening and it was not busy enough to warrant such poor service. The waitstaff is horrible for this caliber of restaurant and despite this being one of my Boston favorites I'm probably never going back again.
Horrible service, horrible experience. Food was moderate, at best. The deserts, Max Brenner hallmark, were disappointing and nothing exceptional.
The waitstaff and servers could figure out which table to bring orders to; orders were delivered to wrong table. Wrong desert item delivered to our table; at the end of the night, they lost our bill and we had to go through our meals and drinks to recreate our bill.
Restaurant was loud; not a great setting.
We went with family including two toddlers. Everyone from the host to the waiters and bus person went out of their way to make us feel welcome and tweaked the menus to accommodate the young children’s tastes. We had a variety of their brunch offerings and everyone was pleased, no complaints. Thanks!
From start to finish, what a disaster and disappointment. Long wait for food, cold food upon arrival, had to ask for everything, wrong food, disappearing wait staff, etc. From what this was a few years ago until now; no comparison. Not worth the stop.
Great food. Was there post lunch\pre-dinner on a Saturday,so it was not terribly crowded. The atmosphere is loud. The tables are tight. However the food is awesome. We had hummus platter as an app. I had the BALT sandwich. It was so tasty with avocado. My husband had lemon chicken. He ravec about it. We didn’t have room for dessert and I was mad about that, because they looked amazing.
I would not recommend this place to anyone. I took my daughter to celebrate her birthday and eat some chocolate. Service was horrible. We were never asked if we wanted a drink. We ordered burgers they were supposed to be medium and medium well, they came out rare. We sent back my daughter's burger. The server finally brought back the burger and asked if we needed anything else to let her know. She tried to walk away but I stopped her. It came out a little more cooked but still not medium well and with sauce on it that she didn't order, no onions or pickles like it did originally. We decided to leave. The server said she had to find the manager to take the lunch off the bill. That took forever. The fruit flies were buzzing around us the whole time we were there. She finally brought us the check. I paid the bill and left that filthy place. The manager never came to speak with us and the server never apologized for the bad service, terrible food or dirty restaurant. This place should be shut down!!!!
It was a quiet Tuesday birthdate dinner and could tell our server was pretty new. Although she messed up our order slightly and reflected it on the bill, she and the manager was very apologetic and fixed the problem. Very friendly otherwise and if you like chocolate this is the place to go.
Good for visitors.
somebody once told me the world was gonna rule me, I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed...
In a mostly empty restaurant, our 2 top was seated next to an 11 top kid’s birthday party. Our server had both tables and utilized her assistant/trainee poorly. The food was fine but nothing spectacular. The music was pretty loud, but the birthday party kids spinning & jumping (literally) next to our table put it over the top. We were ignored by the server, trainee, and the 5 employees who seemed to flock around the hostess stand (located near our table) merely to laugh and gossip with one another. This was a weeknight and I made a booking.
Service was very poor, not sure if understaffed on labor weekend or not but this is what we experienced:
1- our drinks came after we got our meal
2- our app came with our meal not before
3- my margarita didn’t have any tequila in it.
4- my friend order a plain cheese burger , just burger , cheese , lettuce and tomato . They literally brought him beef patty , lettuce , tomato and cheese no buns 😂. We had to ask for buns also 😉
Food was good and reasonably priced, I would have given 5 stars but the place is in need of a deep cleaning and some fresh paint. Bathrooms were quite dirty.
Stay away from this place at all costs. From the time we walked in the door and my wife discovered that the ladies room was absolutely disgusting (broken toilet seats, dirty floors and stalls, fresh paper products stored in open bags on the floor where they had been contaminated) to the server that she reported this to who rolled her eyes and said "we're servers, we don't clean bathrooms) to the bartender who cant make a simple cocktail, to the kitchen that cant follow instructions and sends food out in rapid fire succession, that was just the beginning of the experience. The manager was completely unsumpthitac when we calle him over, he really didn't care and placed the blame on "corporate" stating that this is how they are told to run the establishment". After this we found plastic in the food, were served iced tea in a bar glass that was cracked in 3 places and on the way out, we discovered a used diaper in the middle of the floor of the retail store area. Honestly, if you want a burger, go to McDonald's... the quality is better, the establishments are cleaner and if you have a problem, they will make it right. There was absolutely no value here. had they not taken a few dollars off the bill, it would have been close to $190 for three people (we paid $180 at Legal Seafood the night before for an amazing meal for three).
The Mac salad was great, could’ve added some red onion for flavor though...Burger was fine albeit a bit over cooked, but the bun was stale and over toasted (not grilled) so I ate half with it and the other half without, waffle fries were fine but didn’t taste any dark chocolate and both the fries and the aioli had clearly sat in the window A WHILE as the top and inside were totally different colors, lol. My friend got the Mac 4 stars (1 for restaurant setup/ambiance, 5 for service (Michelle was AWESOME!), 3 for burger & waffles but 5 for Mac & Cheese and warm cookie)
The staff is very friendly and attentive. The restaurant week lunch is very good. I enjoyed it .
We had heard very good things about this restaurant but we were very disappointed with all aspects. The food was just OK. The service was only fair. The desert with small. The salmon dish was barely eatable. The cost was far too high for what was served. They did not go above or beyond. And they only did a cursory job with our food allergy. Overall, not a very good time.
Ordered eggs Benedict, the bacon was over seasoned, the hollendaise sauce was watery, the poached eggs were overcooked.
Great, thoroughly enjoyed my experience
I wouldn't go here otherwise (I brought my niece for the fondue) and it was slightly overpriced and the $25 fondue plate did not have as much as I was expecting. We still had a nice time, just not somewhere I would normally go or visit again. Definitely more of a tourist spot.
I have really mixed thoughts about this place. Was so excited to try it out with a good friend of mine. The ambiance and inside was really neat, almost willy wonka feel. Desserts were great but service was horrible. Terrible wait staff unable to answer questions and truly disinterested in being there. Overall it was worth trying.
We had reservations for 5. 4 adults and a birthday girl who just turned 11. We were seated in the very back of the restaurant at a small table. The place was empty. The servers were very pleasant but paid no attention to us as they talked in groups amongst themselves. It took a long time to get the check and settle up when we were ready to leave. The food was good. It used to be a great place to celebrate. Hopefully it was an off night.
Cute place and menu but the service was lacking. We had to constantly look for the server. After finally getting dessert menus, we had to leave without dessert because it took her so long to come back for the order.
Excellent time for Dine Out Boston
The food was amazing. I never realized there were so many combinations of delicious food with chocolate. Loved they hug mug. I'm definately buying one for my house.
We went for the Dine Out Boston lunch and it was a great value. The first two courses took forever but the third course came a little too soon. The food was worth the wait, everything was incredible. We had wings and burgers and the chocolate chunk waffles for dessert. We also had some cocktails that were expensive but absolutely devine.
Waitress was great but the food runners must have not been communicating with her well because they brought out our party of 5’s food one at a time and then they forgot they had given us some food and cooked us extra meals which they then just threw away... they also added meat to meals we didn’t ask for... kinda whack honestly
Dessert was excellent, but everything else was below average. Service was inattentive and slow - which was the biggest complaint we had. Dinner was decent, nothing special. This is really a place to go for dessert only.
Poor food . Slow, earnest but seemingly inexperienced service. Not so much as a free sample of chocolate brought with the check encased in a tin candy box.
Not recommending this place. Will not be returning. Not terrible, just disappointing.
Celebrating daughters 21st birthday and they brought dessert with candles (which we supplied and a sparkler (which restaurant supplied)
Food was great
The bacon was super spicy. There was no indication on the menu that the bacon was anything but normal. The homefries were dry, with absolutely no flavor. It was not a good meal.
Let’s start with the positive. The bartender was very nice. I sat and had a yummy cocktail while waiting for our table. Our waitress Sabina was also very friendly. Back to the bar. The menus had food on them. The barstools has cracked leather seats. The noise level inside was very high. We had made a reservation on open table and requested to sit outside. They walked us to the way back of the restaurant. I asked if we could sit outside and they immediately brought us out there. We order drinks which took a long time to arrive. Our apps were placed on the table by a runner. No silverware or napkins until we flagged down the waitress. And all of the food was just doused in salt! I had three full glasses of water while we ate and was still thirsty! We won’t be back.
Food was not hot, not freshly cooked. Crepe was stale. Expensive prices for disappointing food.
Our food was solid but it took a very long time to come out. The kid’s dessert portions are enormous and pricy - my kids could easily have shared one and still had a large amount of leftovers.
