Maui Thai Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Food was horrible and flavorless. Nothing like any authentic Thai I’ve ever had before and the strawberry mojito nasty. Service was very poor. Never came back to table after food delivered. We were only table at 4pm and took over 10 min for someone to even approach our table. Had to ask for check as they didn’t seem concerned about the experience we were having tonight
We have eaten here once each year for the past several years as we vacationed on Maui. This would be the first time that the food has disappointed. The Tom Kha soup was excellent but it was downhill from there - summer rolls were room temperature and the dipping sauce for them was “three alarm” and the green curry with chicken had none of the refined blending of flavors that we have so enjoyed in the past. Saturday night and not very crowded; something has changed.
We LOVE Thai food and are often disappointed, so we rarely try new places. But we’ve not had Thai on the islands and decided to give it a try. We were NOT disappointed❣️ This place is legit Thai and everything was delicious! EVERYTHING! Pad See Yew, Pumpkin curry, Panang curry, fried rice and a house speciality cucumber pupu. Delish❣️
They messed up and left us an hour without even a starter. First they moved us tables to accommodate a bigger group who had finished by the time ours came. Waitress seemed oblivious. By the time the food came which was as we were about to walk I wasn’t hungry anymore. So paid to have a ruined evening basically. They did take off the starter and offer a free dessert to be fair but the damage was already done.
The food was excellent and the service was very efficient. Too efficient aft. We were in and out in 35 minutes. We felt very rushed. Didn't have time to drink pur tea which was late showing up and we left without being full. It seemed they wanted our table for somebody else. Again the good was excellent.
Everything was great except the service. I was quite surprised that the service was not good. We were greeted and seated quickly. The server arrived quickly and got our drinks and food orders without a delay. After that it was all downhill. I needed soy sauce and had to ask a random employee for it. It was another 5 minutes before it arrived. Our server finally showed up to check on us and one of our party asked for another drink. The server brought the second drink with the bill. Who does that?
Had a little trouble finding the restaurant, to helps others it’s past several stores on the left hand side. So happy we found it! Excellent Thai food. I had the Thai with short ribs and I would recommend it, I had it mild and it was perfect. I’m not great with heat. My son had his spicy and was happy, he likes heat. Unfortunately my daughter didn’t like the Pad Thai, I agree with other reviewers, there is something different about the flavor. For me the other curry dishes were so good I would order them instead. They also do take out if that appeals. We are thinking about going back before we go home, we liked it that much.
We arrived on time for our reservation and were not only seated promptly, though there was a line outside, but also thanked for making a reservation, which I appreciated. Service was attentive throughout. Cocktails arrived quickly, and were creative and delicious. We ordered and shared the green papaya salad; mahi-mahi in chili sauce; sautéed eggplant in basil sauce with tofu, and brown rice. All were delicious, particularly the fish, and portion size was perfect. My only quibble would be that we ordered all three dishes spiced medium, but the papaya salad was very spicy, and the two main dishes were a little under spiced. Still, they were all good, with plenty of fresh-tasting veggies. The rest of the menu looked intriguing as well. Price was very reasonable for Maui. Highly recommended.
Luv the Tom Ka soup! I could get that with a drink and be happy. The Tom ka martini( not sure if the exact name) is still my favorite. It’s spicy;) food was fantastic. It was a bit chilly so bring a sweater due to air conditioning. Wanted the cozy corner but a bit too drafty - ended up near the window with a big light shining on us but was able to pull the shade slightly and voila! We will be back.
Our son was craving Thai food, so we reserved a table at Maui Thai Bistro on a Friday evening. The restaurant was quiet at 6 pm, but rapidly filled by 7 pm. The summer roll was the restaurant’s version of a salad roll; instead of peanut sauce we enjoyed a spicy dipping sauce for the 12 bite size pieces. The pad thai seasoning included a spicy tomato overlay to the classic peanut sauce. Red curry was delicious! A trio of gelato flavors was great effect for dessert. We enjoyed this meal and didn’t feel overstuffed afterwards.
