Maude's Liquor Bar Ratings and Reviews
Great food and amazing service. Would be a 5-star review, except... We had an 8:30 reservation on a Thursday and really never got seated. Decided to order at the bar, once seats opened up, after waiting 30 minutes past our reservation time. Staff really took care of us and appreciated our calm demeanor.
Maude's is one of my favorites but my friend had never been there and she was thrilled with it - what a great place for grazing. We only ordered salads [I think they serve the best Lyonnaise in the city] and sides and it completely felt like a meal. Of course the noise level is high -as it is almost everywhere. I had forgotten to ask for a table upstairs, which is often much quieter.
I took my wife here for our 1yr wedding anniversary. The food is always on point every time we come here. The only bad part of the visit was the waiter. When we explained to him that my wife and I aren't big drinkers but that we wanted some cocktails on the sweet side.
He made very poor recommendations. Didn't bother to explain any of the ingredients in the drinks. So we were left to our own devices. Luckily we made some pretty great random picks and everything was fine.
My wife and I split the chicken, which was incredible moist and delicious. It was already quartered so it was easy to share. We got the smashed potatoes too which also were great. Started with Massachusetts oysters. Great.
Service was very good and staff very friendly. We ate at 730 on a Saturday. Good crowd but didn't have to wait. Was busier by the time we left. Would definitely recommend for a good French meal
Friendly, accommodating staff. Arrived early for our reservation, were seated right away. Wait staff very attentive, we never had an empty glass. Great menu suggestions, even checked ingredient list upon request for dietary restrictions. The food was excellent! Would recommend to anyone looking for seafood or french food.
Took a group of 6 for a business dinner, one of whom was visiting from France. He ordered two dishes from the menu (sorry, I can't remember which two) that he said are specific to the region of France where his mother is from, and as he ate them he commented how great they tasted and said it reminded him of his childhood and as he spoke he was actually getting a little choked up. Never seen that type of reaction at a business dinner, so it was really nice. And of course, everyone LOVED the cocktails but that's pretty much a given at this place.
The good: Feels just like a bistro in France, very good drinks menu.
The bad: Oddly organized menu mixes appetizer portions with main course portions without much explanation. Server spent more time flirting with someone at the bar than waiting on customers, then screwed up our order.
Loved our dinner and the vibe of maudes. I had read on previous reviews that people weren't seated or acknowledged by the bar staff but we found the opposite to be true. Everyone was very attentive and service spot on. Love how the place is decorated. French and urban bistro without being kitschy. Excellent cocktails and bartendress. Had a Sauvignon blanc sancere with dinner. We shared the Bibb salad, fresh simple and delicious. My husband had the salmon and I had the chicken. Cooked perfectly. We shared delicious lentils and slightly cold frites. Ended with the fab Creme Brûlée and French press. Highly recommend
Had planned to go to another restaurant but ended up at Maude's instead and so glad we did. Friendly professional and unpretentious service from moment we arrived and spoke with hosts to the servers and bussers that looked after us during our meal. Food was top notch classic french feel well crafted and made for a great night out. Patio seating was fun on their cozy outside area it is small but gives for good people watching and great atmosphere. We would go back for sure thank you to the team of chefs cooks dishwashers hosts servers bussers for giving us a great night out 😊🍷
I absolutely love Gilt Bar, Donut Vault, and Bavette's, so I knew I would equally love Maude's and I do! The only reason I am giving it 4 stars as opposed to 5 is the lack of desserts. I die for the chocolate cream pie at Gilt and Bavette's and I thought I would be in for a treat at Maude's but when I asked for a dessert menu, I was told they only have 2 desserts, creme brûlée and chocolate mousse...that's it?! Sadly, I passed. Besides the lack of dessert, my meal was freaking awesome! I dined on the escargot and salmon. I have no words for the escargot besides BOMB. The bread was also amazeballs. The salmon was cooked to perfection and I almost forgot to mention the chartreuse smash....tasted as good as it looked.
I dined solo at the bar and had a great time chatting with the staff. They were great company!
