What Insiders Are Saying
Hogsalt Hospitality does French food. Patrick Kane once went on a date here and you should too.
Fulton Market is one of my most favorite places in Chicago. The history is remarkable and the transformation over the years is equally so. We have tried many places but it was time to try Maude’s - and it was wonderful! The space is intimate, romantic but relaxed. Service was excellent. Food and drinks even better. All 4 of us had smashes - smily violet, bourbon, chartreuse and vodka. Really perfect summer cocktails. We shared plates - salads were shaved vegetable and lyonnaise. Unique and so good! Escargot was rich with warm crusty bread. Pom frites with homemade mayo. Chicken steak and french onion fondue for main done to perfection. We skipped dessert but the choices looked sinful! Perfect spot for a first date, small celebration, or a night with friends. Relaxing and refreshing!
Love the ambiance, and the food is perfectly executed simple, yet delicious French bistro. Will definitely be returning!
Always a great experience...! I take friends here for an amazing time, and it has never failed. The food is delicious and made just so... absolute favorite!!!
Gorgeous setting and sophisticated and attentive staff. Not the most expansive menu but it works!
Great ambiance and food was Delish!
Comida espectacular, ambiente íntimo y tranquilo . Muy caro. Mejor no pedir vino y estar a cervezas
The food was amazing!
Service was terrible
Excellent oysters and the salmon tartar was especially delicious. Great drinks too. Cool ambiance. Pricy but otherwise perfect. I'd absolutely go back.
Great ambience, staff and food/drinks
Wonderfully executed French bistro food in a bustling and sultry setting. Terrific beef tartare, oysters, fois gras Pate with cherry jam, salmon, escargot and frites! Delicious Sancerre by the glass.
The place is wonderful, dark with beautiful chandeliers. Their drinks are very cute and their food was delicious!
One of my favorites in the city. The food is always delicious, although the menu doesn't change. Excellent cocktails and nice simple wine list. Super solid dining option.
Maud’s is my favorite restaurant so of course I wanted to go there to celebrate my birthday. It did not disappoint!
The combination of ambience, service, drink but most of all food, is what makes any trip to Maude’s a special treat! The steak tartare and foie gras is the best I’ve ever had- hands down!
Birthday dinner and it was amazing! Service and food was great and the staff was very friendly.
This is a fantastic restaurant with great staff, food and drinks. Very nice atmosphere. Can't recommend it highly enough.
Our waiter was excellent!!
I met a friend for dinner before seeing a show on a Tuesday afterwork. It was beautiful weather so we sat outside. The service was great! Attentive and well informed and very engaging without being intrusive. We had shared the steak tartare and the mussels...both delicious. We each had a salad....one of my favorites of all time, frisée with soft egg, pork belly and light dressing. The wine selection was good too
We go to Maude's all of the time and unfortunately our service was incredibly subpar last night. We had empty wine glasses for majority of the night and were hoping to order dessert but by the time our waitress finally decided to visit our table, we had long changed our minds. I know that the Hogsalt Group highly values service and I've never had issues in the past. After hyping the restaurant up to my out of town guests, we were highly disappointed in our experience.
Maude's Liquor Bar was one of the coolest spots we've been to thus far in Chicago. A very dimly lit interior with dark leather and chandeliers all around made this a really romantic and cozy spot. The drinks and food were delicious. Perfect date spot.
It took over an our to get seated even with a reservation and they brought two glasses of warm champagne and cold french fries over as an apology. Neither which were enjoyed. All the food we ordered was wonderful but took so long to get either.
I booked a 7:30pm reservation taking into consideration that we had a 10:30pm show and didn’t want to be rushed. We are running 10 minutes behind so when we were told that our table wasn’t quite ready it was no problem. We just went to grab a cocktail at the bar. By the time we were finally seated it was over an hour after our original reservation and we were irked. We were disappointed to see the wine menu was very limited. We ordered the salmon tartare to start, which was delicious, and the steak tartare and cassoulet for a main. The cassoulet was delicious but the steak tartare was just fine and the horseradish it came with was very weak. We wanted to get the creme brûlée but unfortunately had run out of tjme and hadn’t to leave for our show. For nearly $250 it was definitely a two star experience. The decor was nice but the tables were crowded together to the point that people were physically moving them in order to get out. There was limited separation between the bar and dining area and due to the volume of people it was quite loud. It felt more like somewhere I would go to get a nice pizza than a celebratory night out.
Food and drinks are terrific!!!
Never disappoints! One of my favorites, love introducing it to friends.
Really disappointed with my dinner at Maude’s. The place was beautiful but the service was bad (oddly paced meal— food came too fast, they pressured us to order dessert before our dinner was cleared, when they brought dessert they didn’t bring utensils for a long time, at the end of the night we couldn’t linger over last drinks because they said kitchen and bar were closed at around 11:15). Food was overly salty and seemed uninspired (no specials). Just disappointing overall. Seems like a restaurant that was once great but is now the forgotten child of a chef who’s moved on.
This is a cozy restaurant in a great location. They have a fun menu concentrating on French fare, but with plenty of seafood, salads and an amazing looking burger. Nice wine selection. Great service.
It was just okay. Service from the waitress was very subpar-checked in briefly. Food was just okay as well.
Always outstanding ! Great service and food is never a disappointment ..
What a special place! Maude's has a fantastic atmosphere-leather banquets, dark walls, crystal chandeliers. Very cozy, conversation friendly. Shared plates which are very sizable. Will definitely return!
Started with salmon tartare and chicken liver apps. Roasted chicken and Pork Paillard was fabulous! The vodka smash cocktail was divine!
Amazing meal and service.
Served foie gras- AKA grass fed chicken eggs. Gross!
The food is amazing! Been here a few times and its always worth it.
The service however is awful! Worst hostess and waiters in the city! Totally rude and just out of place!
Great atmosphere. Great service. They let us enjoy our time together so we never felt rushed or ignored.
Excellent good. Great service. Nice meal
Simply the best meal that I have had in years! We celebrated my wife's birthday this week and it was amazing!
Great service; and friendly staff
Very rushed by waitstaff- looking for a quick turn on our table
