I ordered the salmon and it was cooked perfectly and delicious. My daughter ordered the chicken dish with risotto, both meals were outstanding. Our waiter was also very friendly and took good care of us.
Great ambiance and very well decorated, definitively a place to go more than once, nothing to complain about it. Since i went 2 years ago it got better. A GO for diner,
Went there with my wife and 3 year old for a early Saturday dinner. Food was great and our waiter Rocco took great care of us.
Well the crabcake was not the best ever as promised by the waiter. It ranked near the bottom of the list. Wilted salad greens ,yummy. Lobster tail was good, steak was not seared or broiled so as to make the flavor really nice. No reason to return.
This is a really good restaurant in Danbury. Went there are on a date and the waiter was patient allowing us to speak and not pressing us to order. We both ordered crab cakes as appetizer and they were delicious. I had the filet and she had the veal - both cooked perfectly. Definitely will be back.
Impressive menu. Steaks were very good but a bit over cooked for what we ordered. Presentation and service excellent.
Went for Easter Dinner. Place was packed and had to wait over 20 minutes for our reserved table which wouldn't have been bad except the hostess was very hostile to us and rude. We were then placed in this makeshift location where all the waiters had to come to get extra table items and were constantly talking across our table. The table was thrown together, had dirty glasses placed as if they were clean, silverware and napkins just strewn on the table. After being seated it took another 15 minutes before a waiter even came to get a drink order. Waiter barely checked on us, large amount of time between appetizers and main dish arrival. The food was so/so. I have been three times before this reservation and this by far was the worst.
Had a reservation but had to wait for our table, which was understandable as it was a holiday. The hostess was extremely apologetic and did her best to have our table ready as soon as possible. The steak was very good - we come here every year on Easter Sunday.
Great food and excellent service. But the noise level was ridiculous.
Seated in the bar area, which was a little noisy. Food was very good and portions were generous. Wait staff were friendly and attentive.
Our server, Rocco, was very attentive. Meals were prepared as requested. Food was very good.
We were rushed to order any dessert and coffee. We spent quite a bit of money there for dinner and just felt rushed in general. Its unfortunate as the food was great but we couldnt enjoy it as we wanted to
Great food, value, and environment. The service was slow, indifferent, lackluster, and unattentive—particularly as the restaurant was virtually empty. We told the waiter we were hungry and ready to order as he shared the specials, and then he went and stood chatting with the bartender for nearly twenty minutes. We literally had to flag him down to place our order. That lack of attention persisted throughout the evening... Otherwise an outstanding value and meal.
My wife and I dined at Max 40 the first time. We had a nice time. Friendly service, nice atmosphere and good food.
We will definitely come back.

Great food, great service, great ambiance - can you ask for more? Highly recommend Max 40 for Dinner and/or Brunch.
My best friend and I met for Sunday Brunch to celebrate her birthday. It was the first time there for both of us.
We were seated promptly and served the most delicious Italian bread with seasoned olive oil. Our waiter didn’t rush us in the least. We ordered Bellinis which were included in the brunch price. Yummy! We both had the Eggs Benedict and chocolate mousse which were excellent. I had the Caesar salad and my friend, the smoked salmon as appetizers. We were very happy with all our food choices. 😊
Since we hadn’t seen each other for a while, we truly lingered over our meal -almost 3hours! We were never rushed or made to feel unwelcome which we greatly appreciated.
My only criticism of Max 40 is that it is very loud which can make conversation difficult.
That being said, I would definitely go back and recommend it to my friends.
Nice hidden steakhouse, we had no idea it was there - found it on OpenTables. The our steaks were cooked to our liking. The crowd was vibrant. If you are looking for a quiet meal I would suggest going before 6pm as it fills up after 630pm. They made me the perfect margarita. It was priced right for a steakhouse, we would go back. Parking can be tricky as it gets later in the evening as it shares a lot with a sushi restaurant next door. I would recommend this restaurant for a date night and small groups.
Overpriced for what you get. While my steak tasted fine, it was overcooked. I ordered it medium rare and it was medium well. We also got oysters and they weren't cut off the shell, which made eating them difficult. Our waiter was also pretty slow. Appetizers and drinks were good, though. The atmosphere is also nice, so the place has potential. I would probably only go back for happy hour or to sit at the bar.
Excellent food. Great service.
We had a great dinner, wonderful service, a very nice booth and overall an excellent evening. Everyone enjoyed their meal and best of all we could make reservations!!
Bronzino special was spectacular. The cheesecake and coffee were delicious. Great food and a great evening.
We decided at the last minute to get reservations and I am so glad I did. There was not one complaint to be made. The food, the service, the ambience, the cocktails were all fantastic.
The food here is great and they ambiance is equally awesome. This is one of the more expensive restaurants in Danbury, but reasonably priced for the quality. Their menu is replete with steaks and seafood, but also has some chicken and Pizza for non-steak eaters. There is limited food for vegetarians and those who eat gluten free. The wine and bar choices are adequate. The service is attentive and helpful. Overall, this is one of the top steakhouses in Danbury.
New Years Eve dinner with another couple. Very enjoyable experience. I felt a little rushed with how quickly the food was served, not too much time between courses, but the food was good.
Decided to try Max40 the Saturday night before New Years Eve. It was a most pleasant experience. Wait staff was attentive, we got a nice table, and our steaks were done to perfection. Even though this is not inexpensive, I consider it a good value for what you get.
It was pricey but the food and service were very good.
All was great. One complaint we asked to sit at a high top and the hostess denied saying a different table was ready. The high tops remained vacant thru our whole dinner.
Great food and good service.
You will not be disappointed with Max 40 - from the moment we stepped in until dessert and coffee it was an incredible experience. The atmosphere and ambience are quite different between the dining room and the bar area so just keep that in mind if you're looking for a quiet intimate dinner. We had a fish special bronzino that was delicious and a 10 ounce filet cooked perfectly. Wine choices were great. Overall a place that I would return to any night.
Entertained an important client and was very pleased with the entire experience. The atmosphere was perfect - upscale, but not too much so - the meals were outstanding. Two of our party had the 10 ounce filet - prepared perfectly with an appealing presentation. The third member of our party had the Veal Porterhouse and expressed how the taste was extraordinary. Rocco was our waiter, and during our entire visit was very attentive, thorough and knowledgeable. Unfortunately we had no room for dessert - but will try to save room for the next visit.
Good food and service.
THIS WAS OUR 5TH TIME AND THE FOOD IS CONSISTENTLY EXCELLENT.
Good for CT
Childless night; looking for a different place.
Haven’t been here in years. Love the new decor. Food was great. Looking forward to returning for bar special
It was excellent from start to finish .
I had made my reservations on OpenTable and made a request. When we got there our table was ready request was taken care of . The food and the company And the ambience were great.
Love the ambiance and the food ,the service is excellent ,definitely will come back and try more dishes
Great meal was not rushed. Our server Rocco was great
Pray you don't have Rocco as your waiter, the only time he comes to your table is to refill your cocktails. Normally, after your food comes out, your waiter would be there to ask how everything looks, if they need anything else, etc...he was no where to be found! We went here during restaurant week when Max 40 was listed as one of the places participating, he told us they were not offering the prefixed menu even though it was stated on their website that they were. Come to find out he only told us that so that he could get a larger tip, another table told us they got the prefixed menu from a different server. Not saying you shouldn't go here, the food is quite tasty, just request not to have him as your waiter!
I ordered the max 40 salad. Couldn't taste any dressing, there were barely any nuts, pears or cheese. Very disappointing. My husband ordered tuna and it was excellent. The waiter never asked if I needed more iced tea or water and both were empty on the end of the table.
